Australia is so big, there are large differences across the country, though us Poms wouldn't regard any of it as cold. I could probably be fine in Melbourne, but Perth, Darwin, Alice Springs etc would kill me.

I've wanted to visit Australia since I was a kid, but I don't like excessive heat or snakes or poisonous spiders!

Melbourne nearly has the hottest days probably behind Adelaide and we nearly have the coldest days. I love Melbourne weather.

I mean, how many satellites will need to be in orbit to maintain connection globally? With all the other satelites up there and "junk" floating around that already need to be cleaned before China deploys this?

We really need to stop just willy nilly sending shit up there just because we to flex our tech peens.

She has been rightly called out on her racism and white entitlement, but to destroy her career in a pandemic is really beyond excessive.

My niece is a high powered manager and head of internal audit at a major US company in New York (her partner is African American but that is bye the bye).

She is just about to have her first child and is on maternity leave. Her company can just sack her and replace her with no recourse for her. The employment laws in the US are extreme and the employee has minimal rights.

Thankfully she is coming home as soon as they can get out of America. It is just not safe for her partner because of the colour of his skin, and even in NYC they have been heckled by being a bi racial couple.

I would separate the minimal rights for workers in the U.S. from someone who makes a false police report, motivated by racism, even though it occurred outside work. Many people across the world have been sacked for less in the social media era; for example, as a consequence of things posted on social media. I think if it had happened in most countries, she would have been fired. I have very little sympathy for her; perhaps she now has the wake up call to re-evaluate her future conduct.
