A boy asked his father, "Dad, how did my sister Teresa. Get her name?
" Well your mother really loves Easter and Teresa is an anagram of that."
"Thanks, Dad."
"You're welcome, Alan!"
Took me three goes, but worked it out.

I'll use that one thanks.

Now what about the story of the Magic Apple?

Anyone on here got any experience with Keto Diet and/or 16:8 fasting?

I've started lowering the carbs a lot the last few weeks and trying to get into a keto diet and also been following 16:8 most days.

When training (usually weights session followed by some HIIT or a cardio session on it's own (like a boxing class) I usually try and plan so it's in the middle of my eating window so I can fuel up first, but been reading it's better to train fasted and I just can't imagine ever having the energy for that.

Anyone got any experience / opinions on this?

This is one of the best jokes I've heard in ages - GOLD.

It went down a treat around the Xmas dinner table. A couple got it at first and slowly it dawned on the others. Nary a chortle nor s****** from anyone at the table. Just silence as one by one, the pennies dropped, as the rest caught on. Only in private did I receive my thoroughly deserved kudos. Even my dear old mum in law thought it was a pearler. I thought the reaction was funnier than the joke. Many have promised to use it. Be one of them. It has taken the dad joke to a slightly higher, classier level. It would no doubt get me a permanent ban on saintsational.

I've already sent it to 3 whatsapp groups and to 2 colleagues via chat.

Not claiming it as mine BTW...but if nobody asks

A modern take on the old two dogs joke...

Claim it, Indie Rock. May as well. There have only ever been four jokes written in all of human history. All others are derivatives of the original four. There is nothing new under the sun.

Indie, I've been Keto and 16:8 for approximately 6 years. I recently switched (2 months ago) to Keto and 20:4 because it gave me a little bit more flexibility with what I can eat at meal times. I don't have any issues with exercising on an empty stomach and I don't feel like I lack energy, but every person is different. Try exercising in a fasted state and see how you go. My endurance running actually improved.
If you feel like reading further, Diet Doctor is a great resource for anything Keto or related to intermittent fasting

Thanks mate, this is really helpful.

I looked at 20:4 also.....do you manage to get enough calories in during the 4 hour window?

Think I’ll stick to 16:8 for now and try and slowly increase it.

Great article. Thanks :thumbsu::thumbsu:

From my personal experience focusing on calorie control with adequate macros does the job. I’ve tried low carb/high fat, carb cycling & IF on & off for many years.

I still regularly implement IF when I am looking to shed a bit of fat/weight but that’s only really because I like to eat larger portions. Actually right now I’m implementing IF & eating between about 12-6 (not super strict) & it suits my lifestyle just fine. I’ve never been a big fan of breads so most of my carbs come from rice, potato & sweet potato.

I’m certainly not an advocate for excluding all carbs from the diet like keto. Part of a consistent & sustainable diet is treating yourself on the odd occasion!

All depends on your goals & what suits your lifestyle. For me I like to lift weights & don’t do a whole lot of cardio but also remain quite lean year round which is mainly due to a consistent calorie control diet that includes enjoying yourself for the sustainability.

I never worry about calories. I just eat until I'm satisfied. Whatever you do just make sure it is sustainable. 20:4 works well for me during the working week. On weekends I sometimes have switch to 16:8 to fit in with my family and friends. Flexibility is one of the keys to success.

Doing the Man Shake protein shake at the moment.
Replace one meal with a shake and cut out the shit.
Pretty easy.

I did the 5:2 intermittent fasting for about 7 months two years ago.
It was pretty slow weight loss, but worked really well for me.

I do think it’s important to find the best one for you. I am not a breakfast eater, so a cuppacino in the morning (the milk is filling) and then keeping busy at work all day, usually without a snack, but drinking a tea or coffee, or at best a small handful of almonds worked for me. It’s a little tough between the time I get home and dinner time, but I manage.

Initially I did weigh my food as I had no idea of the calorie count but after a while I estimated, watching my portion size. And of course, no after dinner snacking either - I think that’s the killer.

I couldn’t do exercise on those days, but I enjoyed the fact that on the other five days I could have a small piece of chocolate or a cookie etc so I didn’t feel deprived.

I wasn’t very good about the maintenance however (1:6) so have put on a little of the weight again, but have just started the 5:2 again today.
