People who failed to self isolate when they returned from overseas should have been Jailed.
Special Quarantine Section.

Yeah i know about that.
Do you think it was suitable? Imagine the Karen's kept in there, it'd be like a jail cell.
Remember that many people returning from overseas didn't have the virus , and did nothing wrong , and probably would have done what they were asked to do.

Made more sense to stick to the home quarantine with serious repercussions if you didn't.

The home quarantine was worse. They were getting around 50% non compliance at one point. People with positive tests were just going about their normal lives. There were repercussions but people didn't give a ****. At least guards woke at some hotels. It was the one security operator that ****ed up. They should be sued into oblivion for the **** up.

Why i said they should have got serious repercussions.
This might have made a good quarantine station for our Aspen party goers. You can get jailed for up to 5 years for some Covid rule breaches in Europe.
I agree that the Security firm that blatantly didn't perform to their contract, should be sued to the hilt. It would probably drive them insolvent, but there are a lot more worthy companies that have been driven there.

Just as German law legislates for the legality of quarantine it also legislates for breaking quarantine. Breaking quarantine and the legal penalties involved can be found under § 75 (1) Infection Protection Act (IfSG). Under this provision, a person found breaking quarantine can face a fine or a prison sentence. The prison sentence in question can be up to 2 years whereas the fine is dependent on the monthly income of the person. If a person has been found to have intentionally broken the quarantine order and spread the virus then they can face up to a five year prison sentence under § 74 Infection Protection Act (IFSG).

This article is pretty good. As Victorians we should be pretty proud of how we got through this. The media have been as bad as the virus in lockdown, using people's anxiety to get clicks and views. Cheap shot politicians politicising that anxiety. Good journalists should hold govern meant to account but not go Don Quixote looking for controversy that isn't there and stoking fires of fear and self interest.

To me Daniel Andrews actually stood up like a leader through this. He was like a Captain of a ship that lead us into a storm, but at least he sat up on deck with his hands on the wheel and lead us back out the other side. Overseas they just jumped in the life boats and f’ed off while the countries have gone to sh*t again. The media narrative worked to undermine him the whole time.

I don’t think anyone has said we didn’t do a great job getting through this. Let’s face with the restrictions we had it was always going to get numbers down. It’s whether we went to far and for to long. I have no doubt most liberal supporters think we went to long and to far and most labor supporters think we had the right restrictions. What I refuse to do is acknowledge Andrews. I will acknowledge the Victorian people but I’m no acknowledging a government that imo caused the second wave so having that opinion means we never should have had to have these restrictions the second time around.

I don't actually think the criticism Browne copped from this user was all that warranted but his response to shortening his phrasing is hilarious.

What the hell does 'low on reception' mean? It's not a finite resource you either have it or you don't.

I wouldn't describe myself as either.
I have voted Liberal more often than Labour.
I don't believe that the response to the virus is a politically motivated one. ( Compare the response of right wing Europeans vs Russia ).
Sick of people trying to politicise it to be honest.

They caused the second wave. Yes.

What should have happened then? Let it go?

OOOPS oh well ****ed that up.... lets go Swedish?

Not sure they have admitted they caused the wave. My point stands. No interest at all in thanking dan. And of cause it’s political. The liberal federal government don’t believe what the vics are doing now is needed. And it’s costing people’s livelihood and maybe even lives. Strangely we will be able to open on Monday but not Saturday because obviously the dan doesn’t trust Victorians. The same victorians that have nearly completely stopped a second wave. I’m amazed that they didn’t lock down till after the Melbourne cup.

Yeah the Victorians who should have "stopped the second wave " with stage 3 restrictions, were so crappy at isolating they had to cheat , and cause us to go into stage 4 restrictions, and they still tried to find loopholes, and a lockdown that should have lasted 6 weeks lasted double.
Meanwhile flog Victorians are ordering up munchies for their illegal Grand Final party's.
Why on earth should we trust Victorians. You think that flog who drove to Shepparton and Kilmore was the only one? How do you think it got to country victoria?
Victorians stopped nothing...they had to be forced against their will to stop it. They cried like babies and ran around the streets because they had to wear a mask.
Petulant, pathetic imbeciles.

Lord of the Flies was a book about schoolboys, if it had been Victorians on that island it would have been worse.

