Yeah that's pretty much what I went with. Now I feel sort of guilty for not just keeping quiet and avoiding a scene, but the fact is even now I'm not prepared to apologise, so it's not as though I'm looking back in a calmer frame of mind and feeling as though I went over the top.
Awesome work on the **** off. Sounds like a massive dick.

That was my backup if I didn't get in. :thumbsu: You'll get in next time.
I was the only graduate of a group of 70 plus that only had a degree - and even then I had two. It's getting insane, the entry level expected. It's not even as though most of the study I did gets utilised anyhow. Even then I've had to go back and get a JD or hit a ceiling in terms of promotion. I'm not certain what the issue is? It seems as though there are too many people in the world now or something.

Every man and his dog has a uni degree is the problem, not many are willing to go back and do their masters is the catch.

Great for the uni business. I think I had the point of difference being someone in their 30s and I can talk a bit of shit. Or just random luck.

It's a bloody competitive world out there today, these kids I'm mixing with are really impressive and this is just government jobs. Compared to 15 years ago when some of my mates started at the bottom of banks/finance companies without degrees and now are well set.

Hey. Question.

Someone comes over to your house - say a related-to-your-partner type person. And you've put in shitloads of effort cooking etc. And in the course of the evening the person, while sort of pretending they're just being blokey-jokey manages to:

a) call aborigines "Abos" multiple times;
b) say all aborigines are lazy and can't keep off the grog;
c) say all aborigines in AFL are soft;
d) crap on about how the thought police are ruining afl with introducing the women's comp;
e) say what a shit team Melbourne is multiple times (while JLT match with Melbourne, that I was hoping to relax and enjoy, is on);
f) go on about Melbourne supporters, Mt Buller, land rovers etc all being shit;
g) crap on about having working class values while in reality owning a franchise finance company;
h) accuse you of being a liberal voter (I'm not)

What exactly is the right way to handle the situation? (You can assume I didn't necessarily handle it well on this occasion at all but I was pretty fed up.)
Number one, ensure your views are shared with your partner (it's his family member after all?)

Once aligned, express your opinion of said family members outlook in a similar vein to his mental capacity, perhaps something along the lines of -

That's nice dear, how about you GAGF.

Mmmm yah, strange post in hindsight however there are mitigating circumstances.... yesterday arvo I ruptured a disk in my back. Some quality meds had been consumed... I couldn't even feel my face.

No, spot on.

I got a bit annoyed so didn't hold back and check with my partner, so I was feeling a bit guilty about having possibly embarrassed him or made things awkward. He seems okay with it though - even though oddly his breaking point was being called a liberal voter which shows pretty strange priorities.

It's these reasons I'm going into business for myself ... not that I'll make enough money to chuck in my full time job for a number of years/ever ... but at it's worth a try.
Do it mate. I started my own business a few years ago. I work full time for another company but as I win jobs I just hire people on casual contracts to complete the work under my banner and make money out of the people. As you said, not enough to quit full time work yet but is growing each year. Hopefully another 3 - 5 years and I can be full time for myself.

Yeah my Missus quit her part time (around the kids) office job at the end of last year to give us a better work/life balance, and to pursue her PT that she'd been doing on the side for a couple of years. We'd just moved to a new area (both new to us, and full of new builds) so we thought it was the perfect time to do it, and it's absolutely exploded! In about 2 months, she's gone from 1 client left over from where we used to live, to about 40 across group boot camp sessions and one on one PT sessions, she's already making more than she was at her office job, and still has time to drop the kids at school, clean the house and make dinner.

Every field is different of course, but it's given me a fair bit of confidence to give it a crack and see what happens.

Implants and crowns for front two teeth.
Ouch ... How'd you wind up with that?

I've got a post and crown on one of my front teeth.

My first job was at a Coles Deli, on my very first shift, I cut my finger pretty deep. Didn't hurt too much, and given I had an operation under anesthetic when I was like 14 to stop me having 2-4 blood noses a day, I clearly have no issue with blood. But for some reason, when I went out back to the Fresh Produce dept to put a bandaid on it, when I put pressure on it, I passed out face first into the concrete. Broke one of my front teeth in half, along with two bottom teeth, and split my head open above my eye which you can still see the scar from.

Rollerblading accident when I was 13. Was a game at Rollerama - you had cups in the middle that you had to pick up. But it was like musical chairs, and if you didn't have a cup when it was over you were out. As I was picking up the cup, another kid kicked my blade out, and I fell straight onto the two teeth.

I saw earlier on AFL's FB, Selwood has lost his license and in the comments all the melts were trying to justify Duckwoods Actions
Something like, (Was going to paraphrase her quote) Actually I will just copy this melts direct quote
"did you hear about this? Naughty Joel!
Although I love how this article paints him to be so terrible but fails to say that he was driving back from a country community camp which he helped with and was overtaking.. Click bait much?"

Yeah I doubt the police are going to give two shits, that you were Speeding home from a community camp.(27Kms over) Lol, Geelong Melts losing their mind, because the Captain got done.. . If you cant tell I despise Geelong (to a lesser degree, Selwood)
there probably more good quotes

PG personslly I love this Stereotype about Melbourne Members, I love taking the piss out of it myself.
The perception was that we are "some pipesmoking, beard stroking, skiers who drive Land Rovers" isnt true. I don't know where it originated, and still makes me laugh when the Footy show depict Maxxy Gawn riding the horse with a long beard an a pipe. Ridiculous

I don't know any Melbourne Supporters who actually do have any of those criteria.

I think Sir Hugh Percy may have a Range Rover. Other than that, I don't know any either. I don't really like snow especially.
