Yes it’s weird that out of 6 million people a few would break the rules. It’s not like people speed or drink drive. Normally all 6 million people in Victoria obey rules but let’s pretend a few don’t. Luckily every other state has non rule breakers and it’s only on the stupid Victorian people who caused the second wave. You know that theory actually makes no sense. Or then again maybe a few are breaking the rules because they have lockdown fatigue or are sick of restrictions. Who would have thought with 6 million people.

and if you really said that then you are a pretty ordinary human. I reckon youcould suggest putting on a mask without resorting to words like that.

I just hope that lots of people don't catch "speeding " and we all have to stop driving our cars because of it.

No i use words like that on purpose. She gets asked politely every day by the Premier.
Maybe the stigma of being abused in public will help . Maybe she finds it embarrassing. Good.

The mask is absolutely nothing. Its a little bit annoying. Tell me how it makes their lives better to not cover their nose, or not to wear it at all.
NO they do not all have breathing difficulties. Not that many.
Yes they can be difficult if you are exercising , you are allowed to take it of if you are struggling.

This woman had one, but every time someone came out of the door of the shopping centre, she pulled it down to speak to them. That takes away the whole point of wearing it. What is she a superspreader wannabe?

I don’t live in a bubble and nor do you, Australia has been very lucky to this point in time.

Please get a clue, do you think you’re the only one that’s frustrated or has been impacted by covid 19. Everybody in the world is dealing with this, for gods sake take a look around. It was obvious very early in the piece that this would only end if the virus mutated into a less harmful version, it ran through the world like the Spanish flu or a vaccine was found. It should be blatantly obvious that there is no living with covid as some idiots continue to tout, hello Sweden. Australia in the main hasn’t even had a first wave, a few cases from overseas travelers returning into quarantine isn’t a first wave.

Victoria because of the quarantine failure experienced a small taste of what others are dealing with and thankfully due to our isolation and the hard work and sacrifice of many we have been able to pull things back from the brink. We’re on the verge of easing restrictions and I assume we’ll operate in a similar fashion to nsw until the next crisis or a vaccine is rolled out.

Your old life and everybody else’s is gone and not coming back anytime soon, no amount of blame or petulant foot stomping is going to change that. Be thankful things aren’t worse and please do some research on how the rest of the world is fairing including economic comparisons, I think you’ll find that we are doing incredibly well on every measure.

I love your lockdown fatigue excuse, I have no doubt that’s real but I’ve seen idiots breaking the rules from day one. Groups having bbqs in public parks, others I know have continued to visit people as if nothing has changed hell I even walked in on a football team training at the ammos headquarters. Everyone who breaks the rules just makes it harder for the rest of us, increases the risk to others and potentially extends the very restrictions they rage against.

No you ant catch speeding but you can be hurt or killed. Not the point anyway. You keep blaming Victorians. We are no different to any other state. It’s illogical to think otherwise. And the real point is rules are broken when there are 6 million people. We can’t be to bad. Not many other countries have got rid of the second wave. And there is no excuse in speaking like that. Hope you are consistent and would also say the same to a bikie if he wasn’t wearing a mask. I’m doubting that. Please stop blaming Victorians as a group. 99.9 % are doing the right things. Hope you haven’t broken a rule even once

Another completely Sucked in by dan. To be honest I don’t even understand your response to what I wrote. Firstly who said I was the only one impacted. And why can’t I be pissed off. Secondlyas if other states haven’t broken the rules. The difference is you choose to believe Dan knows best and has the best helpers. I choose to use facts that they stuffed up quarantine they didn’t go hard enough on the blm initially they had poor contract tracing comparing to nsw and now this dhhs misunderstand. All these are facts yet some bring up things like we have more rule breakers than other states. Hat a load of illogical rubbish.

You can’t get your head around the fact that it doesn’t matter what party you support.

It‘s just a bit bigger than dan Andrews and Victoria, we’ve had an enquiry heads have rolled changes have been made move on. On a personal level stomp away it won’t change a thing, my point is people have broken the rules and raged against restrictions from day one. All they have done is potentially endanger others and delay an easing of the very restrictions they rage against.

I assume other states and by extension people in other countries that have restrictions have reacted in exactly the same manner as here, so what. There will always be idiots, obeying the rules is just common sense and obeying the law. What have I been sucked in by the tens of millions infected, the million plus deaths, the severe economic impacts?, the whole world in crisis?

You assume that because I see little point in calling for dan Andrews and Brett Sutton to resign that I’m a fan. I’m a fan of science that’s not driven by politics or business and I’ve cited the rest of the world with few exceptions of what to expect when you ignore how bloody lucky we have been. Don’t confuse our geographical advantage and public acceptance of restrictions for anything other than what they are, luck and science. The moment we let our guard down or think we have this beaten we‘ll be back in lockdown or worse.

