Alexei Kudrin called for increased consumption of tobacco and alcohol in a bid to boost the state's revenues, reports Metro. Top notch. Like the average Carlton supporter, card-carrying members of the Hollow Earth Society live in a different galactic quadrant than the rest of us.

I have a funny story: a good friend's cousin is friend's with the Pope. Has known Ratzinger for years. So I test the relationship sometimes and ask 'cousin Michael' questions about the Pope. So far I've asked him about the existence of extraterrestrials; what's on the pope's private email signature; the Fatima prophecy; and random stuff about the papal wheels. I've had some interesting replies.

But I'd suspect that Ratzinger would distance himself from the lunacy above... I could always ask him though.... or at least try.
