To be clear, I do not 'support' the Syrian rebels/ISIS in any way. That should go without saying, but so often people try and twist narratives in these threads so I want to make it clear at the outset.

But I do want to point out; the rapid collapse of the Assad dictatorship has been an incredibly illuminating situation in regards to exposing all the pro-Russian accounts for not dealing in reality and only pushing Russian propaganda, despite the actual circumstances unfolding. These are the same accounts that I've seen posted on BigFooty as 'reputable sources' over and over again in the last few years by pro-Putin/anti-Ukrainian types. Often by people who will make fun of others for believing the "mainstream media" or US/EU/Ukrainian sources.

Meanwhile, those same pro-Russian accounts and pundits over the last two weeks have been posting non-stop copium about how Russia and Syria will "destroy" the rebels, etc.

You totally missed the whole point of the devils chessboard thread. It was an attempt at trying to discuss the power dynamics and wars, and the moves being made.

Obviously that’s hard at times when you see the atrocities committed by Israel and Russia, but it was the intention.

No, they don't.

You can criticise Israel plenty, for legitimate things, without falling prey to the nonsense/exaggerated stories about them.

Syria and Israel have had a UN-patrolled DMZ along the Golan Heights for literal decades. Reports are that Israel has assisted the UN in repelling an "Islamist/Syrian Rebel" attack in the area. We'll see how accurate those reports end up being, as it's all fresh and the fog of war makes things a little blurry.

What is certain though is that Israel doesn't "want Syria". At all.

At best/worst (depending on your read of the situation), Israel might use the Syrian instability to re-enforce the current disputed borders in their favour. But even that is somewhat unlikely to involve any significant big 'land grab' of Syrian territory by Israel.

If I'm wrong, well then I'll be the first to admit it and condemn Israel for acting like morons.
