I think that's what gets me. It was tragic and preventable, and I understand that they need to investigate how it happened and why it happened and make sure it doesn't happen again. But I hate that it's all about what someone said and essentially whether it was murder? Maybe it's the media making drama out of it for their news broadcasts, I don't know. I liked the way the players all got around each other and around Hughes' family at the time, the tributes they made afterwards and that they added the helmet guards and so forth (I think that was voluntary, and perhaps that needs to be made a rule?). Banning bouncers on Australian soil doesn't help our national team playing England in England though – and I still think our players are haunted by it.I agree however sledging didn't cause the death and, at least going by what's being reported, there's been way too much focus on the sledging.
I don't think helmets are a requirement in the first place are they? Maybe the rule has changed but I'm sure that (at least in test cricket) they sometimes play without the helmet for a bit.
