Oddly enough, the 'claw' only takes up about 100 tonnes, the remaning 490 is Bono's ego.

Stadium gigs are always a risk and this time it really didn't work for me but I could see that others in the crowd would have enjoyed the show. For me it was the worst concert experience I'd been to in my extensive 35yrs of concert going. Paying any sum of money for level 1 seats effectively at the back of the stage with a pitiful view that was blocked by the "claw" was simply a dead set, first class, 100% rip off, these seats should have never been sold at any price, it's just greed. The 360 degree stage did almost nothing to remedy the situation and the sound at this point was pretty average too. I reckon I paid $50 per wave from the band. Etihad stadium never again, give me the Corner Hotel any day!
Also could have lived without Jay-Z, what's wrong with giving an Aussie group and big break.

I've been a U2 fan for 20 years, and that was the worst U2 concert I've been to, a total waste of time and money. The crowd was very passive, the band was not engaging at all and there was no connection or energy. Quite a lot of "fans' were leaving before the concert even ended and the band left without being called back on stage (I've never seen that before). A huge disappointment. I've seen them in Europe for previous tours - totally different, mind blowing, systematically amazing. Seems that the U2 "energy" is either gone and they definitively need to retire, or the Australian crowd is just not their cup of tea.

Some interesting and polarizing reviews for their show the other night.
Yes, I do have a problem with U2 as they would have been the third worst concert I had ever been to, just after Human League and Duran Duran.
How they carry the mantle of the worlds greatest band is just an out and out lie.

Hark-man, Don't know what concert they went to, but it couldn't have been the same one I saw. They were awesome, they interacted with the crowd really well. Bono even got a lady out of the crowd and performed a song with her on stage. And when they sang Vertigo i felt the whole stadium shake. I can't see why anyone would have NOT had a great time.

But each to their own, I suppose.

I am heading to U2 next Sat with wife, mate and wife's best friend who is up the duff. Thus had to get grandstand tix instead of stage side as they cannot stand up (soft I say) Will be the 1st time I see U2 and not be ringside so will be interesting to compare the atmosphere. I am bias of course as Remember them back with Boy & October.Back when they were not the biggest band in the world I can tell you.

Work gave me a free U2 ticket and the bunch of us who went had a great time...U2 were good not great, same for JayZ (i'm a huge fan though, so seeing him for free was amazing)

on a side note, i was about 5 rows away from Luke Hodge..but Dwayne Russell about 20 seats away takes the cake for wearing the worst Hawaiian shirt I've ever seen. Fluro pink with green daffodils, what crack was he smoking!?

Hey Toad, not setting out to take away anyones fortune for having a good time.
I would have also been happy to have had a positive experience with them, and maybe I got them on a bad night, but considering the amount of reflex reviewing we get of them being such a good live band they were so far away from that it didn't matter.

As you say: Each to their own.

Make sure you pop in to Newton Circus (big hawker centre) for dinner...get the deep fried baby octopi.

Also the Hainese chicken rice at Wisma Atria :thumbsu:

Been there the past two nights. Had fried stingray tonight, just amazing!

You should see the lights at Christmas time, shines so bright.
