Friday night I was at my footy Club's season launch. Peter Hudson was the guest speaker, and I can tell you that it was an absolutely cracking night. As much as I hate to admit it, since he's a former Hawthorn player, he was fantastic. Absolute cracker who enjoyed a laugh and had everybody in stitches with every story he told. A couple of highlights:

1. Said Dipper was the best self-promoter in the world. Apparently was able to work the fact that he won a Brownlow in the conversation when they were canoeing in America or Canada.
2. The Helicopter into Waverley story.
3. "Move Peter Hudson to CHF" story. Apparently the Priest who put the sign up has been living off that story for 45 years or so.

Great night. Topped off by a bunch of us sitting and watching the last 10 minutes of the Richmond-Collingwood game with one poor Richmond supporter in the middle.

Just bored and looking for a bit of chatter – not worth a thread... here’s a hypothetical

Say you are playing AFL 2016 on the Xbox and you have just started career mode, they have asked you to build your profile before beginning, you have given yourself the optimum AFL players dimensions, 188 cm, 82 kg, mo-hawk, stubble beard, eagle wing tattoo just branching out from the arms of your jumper. You are a utility (don’t want to pigeon hole yourself too early, plus you want to just follow the ball like an u10)

Now you need to give yourself attributes: you have 3 points to use on a core skill and 15 attribute points to use on general ability

Here are the attributes:

Core skill
Inside ability
Outside ability
Aerial ability
Disposal ability

General attributes
Pace
Endurance
Ball Skills
Strength
Football brain
X factor
Poise

How will you build the perfect player?
Don’t go the soft way out and have a point in 3 core skills and 2 in every general attribute 2, that’s boring! You’ll have draft watchers say he’s just a solid player, not elite in any one skill – rookie prospect at best.

Make yourself a gun!

Here’s me, future #1 pick Howard Moon

Core skill

Inside ability-2
Outside ability-
Aerial ability-1
Disposal ability-

General attributes
Pace-5
Endurance-4
Ball Skills-
Strength-1
Football brain-4
X factor-
Poise- 1

Shifter says: Howard Moon looks a great prospect, he’s a bull on the inside who has an explosive turn of foot that can have him break away from a stoppage – he has a big motor and can run all day. He puts himself in the right spots to get the ball but if there is a knock on him he doesn’t really hurt you with his possessions. But that may come as he matures. He also dosent get himself free enough to get any cheap possessions on the outside, He also needs a few years in the gym to build up enough strength to match it with the big inside boys but until then his elite football brain should hold him in good stead. He can take a good mark overhead so can rest forward and cause damage.

Plays like a poorer disposal Zach Merrett, more intelligent Rhys Matheson. Draft range First round.

any other draftees about?

(id guess no one is delusional enough to to this.. or bored enough haha)

Orazio2Joe

Height; 194cm
Weight; 92kg
Position; CHF
Drafted from Bendigo Pioneers

Core skill

Inside ability
Outside ability
Aerial ability - 2
Disposal ability - 1

General attributes
Pace - 3
Endurance - 4
Ball Skills - 1
Strength - 3
Football brain - 4
X factor
Poise

Shifter says: Orazio2Joe looks a complete player. One might say 2 players in one. A prototype half forward who loves to get up the ground to become a release option from half back, but also has the ability to burn his opponent running back into forward 50. O2J also has an amazing ability to organise his own forward 50 when he decides to be a stay at home forward. He has shown that he can organise leading patterns with the other key forwards to create great separation. From there he can use his above average speed or strength to win the one on one contest that has been created. O2J is a very clean ball user. He doesnt do anything flashy but plays within his limits, always making the right decision.

Plays like a stronger Jack Darling

Draft Range; FS pick to Essendon. Carlton to bid pick 1. Essendon to match.

For mine o2j lacks a touch of poise in traffic, and a bit of x factor. When he isnt getting good supply he is a little 1 dimensional, no ability to find his own ball if its not delievered lace out.. Looks a solid 3rd tall option but at 194cm may be a touch of a tweener size. Project. ;)

I do wonder what the perfect mix is for the new style AFL prototype footballer.. reckon its drifted away from athleticicim and back toward the footballer? or maybe the new black is the jake stringer type of brute.

How would ManWithNoName cope if I added 'Good Grief' to the swear filter and had it replaced with something really truthful like "hahahahahahah tay tay"?
He'd replace it with a blank space.
