Many Swedish people have come forward to say there is a common saying in Sweden to 'put them against the wall' which means to confront someone, hold them accountable and not let them get away with it. So I think those words aren't intended to mean what you have interpreted them as. Isn't there someone on this board who is resident in Sweden. Winmar2Lockett? I'm sure others will know, and perhaps he/she could shed some light on that choice of words. I know she has acknowledged her poor choice of words and the confusion it created and she has apologized publicly for it. More than most politicians three times her age do.

At one point she stopped eating and speaking for 2 months and had to be removed from her home and force fed. What is not widely disclosed is she was born with foetal alcohol syndrome (FAS). Any clinician can diagnose this from her particular facial features and arrested physical development.

I have also read her mother is a chronic alcoholic, and that Greta has been removed from her parents and taken into care three times. The spinners can't hide her obvious physical deficits and illnesses.

This is what I find so disgusting. She's not even a normal 16 year old. She's seriously ill. She needs care and therapy, not being exploited like a performing circus freak. Youtube up her efforts in panels where she doesn't have a script to read from. She looks like the disturbed, frightened little girl she is. Inarticulate, stumbling, unable to answer even the simplest questions.

They definitely follow money but they are moving beyond politics. Morrison's government is so infiltrated with Minerals Council stooges they will never make policy that moves away from high carbon power production. My mate works for one of the biggest power corps in Australia and they are moving away from fracking and coal and it's because people like Thunberg agitate for action and it becomes harder to push aside public sentiment and go just for profit. They would never have done that with out people demanding action. Banks are stopping funding to coal projects too because business models don't stack up any more. Banks don't have any morals so that a big move.

Kids are anxious like the rest of society because the world is becoming a lot harder to navigate in a positive way. Jobs for life and low education standards are gone, access to housing, cost of living and fast paced life are contributing to an unhappy society. The Right have done well talking up a return to the good old days and offering unrealistic easy answers while the Left is peddling the the opposite message. That they don't have all the answers and there is a sense of danger and needing to act fast and decisively. The easy answer message is much easier to sell.

The whole world economic model is starting to show cracks and coupled with corporate infiltration into government and wealth condensing into fewer hands, the system will have to change. Boris Johnson and Trump are not the answer but are more likely to tip it to breaking point and make serious change happen. We seem to be on a train with no driver as it is. We just gave a couple of insane, greedy, man-children the controls of two power houses.

I just looked it up, it looks like an absolute load of crap. It's from some idiots with a diagram stating pseudo scientific names for her facial features. I'm actually shocked that Drake would buy in. I don't give two shits about Thunburg's message either way. She's probably more aligned with my way of thinking but I certainly don't go looking for her messages. From the news they seem quite reasonable though. They are no different than the UN in the way they demand countries stop pissing around and do something.

The IPCC is trying to convince us we can tax our way out of the problem. We haven't been able to tax our way out of poverty, war, famine, injustice and disease. What makes climate any different?

I would be very careful about suggesting that someone is suffering from FAS from a photo dude. My wife is studying psych and specialising in child and teen development and my sister in law is a paediatrician. I asked both if they could work out if Thunberg was suffering from it from a photo. Both thought it wasn't possible and that some people have those features without the FAS, looking at the pics there is a very distinct look which is like a less extreme form of down-syndrome. I just checked and she looks a lot like a combination of her two parents. Do they both have it too?

John Howard has most of those features too, thin upper lip, small beady eyes, short nose, ill defined lower jaw, weird ears etc. Must have it too. Anyway, Thunberg is know to be on the spectrum and as with plenty of other disorders it can present comorbidly with other conditions such as slow maturity or other afflictions. Girls suffering from anorexia definitely have been known delay physical development. I don't see why that limits her from speaking even if she does have FAS or any other issues. I think she could suffer mentally from having been thrust into the limelight then spat out like child stars but I don't think she was deliberately looking for stardom myself.

I don't see who you think is profiting and who these elites are that are selling something through her. I don't think she wants taxes, she wants action. In Australia an energy policy that pushed us towards renewable investment and things like putting a higher cost on registering cars with larger capacity engines would make an immediate impact.

   She hasn't been diagnosed from a photo. There is a ton of evidence about her many and varied problems. Is your wife studying psych? Wow. A seasoned expert! What year? Is she doing a Master's? If she's doing undergraduate, she isn't specializing in anything. She'd only have had one lecture at best on FAS. Sister in law a pediatrician? She's flying in the face of conventional wisdom, as examining faces is the first thing you do when forming a diagnosis. Further tests are needed, of course, none of which your sister in law would've conducted. Greta was in an out of the care of welfare service because of concerns over neglect. One of these published concerns was her mother's alcoholism. The John Howard comparison shows you've lost it. If we're having a serious discussion, can that sort of crap. Your lefty mates might get a semi reading that adolescent bit of humour but save it for your echo chamber.