**** Politicians, and **** Victorians. End of rant.

* Not saying all Victorians were flogs, but we had enough that i'm not proud of them.

But didn’t the state just achieve something no other place has been able to do apart from Singapore. Not sure you can do that but also be untrustworthy. Of course people break rules. We were told last time if we do the right thing there will be no second wave yet there was because of quarantine, the blm protest and terrible contract tracing. As if victorians are the only people initially doing the wrong thing. Now they maybe because they have had enough. Got to say I reckon your rant is crap.

I reckon people who are asked to home quarantine when they come from another country are needed to be locked up or they will run around at will are crap.
I reckon people who's job is "Security" but they don't know what it means are crap.
I reckon people who are asked who they contact but lie about it , causing everyone in the state to need to lock down longer are crap.

Victorians at work.

The government burnt the roast. That's sad but it happened and crying about it won't get you dinner.
Just help peel the vegetables ffs to get the next one started. ( But no, Victorians would rather hide the vegetables ).

That's not entirely true. I can't remember the exact figure and I don't care enough to find it, but they came out a few days later and clarified that many of the people who didn't answer the door were still at home, or out in their backyard or in their shed. While there were still people out and about, it wasn't the 50% they initially said.

Firstly I have no idea why you think Victorians are any different to any other state and secondly I find your generalisation of Victorians pretty offensive. You do realise lockdown fatigue is a real thing and even still nearly all are doing the right thing. You would want to make sure you have never broken one rule in 7 months to attack nearly all Victorians.

It's a democracy so you can do what ever you like. I think he's good leader and I'd rather him or Ardern than someone who'd sell out public health over economics to be honest. Even Lindsay Fox was getting stuck into the CEOs that are signing the letters, saying Andrews just followed health professionals. Asking business leaders option in this is just dumb. I reckon long term going hard early will save us money later on as our lives are less effected. I have a friend in NZ and she was pissed off when they were a lot more strict in lock down one but absolutely smashed it. Now their lives are as normal as anyone in the world and she went from hating Ardern to now being her biggest fan.

The Libs are turds for politicking shit in a pandemic IMO. It's one time you want everyone in the same direction. The media and opposite political parties have made this a more anxiety building exercise than they could have. It sounds as though NZ as much as anything worked because they were all working in unison across the country. The country needs to get moving but you don't want to trip at the last hurdle either. A day or two extra to get it right shouldn't make anything any worse than it has been.

In my business we have **** ups.

When you get one you go down a systemised problem solving path.

Containment is always ahead of root cause analysis.
They don't even talk about "blame" but that's often part of root cause analysis.

IMO , its a mistake to be laying blame or looking for the cause of ****ups while we are still in the containment phase.
The important thing is we do the right thing today, for today's circumstances.

Let the Witch hunt come later i believe.

I just hope the GF weekend doesn't cause more outbreaks and keep us locked down.

Keep trying to convince yourself he is doing a great job. Pity he didn’t do a great job to stop the second wave then we wouldn’t need to have him doing a great job. Grand final would be here in front of at least 50k. Same with crowds at the races. No idea why there isn’t any there on Saturday. That isn’t his fault. It’s those comparing crowds at the races to funerals. Even other states have limits on funerals but still big crowds to sporting events.

I think that’s funny. What about Melbourne cup day when people will be at other people’s houses?

New Zealand Did it as a country. We are doing it as the only state whilst others get on with life. We are stuffing up the rest of Australia. Of course it’s political and of course the media will make it a big deal. Maybe you live in a different world to me but people have sides in this. I certainly do. And it is a huge deal. No idea why you would expect either the government or the media to not make it otherwise.

Its a damming video, very harrowing.

plugger66 easy to do a laugh react but have you watched the video?
Of course not. We can all get videos of media reports of any party doing the wrong thing. I’m not going to bother watching or reading anything posted on here. Of course the person who does the video does it without bias. And I’m a multi millionaire

So you are not going to watch a video that exposes how deeply corrupt the LNP has been in NSW.

You would rather be in ignorance over the corruption that a party that you have voted for has done?

Haha. If we go by all the videos posted on here by certain people then no one would vote liberal but unfortunately the same people don’t mention anything labor do that’s wrong. When they give 2 sides to the story I might listen. I’m surprised the libs get one vote if you go from what some post on here.
