Shit like this is hilarious.

She literally carried the Australian flag at the King's Coronation lololololol.

A suppression order has been imposed on the accused's name.
Must have got him with the phone data that was released the other day, and people protested they didnt want an australia card but are quite happy to carry round a GPS tracker

Anyway was the same way they caught the jill maher killer. hard to get your man when they are not part of the 99 percent of cases with the victim knows the perpetrator or there is motive.

cant see many those on social media apologising for wrongly accusing the partner??

A couple of group chats I'm in, have people who have encountered the accused when he was hanging around with his old man.
Said he was a strange kid, strange kids tend to become strange adults.
Hopefully gives up her body soon, so her husband and kids can have closure.

This is the problem with society today.

Every little mistake has to be a gotcha moment.

Kerr made a racist comment. It’s not the end of the world.

People don’t need to embarrass themselves trying to ignorantly argue it’s not racist.

People don’t need to embarrass themselves by arguing she needs to be punished.

Public apology from Kerr for making a racist comment. End of issue.

My personal view is that lots of people bought into an idea about the Matildas and Kerr that they are "better" and "different" from other sports.

This isn't without some evidence - nobody is jumping the fence and attacking the oppo keeper with a bucket at a Matildas game, the crowds seem strong and generate a fun kid friendly environment.

But Kerr herself has been elevated to a quasi religious figure, especially by "progressive" Australians who privilege identity over everything else.

There's no argument that having a gay POC as such a national champion is a frigging good thing compared to deadshits like David Warner for example.

Kerr's rise is great because she does prove that Australian sporting success comes in all sizes, shapes and colours.

But some, especially the sPoRtSbAlL crowd who have made it know 'the Tillies" are the only time they've ever attended a sporting event don't have the understanding of fandom we long suffering nuffs do.

This is the first time they've invested emotionally in a sporting figure due to their own personal/political allegiances and identity - "she's one of us!!!" - so the first time they've experienced the horror of realising their hero is just another person capable of doing dumb stuff like the rest of us.

And because they're invested in Kerr and the current Matildas squad on a parasocial level, they don't have the "well, its best for the club" psychological crutch we can use for the likes of Tarryn.

Its not Kerr's FAULT she was elevated to this kind of status - it happens in all sports, soccer especially - but if she wants to drag home $4m a year largely from big corporates, she can't be doing s**t like getting hammered, spewing in cabs and hav ing the rozzers called on you.

Fwiw its a crying shame that she was born ten years too late for AFLW, she'd be the number one player in the comp and WAPol would have happily made any "misunderstanding" like this go away well before it hit the papers.

She's not a legit danger to herself and others like her ******* brother and his crew of ******** mates were (and still are)
Fair enough.

One thing I'm 100 per cent sure of is there is a genetic link to this stuff.

Like you either have the gene or you don't. Having certainly doesn't mean you become a killer.

Only thst you could

Same group chat also said the sister and mother were weird.

Ultimately depends on whether the killing itself was accidental or deliberate.
An accident and then panicking about not wanting to be found out and disposing of the body. Could conceivably happen to anyone, especially someone young and immature.

But to deliberately kill, you obviously have to have some screws loose. So a genetic predisposition is strong chance

Older article but there a few like Fallon that have discovered that they themselves have psychopathic traits but have lived seemingly, relatively normal lives.

10 years of additional research to throw in the mix but supports your genetic disposition does not always condemn you to fate. It though certainly influences your behaviour down a certain path. How far down you go depends on many other factors.

That all said this is an interesting grab from the article. I think a few on this forum may qualify!!

“I’m obnoxiously competitive. I won’t let my grandchildren win games. I’m kind of an arseh*le, and I do jerky things that piss people off,” he says. “But while I’m aggressive, but my aggression is sublimated. I’d rather beat someone in an argument than beat them up.”

Nature vs nurture is a simplistic argument. Its how the two interplay that matters. IE Environmental effects, for example being raised by people who showed care and compassion instead of anger and aggression, could help moderate any genetic tendencies to psychopathic behaviour.

Yeah, I don't even know if it's about psychopathy per se re violence and violence against women.

