The Spiders Web : Britain’s second empire

City of London Corporation - Over 500 banking institutions

Half of the global wealth is held in offshore jurisdictions paying no tax.

You won’t believe it is possible but it happened and it will continue till infinity.

After 30 years of front line Policing the constant pressures and trauma eventually bit me on arse. I was lucky to come out the other side with the support of my family. Too many of my friends and colleagues have not been so lucky and taken their own lives.

There is no line of Policing where people can hide from some sort of exposure. Drake is right in recommending the National stream of the AFP for opportunities outside Australia. Although it is not without its own stressors, serious organised crime, counter terrorism, sex trafficking, international kiddy pr0n, also attending incidents like the Phuket Tsunami, the Ukraine Malaysian Airline bombing etc.

In short it can be an adrelin filled and rewarding job, but would I recommend it to anyone - absolutely not. The personal and family sacrifices are way to significant and no agency can pay enough for that. My advice to any young person would be look at any and all alternatives other than Policing.
Thank you for your service, IS.

Just buy a 1 bedder in Monaco. Allowed to claim as primary residence without stepping foot in the country for up to 5yrs. Zero tax..

Why are all gambling companies based in Vanuatu or similar - exact same reason.

Amidst all the controversy about whether #diehardisachristmasmovie, why isn't Lethal Weapon ever discussed? It came out in '87, the year before Die Hard, started just as popular an action movie franchise, and was - wait for it - set during Christmas.

Might as well include Xmas pr0n classics such as
" Dirty Ho Ho Ho's" and " Dick the Halls" in this conversation as well.

Because Lethal Weapon was rubbish while Die Hard is the GOAT for action movies

Lethal Weapon was the prequel to Mel's tribute to his father, Hutton, "The Passion of the Christ". The first celebrated the arrival of JC, while the second depicted his rather brutal exit. There are numerous similarities between the films, with hidden messages and euphemisms. The films both use pathos and allegory in generous amounts.

The secret link comes in Danny Glover's immortal line, " I'm getting too old for this shit!" It is repeated in The Passion of the Christ by Jim Caviezel, who plays the unfortunate King of the Jews. While being mercilessly flogged by a Roman soldier in the lead up to the imminent crucifixion, JC can clearly be heard to mutter, "I'm getting too old for this shit!"

Of course you may have missed it, as JC said these words in Aramaic, the language of his time. In fact, due to Mel's fanatical brand of Catholicism, the whole film is in Aramaic. The spooky bit is both lines are uttered at exactly the same time point in the respective films.

You know it makes sense. No need to thank me, it was my pleasure. I'll see myself out.

Interesting. I never made the connection but imagine I'm not alone there.

Fat Yak Pacific ale is a surpisingly good hot day beer. I'm not normally massive on the Yak range (Session ale is a shocker) but this one is quite nice.
i really dont rate the Yak beers .... the beer of choice for me this christmas was Fremantlr (and geelong) brewer Little Creatures Dog Days summer ale ... a hoppy brew with a fresh crisp taste perfect for a hot summer ... also go a six pack of their ever popular Rogers and a 6 pack of the Elsie ... seriously good beers the lot of them

I see Dog Days is on special at Aldi soon. I might grab a pack, never had them but hear they are very sessionable.

I don't normally drink Yak ales (will very occasionally get one out at a pub), but got given an assorted gift box for Christmas/as a thank you present. Enjoying the pacific ale which I haven't had before.

it is very easy to drink ... the fact it also comes in the smaller can so you can get it super super ice cold makes it go down even easier ... before you know it you are 6 cans deep and making grand claims of physical strength ... (or maybe thats just me )

Mitchell Marsh has shown once again that at best he is a handy shield player . How he gets a game for Australia is beyond me . It’s not like he’s scoring lots of runs or taking wickets for WA . He must have naughty photos of the selectors , it’s the only explanation.
Shaun Marsh doesn’t deserve to play either . Both are only lucky that the team is so weak at the moment. Neither show any potential forte future , its time better young players were given a chance to improve their game .

Both are lasting monuments to the nepotism and cronyism that exists in Australian cricket. Never have so few done so little, to deserve so many opportunities. I wonder how Brad Hodge, Cam White, Jamie Siddons and Stuart Law feel about the Marsh's continued selections?

I dunno, I reckon Mitch Marsh is a pretty good batsman for a fast bowler, at least 10% better than Glen McGrath was.

I am wondering if Peter Handscombe will be recalled for the next test played in WA at the expence of one of the Marshes? Not long ago precedence was shown to the player from the State where the test was being played. Although it has become quite common for a Victorian to dropped to make way for anybody.

Basically we have two decent batsmen and both are suspended. There doesn't seem to be a great deal of talent coming in behind these guys. A few have one game here or there but can't really sustain any form.

I know he's a bit of a loose unit!
But it's got me befuddled how the hell Maxwell can't get a look in
With this shite batting lineup!
