You've got a lot of people supporting the democrat moving away from the big cities to avoid the higher cost of living.

Everything Trump Touches Dies review: a poison dart in the neck of the Republican monster
Political consultant Rick Wilson is horrified by what his party has done – and his book is much more than a brutally enjoyable roasting of those responsiblewww.theguardian.com
All I would say is be very very careful with the attacks on main stream media.Hope everything is okay mate.
Read your post the other day and then took a bit of time away from this thread but also just here in general. Feel like I can contribute positively now. Work in progress for me but I need to continue to be better at stopping myself getting caught up in the back and forth when it comes to very polarising topics because (and this is just me) I take it personally when I know I shouldn't. At least that's how I tend to read it.
Just gets too frustrating. Two complete opposite sides of a spectrum arguing with each other over points that the other won't concede. It is pointless in a way.
Something that will never change my view on the current political climate in America is how much we talk about it in here, so for me personally there's no point for me to continue discussing it. I already get enough of this rhetoric in the papers and on TV every day.
My final comment re: politics - I will not respond or take issue with anyones opinion regarding it, and will be the last I will say - Want to close the book on this and feel like I need to clarify my position as to not give off the wrong impression to others that may have thought differently;
First and foremost I am a swing voter, I look at both policies and then decide on who I agree with most. That is regardless of election, regardless of party and regardless of country. I think IMO that is the most logical way to form a view. This election specifically for me was more anti-Biden than pro-Trump. We as a society are inundated with left wing media coverage so for me I look at centrist and sometimes right wing news to get a better balance and perspective.
Regardless of candidate though what I am more worried about however is mainstream media and how they control the narrative. In 2016 they said Russia was involved in the rigging of the election, but now in 2020 fraud never happens. This is not to say I agree with the statement but this is just a small example of how at the end of the day the candidate the media wants in, gets in. And it happens almost every time. I cannot remember the last time a candidate won an election despite disapproval from mainstream media. Please tell me if I am mistaken.
MM's divide and conquer strategy has been their MO for the past four years to what I can only see as trying to remove one person from office and put a new one in. Maybe it actually goes deeper than that, I guess we will now find out. One of the biggest issues in America right now is racial division. Ask yourselves - does the mainstream help or hinder the efforts to quell racial tension in America? Do they report on all serious crimes, or are they selective? For me - Firstly, they will be selective in their delivery of the news. They will report 95% of the time on white on black crime. They will continue to push this narrative and then when something like George Floyd happens - a disgraceful murder that has no place in any society - the foundations for the public to erupt have already been built. They have been slowly drip-fed a misrepresentation of what is happening in their communities and because they control the narrative they have power over the viewer. They don't mention that more white Americans are killed by police officers per year, and they don't mention the black on black or black on white crime. And if they do, it pales in comparison to the coverage that helps push their narrative.
Lastly, please don't perceive me as one of those pro-Trump lunatics on social media. At the end of the day we will be fine if Biden ends up in office, and honestly as long as there's no wars erupting I'm cool with that. My issue with the current way of things is bigger than Biden v Trump. Power structures beyond them need to be broken down and we need to find new ways to function as a society. Regardless of what you think of Trump I think he has challenged many of these structures, and if proven to be true regarding this fraud fiasco, it will open up pandora's box on the inner workings of a system that needed to be changed a long time ago. We are in a new time, and we need new practices, new structures, and new framework under which we live.
Again hope you are okay V and if anyone wants to respond to anything political I've said here please just PM me because I won't be responding in this thread on this topic any further.
Cheers![]()
LOUD NOISES!Two words ... "silent majority" ... Make of that what you will.![]()
Lets be frank, a blanket view of MSM is misguided. Its like a blanket view of Trump voters all being toothless hillbily's in combat gear and open carrying white supremists.
So over simplified that it just skews everthing.
Murdoch owns all print media in QLD, Labor increases their vote by 5% and easily is re elected.
Fox News in the US is extremely powerful but still trump is booted. And lets face it. Fox, MSNBC, CNN, and the Networks breathlessly reported everything Trump muttered no matter how looney or controversial as it was great for ratings. They will continue to feature him for their audience, Fox will laud him, MSNBC will berate him.
Just remember Fox beat the dead horse of Bengazi for months because of three American deaths under Obama, but make excuses for the qtr million dead under Trump.
MSNBC have recruited Republican neo cons as contributers, have anti Trump host like Morning Joe berating him day after day, and if trump looks to buy OAN and take on Fox, MSNBC will try to recruit right leaning ex Foxers so they have a veneer of impartiality.
CNN, well they have actors like Chris Hayes, Chris Coumo, or Don Lemon who read their scripted rants off a tele prompter. Fox has Ingram, Carlson, Hannity, doing the exact same thing from the opposite team.
They all have one thing in common, they want ratings through sensationalism and fear.
Remember the breathless reporting of cities being boarded up prior to the election in expectation of riots? Now they are speculating on trump calling out the militia's. FMD militia's meet US armed services. Don't these people know where the feck they live.
Fear sells. Fear rates. Don't expect it to change, just the narrative of whichever cable news your watch. Fox will hate Biden, MSNBC will ove him, and CNN will hopelessly try to con their audience they are neutral.
All the while the poor get poorer, health care is hideous, and the corporates and stock market are laughing until they wet themselves.
The major papers have recovered readership in part thanks to Trump's obsession with them. Online subscriptions are getting bigger for the likes of the NYT, and WP. Who do you think they will continue to report on?
I think it is easy to have false equivalences though (eg. they are all just as bad as each other).
I thought Malcolm Turnbull made some really good points when talking about the murdoch press on insiders yesterday. He said they have essentially become a vehicle for political propaganda. He contrasted this with the Guardian, which although is pretty clearly left leaning, don't make stuff, don't engage in vendettas, don't encourage conspiracy theories, don't cover up the misdeeds of their friends in politics or hammer vindictively those regarded as their enemies. He said that this can't be said about news corp anymore.
We need to be able to agree about basic facts and in my opinion, the murdoch press (fox included), engages far too often in bad faith and misinformation.
I agree that MSNBC, CNN etc. all have serious flaws. But seriously, what the hell is this bs, it is just the dumbest sh*t ever:
I think it is easy to have false equivalences though (eg. they are all just as bad as each other).
Empty vessels make the loudest noise.LOUD NOISES!
Joe Rogan whilst good entertainment value is been given far too much credibility to the point they were saying he should host a debate like WTF!
Rogan shits me nowdays. Has any nutjob on with their crazy bs, from all sides of the political spectrum.
All you have to do to get street cred if you are Rogan is to spout homespun claptrap and then say "no F##ken way" in an incredulous voice when these 'guests' forward their idiocies.
He was one of the many so called neutrals who pushed the 'Biden has cognitive impairment' fallacy and he urged people to vote Trump because of it. I mean WTF?
covfefe
Yosemite
Person, woman, man, camera, TV
Yes a giant of oratory.
Then he buckles when a guest pushed back on his position. Rogan is a fraud.

How Sky News quietly became Australia’s biggest news channel on social media
It may have a small number of television viewers, but Sky News Australia's influence is far reaching.www.smh.com.au
This is what scares me. Sky news has become Australia's biggest news channel on social media. It's pretty depressing.
I cannot remember the last time a candidate won an election despite disapproval from mainstream media.
Trump? Brexit?
Abbott the first time, Howard a couple of times, George W Bush the second time, Clinton the second time.
Probably plenty more I'm not remembering.
