Well it's not our fault, we need oil and they have lots of it. If we want to make their countries unstable to get our hands on it we have to dehumanise them. Israel doesn't mind the stigma being attached too because it allows them to colonise without criticism from the rest of the world. World politics is depressing, the 20th century looked like it might be progressing to a more rational place but we are just as divided, greedy and unjust as we have ever been.
I know muslim people that are no different from me except they don't drink, they come to social stuff, just don't drink but don't judge us while drinking in front of them or push their faith on anyone. I think if people actually got to know some of them they would realise they are just people living their lives like us. They aspire to buy a house, get their kids educated and live safely and securely.

It's just unbelievable that he is a senator with 19 actual votes and the system allows it. Same with guys like Ricky Muir. They represent a handful of people yet get all the entitlements of a parasitic politician. In two years time politicians pensions are going to be over $1 billion a year out of the public purse.

Unfortunately just another case that confirms we are a seriously flawed species who may or may not manage evolve into something better but right at the moment remain capable of the most hideous crimes on our own on so many levels.

Times like these I think the taxonomists need to do a review of the criteria they use to classify homo sapiens - it disturbs me to be classified as the same species as these low lifes.

When you use a position of power to isolate, then denigrate groups of people for your own personal advancement, then you really got to be banking on there being no karma, no after life, no judgement, no God.

My wife is doing her masters in psych at the moment and being a boring person I keep reading her course material, it leads a sense of compassion to even the most ****ed people. You can only assume so much has fractured his mental wellbeing that he thought that was an option. It's devastating to anyone caught in his wake but the guy must have some seriously disturbed thoughts. He might have been that person left out or excluded. It's a reminder to be nice to everyone and try to keep people involved and included in society.
A while back I was walking my dog and she went up to a homeless guy, she started licking him and interacting with him, it made his day and his eyes were welling up, I spoke to him because of it and you could see his joy at being noticed and valued. people who feel removed from society or socially excluded can act in horrific ways but making them feel like part of something might just help.
I have family that are farmers and know guns are required by some people, but why are we letting semi automatic weapons out on the streets, they are military weapons. There is no need to have anything that has a quick repeat action anywhere but in armies...and even then.

Sometimes the human race just looks doomed for it's inevitable fate but there is still so much good stuff in the world it keeps you engaged in the positivity loop.

A pessimist masquerading as an optimist, much like here where I'm more of an extrovert when in reality wholly introverted with social anxiety.
Only thing is, I know what masks I wear, because you kinda have to when you try to off yourself so you don't go back to those sort of places again. Checks and balances.
Humanity is fine, the very second the propensity for good vanishes is the moment we die as a species a slow generational death until at the brink of salvaging the future we either grow up or cease to exist.
I just have no faith we'll get there, after all, our history as a species is killing each other, and after 2 world wars that were supposed to end all wars we have Europe fracturing, western civilisations trending towards isolationism and fear and the middle eastern block is slowly cruising to WW3 as India & Pakistan clash, Pakistan continues to lose sovereignty to others and states like Russia and China flex in the region.
The "horrible" nature things like what happened in NZ are so very small in the scope of the species, but at the same time the inherent reason why there is no faith; we focus too much on the negativity and the differences which divide us instead of the common purpose.
Thank you kindly, enjoyed my time off, also enjoying being able to leave at time and my weekends back.
