I think a phone is a circumstance thing. My best little mate has rolled through a decade, but the day draws nearer where he will, imo, need one. Yes there will be restrictions, but for communication/safety/peace of mind, he'll be getting some form of communication before too long.

I wouldn't describe the US or Russia as expansionist. The Russians have supreme paranoia around their national security. This is justified in some cases but not in others.

The US are still fighting the cold war. They need to create a new enemy every five or so years to justify it.

No, supporting Ukrainians rights to defend themselves has nothing to do with neoconservatism. Prolonging the war certainly does.
