In Greek, maybe , at least in in its earlier form, αδέλφια... ish. I'm not so sure you can do that with αδέρφοι these days...?
You called!
How can i help you today Georgie?
I am actually curious about this one. In koine Greek, αδέλφια is often used to mean "brothers and sisters" (it's been a major point of discussion among Bible translators for a few decades). What about the modern αδέρφοι?

(yes it's a thread derail, but hey it's off-season...)

It's energy policy in Canberra, they still haven't had a policy since Rudd. My mate works for AGL and before that in wind power, the companies all want a framework and policy so they can invest but instead they hold back until they have certainty. The wind company closed down because they set up with government contracts that got torn up and lost their funding. Stayed for 4 years waiting for a green light that was promised but the policy never came and changed by the month. Still haven't managed to work anything out in Canberra. Meanwhile we sell out gas for nothing overseas. Dumb country with dumb politicians.
You bet we are but we have plenty of mates, this same old chestnut of being able to provide reliable base load.

Community service obligation is a term that went out the window but that’s really what our government of the day has in relation to power, water, public health etc. Yet here we are muddling on with rolling blackouts, waiting lists a mile long and no real policy or direction on so many things, it’s a national disgrace.

They would hate me I would demand a root and branch review of anything that has even a hint of a community service obligation about it. I would include water, food production including farm ownership and fisheries etc anything that could be owned and run by the states or commonwealth would be subject to a buy out or strict rules and regulations. If it’s not serving the public’s interest then who is it making rich and why?, what’s our cut?. Ask the big questions and put together experts suitably qualified to produce the answers on everything from climate change to food security and immigration and publish the findings so we can all read it.

We have a federal election coming up but the media are so obsessed with Trump that we hear and read more about the US. How about we really dig into who the candidates are and what each party’s policy’s are, some of the people currently in parliament aren’t fit to run a Jim’s dog washing franchise. It makes me scratch my head in disbelief sometimes, there is no reason why anyone be they man, woman any religion etc can’t be a great politician but we don’t seems to be able to find more than a handful yet they talk about imposing quotas.

Maybe we should elect half and make the other half serve like jury duty, hard to see how they could do much worse than the current bunch.

Is anybody following the Purdue pharma ocycontin scandal and the darling Sackler family who have made billions out of it.

Just another area where government oversight has completely failed and the public are getting ripped off and worse by multinationals.

You know us Greeks Perse, We are multisexual! ......;)
Basically anything that moves!
That last one strictly means Sister my friend! :)

Are you a fire fighter?
Did 15 years - no longer involved.

Mixture of boring hard hot work and occasionally (thankfully very occasionally) sheer panic.

My mate who took this photo has the best fire job - fly's around in helicopters fire spotting and plotting fire boundaries.

I have a mate who is a fire fighter who has been recently diagnosed with Leukaemia. He believes it has been directly caused by his fire fighting duties.

I'm told the Greeks invented sex. It was the Romans who perfected it with women.😜

Amen to all of the above.

That foam they use is really toxic. They can't drink any water in Katherine these days and have to have bottle water shipped in to drink and cook because the airforce base used it and it seeped into the aquifer.

Wait, so αδέρφοι means sister?

(I MAY have just got myself into some hot water with a Greek theologian I know...)

Yersss! They perfected it with the Women from all species....
Horses...Pigs....Chickens!
The only reason Greek shepherds wore robes is because the donkeys savvied on to the sound of zippers.

And the only reason they always had sex with their donkeys at the cliff edge was because they liked the way the donkey pushed back harder...

What's that all about Yawkey?

Yeah, he was saying that current regulations are that after fighting a 'toxic' fire they destroy their PPE. They don't even take a single thing home to be cleaned as they recognise that the toxic chemicals leach into suburban groundwater. He was also saying that employment regulations are that if you fight 15 'toxic' fires within a certain time frame you gain eligibility for reimbursement of medical bills. However, he has had to get in legal representation to ensure that the costs of his treatment are paid by the authority. It's sad on many levels to see someone firstly contract the illness. But also someone who has been so proud of the work he does, and for such a long time, reduced to fighting government for every inch of his rights as an employee.

What has 6 legs and runs around the paddock?

A Greek farmer making a ewe turn...

This thread has really taken a classy turn. This must be a first for BF. Bestiality jokes. If there are any other ways to lift the tone, please let me know. 😜

Diversification seems to be a buzz word and our Kiwi neighbours are not ones to be left behind. They have discovered two new and lucrative revenue streams for the lambs that they lovingly grow and nuture.
1. Meat
2. Wool

What's that all about Yawkey?
Purdue developed and market OxyContin which is one of the painkillers that so many people because addicted to spawning the current crisis.

The Sackler family particularly one or two members have pushed the drug hard, lied about its strength and how addictive it is deaths per etc, all in the name of greater profits. This is all coming out now and will I assume lead to lawsuits and hopefully charges being laid.

Just another example of big pharma lying or hiding information about their products whilst pushing the drugs at great cost to the public purse and health.

I wonder how many bureaucratic pockets got lined in the process.