Certainly there's that element, but I also suspect there's likely just a "predisposition to violence" gene.

Back in the day - here you go Chadwiko - I did lots of work with some amazing Glasgow polis who were setting up the Violence Reduction Unit.

They wanted to - and did - reduce Glasgow then Scotland's murder rate from the worst in western Europe.

They basically had carte blanche and were engaging all kind of experts to try and find a solution to it - which ended up being a public health approach.

But they got to the point where they had experts telling them that kids exposed to violence and conflict in utero developed the kind of fight or flight responses that drove violence - literally if your Mum had a violent partner in your Glasgow council flat while she was pregnant with you, it changed your brain in such a way as to make you more likely to be violent when you were born.

But then that begs the question why not ALL kids like that are violent, indeed kids from the same household had different outcomes.

One thing the VRU was being told, but for fairly obvious reasons didn't decide they'd go into further, was the emerging view that there's violence gene, or physical predisposition to violence, some babies have it, and some don't.

A few years later I was talking with Strathclyde murder cops who had done the Peter Tobin case.

It had become apparent that Tobin was a lifelong serial murderer - the Scottish cops reckoned he probably killed 60-70 women.

They were actually sepdning time on leave to contact families of missing women who had disappeared when he was in the area coz they knew he'd 99.99 per cent killed them, just to give them some closure.

Those cops were 100 per cent sure that within a few decades you'd be able to scan newborns to see if they have genetic markers that make you like a Tobin, their view was these people are naturally occurring mutants/freaks.

Obviously still just human beings but with a brain/genetic make up that makes them like this, or make sthem hugely susceptible to environmental influencs to turn out like this.

(Oh, and when they found out I was from Melbourne, the choice words Scottish cops had for Victoria Police. I remember the Strathclyde cops asking me if all the corruption rumours were true, and then being stunned when I said they were. There was another story told to me by an astonishingly well placed source that is tldr rising Scottish cop seconded to VicPol to help clean it up, ESCAPED back home, booked his own flight in secret, because dirty VicPol officers threatened to murder him, and he had no doubt they would do it).

In the "golden era" of US serial killers circa 1960-90s the single biggest identifier or commonality between them all was having a Mum who was a sex worker - either paid sense, or someone who had lots of new boyfriends etc in return for drink/drugs/shelter

Charlie Manson a prime example.

Tories going to get wiped out the next U.K. election;
a) polls showing a landslide win to Labour
b) 64, yes 64 chicken-hearted Tory M.P.'s not contesting their seats.

Yep. Richly deserved too.

Because I don't mind a tangent ... interesting, or maybe ironic, even an Alanis Morrisette version of ironic, that Peter Tobin, the serial killer mentioned above, shares a name with Tobin Brothers funerals .... might be coincidence, or perhaps just drumming up some business

There's dumb, and then there's Matt Canavan:
Idk who Matt Canavan is, but my mind conjured up one of those cooking show judges, the larger guy who liked to wear those funny whatever they're called, like a cross between a scarf and a tie .A bit pompous like.

He was the Minister for Resources and Northern Australia between February 2016 and February 2020.

Think he'd have more brains, but nup. Dumb as doggy-doo-doo.

Pretty big joint that Northern Australia ... sounds like he invented it himself then 🙃

Yes, and when they do, they pay the driver, and if they and don't and get the cops called on them and abuse them too, they face the consequences.

They just don't have any army of highly paid lawyers and PRs to help them.

This is what I mean about the very odd efforts to deflect and defend re Kerr at all costs.
I reckon she gets julian burnside to give a history lesson to the court about genocide committed by the Brit’s in Aus and why she felt threatened by one of the bobbies, coming down hard on her for a miner matter.

Would be entertaining court viewing in the uk.

Nuclear in Australia is dumb.

We are the perfect country to roll out a massive solar + offshore wind + battery storage approach.

The conservatives pushing nuclear are doing so for two reasons;

1) They know it's not feasible, but the longer they push for nuclear, the longer it takes for a proper renewables approach to be adopted and implemented; and
2) Nuclear would maintain corporate control over energy generation in Australia, meaning their rich donors would still stand to profit massively.
