When I first started my job, I got told I was allowed to go and get coffee if I wanted to. Since I don’t drink coffee, I get an energy drink. My coworker brought up that she doesn’t like me going to the shops to get a drink and I brought up that it’s the same as go getting a coffee. Like be for real

We have a bloke at work, who, might be a year ago, reckoned he was feeling sleepy and asked if he could go and get a coffee - a store bought one, not one built in the kitchen at work. Anyway, he casually strolled back into work just over an hour later, and when asked where he'd been, he said he went for a coffee .... a sit down, would you like some cake with that type coffee, not a grab it and go one. Remarkably still employed.

Don’t take the P-i-5-5 with it, make sure your supervisor knows you have gone down to cafe/lunchbar/shop and you are grand, most bosses are ok with it but if something does seriously happen, they need to know where you are

I always ask her if she wants something too, so she knows where I’m going.

This logic didnt traditionally fly in the smoking days, but is slowly being eroded. I remember years ago i was cautioned for eating cereal during the prestart meeting however half the staff would nip out for a ciggy afterwards for 10mins unchellenged. At least i was multitasking and ultimately resumed productive work directly after the meeting finished.
