Yeah all black and white VSD, half our country is evil and half is good.
We can all get more penalty rates and make more money and be better off... cos that works and stuff.
We'll get rid of big businesses cos they are all fat cat rich bastards. We'll just buy stuff from importers and they won't be greedy and rob us blind.
The Labor government would never side with the USA in international affairs because we don't need no goddam arms treaty , our armed forces are massive and we can look after ourselves right?
All simple shit.

AUSTRALIA WE BUILD HOUSES AND MOW LAWNS MAKE COFFEE AND GET PENALTY RATES. Lets make that work.

My biggest concern with government is that neither main party seems to realize that we rely of the rest of the world for a hell of a lot, and we don't do jack shit for the rest of the world. No-one wants to invest money into Australia for anything except mining, so if you like we aren't much better off than East Timor. That doesn't bode well for anything. Average wealth, building state of the art solar power stations, improving public transport. If we are the poor kids , we aren't going to get that stuff. If we think Britain is stuffed, we are way more stuffed.

You think its a coincidence that Germany leads the way in so much of that stuff?
No the liberals aren't fixing it , but your heroes aren't going to make it better either.

I don't think the people are evil, both major parties have been allowed to start taking money from business and the wealthy and it guides their judgement. The current Liberal / national party coalition is the worst in my memory on either side as far a pillaging goes though. They seem almost cynical in their greed and poor decision making. I'm over both sides really. Independents are going to get more and more votes as people disengage from their petty squabbles about nothing and poor decision making.

I used to get in to politics but it's like trying to find gold flakes in a turd at the moment. On penalty rates, if you don't have money in the workers pockets they don't spend on retail or services so it's a better financial decision than giving tax breaks to the wealthy because the money isn't recirculated into the system.

I frequently have gold flakes in my turds!
Is that good?
The whole country's political landscape is the worst i can ever remember, and that's saying something!
Not exactly brimming with confidence in the labour party either but compared to the Coalition they look like angels!

How anyone can defend the current Govt has got me completely baffled! They are far worse than just plain evil like Howard was
At least that old crafty prick knew how to keep his house in order, this mob are just plain Incompetent!

It's like a cloud of shitness has descended over politics, the good guys have given up or resigned themselves to being independents who try to put the brakes on damage from ill-conceived policy. It seems to be universal with western democracies having a really poor regard for the political class.

I wonder if capitalist democracies needed to have a yin to their yang with the reds held up as disgraceful tyrants who spied on their people and snuffed any discourse that challenged the status quo.

I've had Foxtel for 20+ years but with the advent of Netflix, Youtube and Spotify I now only use it for sports. I downloaded the Kayo app last night and am giving it a trial. The Chrome casting to my TV works really well and I have watched yesterday's game and highlights a few times. At $25.00 a month I thinks its good value.
Anyone got any feedback regarding Kayo e.g. streaming quality during live games, because at the moment I can't see a reason not to join.

The really scary thing is that in the pre coalition period government debt was relatively low but the media kept a mythology of fiscal responsibility going that was running counter to the facts and on top that personal debt in a Australia was out of hand, something that is still there. What you really don't want is a recession with a heap of personal debt. It's the perfect storm with asset write offs eating into banks profits and the reserve bank probably needing to step in and bail out the banks to keep the country running. Then owing huge amounts on top of that leaves you exposed to having to be bailed by foreign banks and you have to sell everything off like Greece.

No surprises there...
So it's been reported that some of the desertingvrats are entitled to a $200k annual super payout.

If they hang around in opposition, their average annual salary declines, which means that if they hung around for another 3 years, their annual pension would drop to $160k per annum... On top of any private sector earnings.

These same rats voted to cut penalty rates lol.

Yes it applies to a few Labour pollies as well. At least they want to reintroduce penalty rates.

Like I said, the lesser of two evils.

If they were handing out degrees for Greed, every politician would get a PhD.

I don't like the user interface, but the streaming quality has been excellent.

I've had to keep a closer eye on the fires more than normal. The grandparents live in Garfield which in the Emergency Warning area.

From what I've been told from the old man who has talked to them the fires are up at the freeway if not already over.

Have a look on google maps, the main fires are in forested areas and if living there be VERY careful.
IMO if you are surrounded by paddocks , make sure the lawns are mowed, clear the gutters and watch out for ember strike.

A little fire that you can easily stomp out can burn your house if no-one is there.
Government tell everyone to leave everywhere, so no-one can sue them.

and the “Free travel for life” has not got a mention.
The killer is they are Frequent Flyer members so they got the taxpayer to pay for the flights and then got
the points for even more free travel for them & family in the future.

I think that’s theoretically correct but from memory there’s a bit more to it.

It’s a designated benefit in the old now closed scheme based on your final average Salary over the last X number of months multiplied by a figure based on years and rate of contributions. I could be wrong but I seem to remember some clause that allowed you to contribute to the scheme at the same rate if you had been doing so for over 12 months.

The wash up is that under those rules they’d only miss out on any pay increases for super purposes during that period so rather than dropping back the FAS would remain the same.

It’s pretty funny really, there’s that smell of fear in the air and all the rats are looking for the exit. I bet the shredders are getting a work out and the private staffers will be looking for new jobs haha.

The staffers will be fine. They can get jobs as one of those vacant looking dudes that stand behind politicians nodding furiously whenever one of them is talking on camera. It never ceases to amaze me that someone thought this a good idea in the first place, let alone continue it without question. It comes across with the sincerity of Pell with a bag of lollies reassuring a group of choir boys.

You get a government car and driver and an office for life too. It's good gig if you can handle being around a pack of grubs for 10 years. All that while taking $700 a day as a pension.