I’ve read your posts for months and all I’ve seen is despite your denials liberal party talking points and petulant I want to go to the pub with my mates etc rants. Join the club is my point we all want our lives back and we want them back yesterday, the difference is most seem to understand that isn’t possible at present and that doing the right thing is the only logical choice.

We didn't have a second wave . We let the first wave back out of the bottle.
We don't have, and never had it scattered through our society like the European countries do.
Germany have done a great job under their circumstances.

If 99.9 are doing the right thing ( 1 in 1000 doing it wrong , nope sorry its more than that ) then i got to tell the someone who was 1 in 1000.

Plugger , that woman up Broadmeadows way, who sent her kid to school, who's family love to socialise with other family's in the area.. They are ok right, cos no-one is perfect? So hasn't cost thousands of people their livelihood by prolonging the lockdown.
That's right , you want to ignore them.
Yeahh....its the real world people gonna spread viruses, but lets open up anyway.

Nah.

The Family's behind the Casey outbreak probably cost us an extra month in lockdown from looking at the graphs.

the emotive rubbish that is in that post beggars belief. Trying to tie me disagreeing with the fool to being an advocate for more death. Pathetic and disgusting. If anything following dans lead previously his so called experts are the ones responsible for death not those saying the facts that they stuffed up.

Yes, I'll tell my sister in law that burying both of her parents due to covid is just emotional rubbish. My friends that are still having ongoing health problems fter covid that they are being emotive.

You are so ignorant and self entitled. If you ever get covid, please make sure that you tell the health workers it is all emotive rubbish. By the way as they incubate you, if you get really sick, they will put a tube in every hole in your body.

You think this is a parlour game, peoples lives are being shattered by the deaths and ongoing health issues. Economies can be rebuit. My sister in law will never see her parents again.

But hey emotive

What are your qualifications re epidemiology by the way? Let me guess. Like mine, SFA. So why should I listen to someone with no knowledge compare to someone who has studied the subject for decades? because you want to see your mates? FMD

Another post with emotive words. I understand the virus. I understand the rules and obey them. I don’t understand people who continually just listen to this fool and think he has his science mates are the ball all and end all. He still is saying the exact same words he said before the second wave that they caused. Before that I was happy to listen and agree but when you do that and they stuff up I’m sorry if I will role over like you and others and that say Dan knows what he is doing. If him and his mates knew what they were doing the grand final would have been here. And finally I can’t believe people are that selfish is saying Dan knows whilst thousands of businesses and people are suffering. You suggest I’m selfish well reckon you are also selfish for no caring of these people and just go with dan knows. Come up with fact just one proving they know. I’ve got plenty proving they know little.

Same emotive rubbish from you. Never answer questions or reply to statements but just come out with emotive stuff. You keep say his doctors are the experts but plenty of the same qualified doctors disagree with your mate. I listen to them and others and make up my own mind. Why would I want to listen to him and his mates who are in charge of the only state in Australia to get a second wave. Strange that you are so happy to trust him if your wife is in a dangerous industry.

The family in broadly love to socialise? Fact or made up. Strange that dhhs have said it’s a misunderstanding. No mention of fines like the guy in Kilmore. I can only go on what even the silly premier said that’s it’s a second wave. Maybe like most things Covid he has no idea. My point will continue to stand. It is illogical to think we have more rule breakers than other states and your suggestion that is the fault of Victorians. I think that is so unfair and more importantly just plain wrong.

I refuse to indulge you any further after this on this matter, I held off for a long time as i had a good idea as to how you’d respond.

Once more for the record and then I’m finished. I know people are suffering many through a potentially deadly illness and it’s complications, people who have lost their jobs and businesses. In reality just about everyone I assume is doing it tough some obviously more than others, mental health problems etc the list goes on. Ok so we’re on the same page I assume at least on this point?.

Now compare australia‘s including Victoria’s response which largely agrees with the national cabinets views with any other approach around the world. We have for a variety of reasons done exceptionally well by locking down, social distancing, masks, closure of high risk non essential businesses and schools. This approach is based on expert advice, modeling and drawing on the experiences of other countries who have tried different approaches. I won’t do your research for you but do yourself a favour and compare our economy including business activity, jobs data etc with countries who have opened. When you’ve done that I don’t know on what basis you would advocate for us to open up to business as normal which some have called for. It’s madness based on the science and simply won’t work, yep open up to 100,000 plus foreign students, open up for tourism etc.

If we pretend we’re different and ignore expert scientific opinion we’ll end up with a lot of ill and dead Australians and business etc will in fact be worse off. So explain to me again how I’ve drunk the cool aide when all I’m advocating is following expert advice which is working for us in incredibly difficult circumstances. Obviously everyone is hoping that a vaccine and therapeutics will arrive and lives can begin to be rebuilt but until then I’m sticking with expert advice and restrictions where necessary.

