I saw one that said 'FERKUU' once.

No idea how that made it past the censor.

John Lennon got "pussy" past censors by spelling it "poussé" so it doesn't take much

I guess.

But that was John Lennon. This was probably some muzztech with massive subwoofas bro.

It was a Nissan Skyline, so...

So I finally have some yerba mate to go with the Bariloche gourd and bombilla I bought back from Argentina. Coming across yerba mate is quite hard here; had to go to a specialty Spanish/Portuguese/Latin grocer to get some.

It is sensational.

I just tried to rescue a little black house spider that was inside on one of our windows and set it free to feast on the ants and bugs out in the garden - and instead clumsily squashed it to an untimely death.

You ******* idiot Doss.

that's what you get for trying to be an interventionist god. for all we know that was a time travelling spider and you've just completely altered the course of history

What's everyone's policy with their leave from work? I've got colleagues who seem to wear the amount of leave they have on their shoulder like a badge of honour.

Seems absolutely mental to me, leaves there to be used so cash it in. Especially the sick leave, sick of campaigners coming to work sniffing and coughing this time of year and then bragging they have 923 weeks of sick leave. Use it you daft pricks and leave the germs at home.

Sick leave is a balancing act. Take it when you're really sick or infectious, otherwise I say let it build up. You never know when you might need it - all it takes is a broken leg or serious injury and you could be stuffed.

If we get too much leave owing we're asked to take some. Generally they'll wait until you have over 4 weeks of leave before doing this though. I think the most I've had was 6 weeks but that was in the lead up to my wedding when I knew I was going to be taking most of it afterwards which the company were fine with.

Sick leave is the interesting one. I'm one who will work quite often when crook but but it's more due to the timeline pressure I'm under to deliver. Working from home is always an alternative I use when I'm really bad, and I can also go have a nap around lunch time too. The amount of sick leave owing is a moot point for me as I have unlimited sick leave under my current agreement (if someone seems to be abusing it they'll be told they need a certificate for everything), but is also a means for the company to not factor sick leave into any payouts.

Either way, it's not something worth bragging about. It most often deserves a "good on ya, I'd prefer to have a life and use what's owing to me and get away from work" type response.

This is where the unlimited sick leave comes in handy. As long as you have the certificate(s) as proof it takes away the stress of having to take leave without pay should you require an extended absence. I don't know how far it can be taken though (i.e. what'd happen if someone needed a few months off for cancer treatment, recovery from a car crash, something horrendous).

Others feel under so much pressure that they cant take leave because it dumps too much work to those left behind.
Fair point.

Not really applicable in my office but I can appreciate other places are like that.

I like scezza reasoning.
