It's funny, I've had the direct opposite reaction from mates. 'Essendon have an easy draw' and 'the drugz at work blah blah blah.' So much so they even text me when we lose banging on how the drugs must be shit and yet when we win I hear nothing. If nothing else they're just pricks who are probably stirring me.

So spent the weekend away with my parents as it was my Mums 70th. She wanted nothing more than my brothers and I bring all our wives and kids to a Big 4 caravan park down on the Bellarine Peninusla. All the family together.

Some back story before I go on. My old man is 77, got a bung leg and doesn't mind complaining. He's old school born during the depression life was tougher back in Ye Olden days. Was a beast during our childhood but has calmed significantly in his latter years I guess you could say due to a combo of grandkids and knowledge of mortality. Technological devices or advances are beyond him. Anyhoo...

So I'm sitting with the old man in his cabin having a beer chatting and he loves a punt. Not me as it's never been my thing. Nevertheless we get told it's time to get moving off to lunch as the lunch bell has been rung and he has to quickly put his bets on before he can come with me. So he dials up the TAB and it's all very matter of fact but I'm noticing a shift in his mood all of a sudden. I'm thinking to myself, what's going on? As each bet is laid I'm noticing him getting shittier and shittier and shittier. Seriously I'm now confused! What the **** is pissing him off so much? Is he thinking that he's made the wrong bet each time he lays it??? Wtf?? What's happening?

So he places his last bet and I want to know what's going on and why he's turned bright red with anger. He says goodbye and then hangs up and slams the phone on the counter and says out loud 'That ****ing rude bitch! I ****ing hate her. She is so cold and bitter I bet she hasn't had a root for years the old slag! I get her every ****en time and it pisses me off!!'

I ask dad 'Dad are you talking about the lady on the phone?' He looks at me deadly serious full on angry stare right into my eyes and says 'Yep I get her every time!'

I burst into fits, serious I'm on the bed crying with laughter and as I try to regain my composure he's yelling at me asking me 'what's so ****en funny?!' I said 'Dad, it's a computer activated voice! It's not an actual woman who you're talking to!'

He says 'Oh get ****ed' and stormed out of the cabin. I'm still laughing.

Lordy, that thing is huge. Here's a couple I met on the Daintree in May which that one looks to have covered easily.

This is a 4 - 4.5m male (looked like he was coming to have a close look at the boat then stopped where the 2nd pic was taken)

You can lose it, however, by saying dumb things like that.

I actually don't particularly care about the tennis side of things - if he's not enjoying it anymore and is struggling mentally, then so be it - it happens to some people.

To go down the material route though - **** off mate, now you really look like a prick.
 
Thing about the Australian public is, they will back you in and follow you allthe way despite your flaws...they love a winner. But if you lose them, you won't ever get them back unless you work relentlessly or are a special case.

Hewitt case in point.

Nick and Bernard have killed the golden goose, fools.
