People don't know how screwed we are.

I'm just gonna rip this quote from a video about why we actually need a revolution, talking about US private equity moving into running nursing homes and (in the UK) public rental housing.

This is the latest in late stage capitalism - it's the last scene of a zombie movie where the only thing left is a bunch of ravenous flesh eating corporations feasting on the final remains of our economy and everyone's too busy on their dang phones arguing about Syria, Ukraine and trans rights.
Yeah mate,
There’s going to be a solution to the current housing crisis, get the funds involved, within a generation we’d be really ****ed.

Libya comes to mind, much celebrating until people found out about the open air slave markets..

It’s always the day after the revolution that’s the issue, I really hope there’s plans from the rest of the world to reconstruct otherwise I shutter to think.

What’ll be interesting to see is the massive migration that’ll happen, it looks like the majority of it is headed Iraq, not up towards the EU, like Libya thou.

Interesting times

But you’re 100% right we need to fix our own backyard.

I think it’s pretty telling that Assad is in Russia. Pulling out the crystal ball, I imagine the plan might be to reinstate him once they’ve achieved what they want in Ukraine, probably after █████ takes office.

Generally agree with most of what you wrote here, but just want to point out;

Syria is very likely/possibly going to be a unique situation where we see a regime toppled and it results in a net influx of migration. Lots of Syrian refugees around the world fled their home state and are living in new countries (including here in Australia, where I worked directly on the policy that resulted in Australia's 12,000 additional humanitarian intake of Syrian and Iraqi refugees in 2014/2015).

Lots of them would dearly love to return home to Syria once it's confirmed safe and free to do so.

And who will govern? The jihadists that have taken the country?

Aw man, I thought you were making such good progress yesterday when you finally acknowledged that there's several different factions in the "Syrian Rebels".

But here we are again, lumping them all in as "jihadists".

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised coming from someone who also thinks all of Ukraine is Nazi, or whatever.

My god, you’ve fallen for the gloss up.

And captain lockthread, one of the things me and SLF disagreed on was about Ukrainians being Nazis, but unlike yourself I was able to have a conversation about how we disagreed without getting nasty.

Mate I don't think you should be accusing anyone else of falling for fake news.

Tell me more about how Israel and ISIS are allied? And maybe remember what your current forum signature is...

Meanwhile I'll just leave this here...

Aah, ok. So NATO membership prevents Russia from invading. Got it.

No wonder Russia is against it for their neighbouring countries. Imagine being unable to invade.

They're so close to getting it.

SO CLOSE!

It’s ****ing weird @Chadwicko that you constantly discredit █████ because he’s a convicted felon, but now you’re calling the terrorist with a $10M bounty on his head a rebel.

Hahaha where exactly did I do that?

I think I've pretty consistently called the "Syrian Rebels" a coalition of very different forces, and specifically referred to the HTS cohort as Sunni extremists.

(Oh, and he no longer has a 10m bounty on his head btw, just in the interests of accuracy)

The bloke holding Syria right now was supported by Israel and the US and was a member of ISIS when they mattered. That’s just a fact.

Wow, they even lifted the bounty. What could go wrong ey dfa96e01-6b90-4409-b421-323dd13d3788.jpeg

Assad will never be in power again, people won’t have him back.
I’d wager Trumps cia goes after every member of the IRGC in Syria, it’ll be car bomb central for a while.

Nah.

I was watching those threads with interest long before I started actively participating.

It's true, at the start of the conflict you were quite reasonable and rational in those threads. You even said stuff I straight up agree with, like this post;

But fast forward to late 2024, and now you are parroting the same stuff you were previously arguing against, such as 'NATO provoked Russia with their expansion' and blah blah blah.

What changed, I wonder?

I read the history.

Probably. Russia hasn’t completely abandoned their bases though, as was previously reported.

Their naval base in particular is important. Whether Assad returns or not, it’s pretty clear that Russia still wants to maintain their presence in the region.
