The traffic in Lethal's Lounge has risen considerably in the last while. It was a graveyard before then.

All of the above :thumbsu:

Random factoid...

I'm going on the wagon until the end of June.

After a messy aftermath to end-of-term-one drinkies...

(I don't know, but there's just something about waking up violently ill, having your head over a toilet bowl, and realizing that you are 44 years old and not getting any younger, that makes a man reassess things)

So next time we're at the London...that will just be a lemon squash thanks...

Been there, done that.

My brother, who's in the booze game and drinks professionally as well as socially, likes to say: "a real hangover is a decathlon; it lasts two days". He sneers at us amateurs and our bad mornings which fade into shaky afternoons and better evenings. He reckons unless you're heaving when you go to bed the first night after a big night, it's not a hangover. But this is the guy who they use a geiger counter on to test his cholesterol.

Good luck.

Two day hangovers became the norm for me at about age 27. Roughly around the same time that I would polish off a bottle of Jagermeister and then head to the pub for a fridge full of spirits.

Those nights are few and far between now, and I think my body most definitely appreciates the change in pace.

Osama Bin Laden dead, last week he said he had enough intelligence and they went to find him, killed him and captured his body, no Americans killed.

Good or Bad?

Very bad for Bin Laden. :p

Seriously, there are going to be reprisals all over the world. It will be very interesting in England where several clerics have taken over the mantle of Abu Hamza. These are the ones who are insisting on revenge attacks on France because of their legislation banning the burkha.

As a figurehead of al Qaeda it is a very significant blow, but coupled with the escape of 400+ al Qaeda operatives in Pakistan the after effects of his death will be felt for many years. He'll be considered to have a martyr's death & he will always be an icon (ironic that, as in Islam you are not supposed to have pictures of any living thing).

Bin Laden is a scapegoat.

Every time the Aussie dollar strengthens ridiculously against the US some dictator/terrorist/etc gets killed/captured/whatever. It strengthens the nation.

Seriously - the US gov have enough spy and survellience equipment to have known exactly where Bin Laden or Hussein or any other key figure is at all times. It's all about the timing.

On a side note (in a thread about side notes) has anyone listened to This American Life podcast? really really good stuff! There was one episode about the 12 stages of despotism, and how predictable it is. Very interesting, well worth getting onto.

And here's how our respective daily newspapers in Melbourne reported it:

You two, the rogue elements...

Nah, just decided that a change was as good as an alias. ;)

Yes, extremely covert  - would never have recognised you. I did do a double take yesterday and was somewhat bemused by the choice - only Echlos I have heard of is the child killer in America, is there some other meaning behind the name that this old thing just doesn't get.

Convicted killer Damien Echols, stil sits on death row to this day for a crime that he did not commit. I have no doubt that when he finally receives a fair trial and the evidence is heard, he will be released from death row, which he has been sitting in since 1993, and given a full pardon.

CP, if you've not seen the documentaries 'Paradise Lost' 1 & 2, get them.

I've been following the case for years.

TBH I haven't seen them and know nothing about the case. The only reason why I know the name is because I overheard my son and a group of his uni friends discussing him recently.

I will take your advice and have a look