Just for the record scomo is arguing about dates for political gain his national cabinet agrees with almost all of Victoria’s approach to the covid crisis.

I don't hang on every word he says like gospel.
1st wave 2nd wave 3rd waver, it was 1st wave carriers we let out of quarantine.

Europe is totally different , it died down in summer , but it was still simmering away then came back. ( Next winter will be a huge test for us ).

Tell me this. We had stage 3 restrictions , how did the Virus spread from the breached quarantine under stage 3 restrictions.
Its pretty clear. People making dumb decisions and lots of them.
I still think we should have jail sentences like Europe, ( including Sweden ) do.
Home quarantine is fine.
But if you know you have Covid and you wilfully break quarantine you should be in Jail. Even without the health issues, people guilty of much less financial harm have been jailed. We sure as hell can't rely on everyone doing the right thing for the good of everyone else.

Apparently this was given out to people at one of the press releases. Showing how complicated the contact tracing can get, and how much interaction is going on.

In the end the real truth comes out. Labor versus liberal. You try to make it all impartial but you just could so again all your opinions are based on what that silly lanky man tells you. And nice opinion about scomo agreeing with most things. Emotive completely made up rubbish.

Back to the expert Scientific people again. I’m amazed some keep going back to that. This is the same people who gave us their expert work that were there when we got the second wave. The lanky prick then repeats the same crap he also said before the second wave like if we get out of this to early there will be another wave. Exact words he used before the second wave yet there are people still trusting him. The same man that was so weak initially about the blm protest. The same man who is all over everything but apparently knew nothing about security guard use in quarantine and has let others hang for that. Then our contract tracing was no where near the standard of nsw yet we should have had the most experience because we had the most cases And now the family of the child who went to school early are saying dhhs told them misinformation. How many things can stuff up before you realise this idiot has no idea. I would love just one fact to suggest dan is all over this. To me he has stage fright because he is struggling to back his departments It looks from the outside He doesn’t trust them to do their job properly.

No answer for illogical only Victorians must break rules. No one else had a second wave.

No one else had a hotel manager spreading the virus.
Fact? Or another story? I’ve never heard that. I do know a hotel in Sydney where 600 were on the night had a spreader and many got it. We had 20 people into our pubs at the time. Maybe they had much better contract tracing because they have dealt with 15 to 20 people a day yet never got a second wave especially after that pub was infected. Next try please.

There there emails leaked in August about it, and reported by the age and smh firstly

Manger interacted with them and spread it to the guards who spread it to the northern suburbs.

So the guards never got it off quarantine? That is a completely made up story? Weird that one pub manager started the second wave but a guy or girl who spread it in a pub with 600 people didn’t start a second wave even though they had many more freedoms in nsw. They should shut down the enquiry into quarantine now. No case to answer.

Even the WHO have said that Victoria was unlucky and didn't do anything that should have made it blow up here more than Sydney or Brisbane. In Italy some cities geographically close have had extremely different outcomes with similar measures. It's like a bushfire throwing embers out. The right conditions like cold weather, close confines etc etc can all contribute. People doing the wrong thing also doesn't help.

It's not one person's problem or one states problem. We have done well to contain it a second time. Most places didn't get a second chance at it.

I know you are keen as the rest of us to reopen but think about it. If it takes two more days just to be sure, surely it's worth it. Imagine if your mum got it or even you and couldn't work again because it permanently effected you heart or lungs.

You would be so ****ed off that our health department had ruined your quality of life by opening a few days before they were certain. The whole narrative that it's all one person's fault or somehow was perfectly avoidable but for one stupid move is idiotically naive.

5 of the 7 guards got it from the hotel night manager and the other 2 guards did not test positive for it at all.

Its not a made up story at all.

This is the thing. I’m not even slightly advantaged by reopening. The point is you either trust your departments or don’t. It’s always a few more days. Well unfortunately some business are a few more days away from going broke. I’ve been accused of being selfish yet all I want is business to open up for their sake not mine. When the pubs opened up last time I didn’t even go and probably won’t go again this time.

everyone who keeps wanting to trust dan always comes up with the what about this and that scenario. How about what about saying we just need to trust the departments and not wait for the perfect scenario.

and in dans view it’s not one persons fault. It’s others but not him. That scenario seems implausible for someone who is all over everything. Something many seem to acknowledge

So it wasn’t quarantine? It was hotel night manager? Nothing to do with people in quarantine being let out? Just out of interest why do you think ours spread from this guy but Sydney’s didn’t with more freedoms after that pub fiasco?
