I watched a couple of episodes of After Life hoping it was going to be an improvement on the first terrible series and sadly it’s worse. I’ve watched and listened to more Gervais than most and am a big fan, but this show is just crap. The strong stuff seems obvious and outdated, the sentimental stuff is plop, and in between is simply tripe. Without Merchant he just can’t get it right other than his standup work. Really disappointing.
