I hate it too. I dont want to hear how bad the other mob are. I want to hear what you are going to do.

I suspect the tactic is to go as negative as hell when youre in opposition then be more positive when youre in power.

I draw comparisons to my industry...

Trying to win the argument doesn't work. People will choose the person who tells them what they want to hear.

Shorten is to be applauded with his big policies, but as we saw with Keating, Australians don't like big vision despite always complaining about the lack thereof.

Labour was too bold in hindsight. As soon as you hint at taking away money, you're toast. Even if it is an equitable solution.

Fear sells. Always has and always will.

Get in office then deal with big policy.

Against Turnbull the alp couldn't win with Shorten so they campaigned on policy.

This time around, they didn't need to. Should have let the Libs implode instead of going big target.

Problem is they now have to jettison their big ticket reforms because they have been rejected twice.

They also desperately need a non union leader.

Steady up man! No need for that crap! Just enjoy your victory for the superior beings you clearly are! :smirk:
Gracious, you are not!

And of course the Libs and toss pots like Alan Jones have never smeared anyone have they?
Just had a disturbing thought about Jones and his particular brand of smearing! My God! :weary:
Loved his lime suit tonight though, very fetching!

I'm not actually that invested in either political party.
But VDS in particular likes to go at people who have a different view to him, the way Steven Baker likes to stop his opponent getting the ball.

Get used to it. Labor are going to go full negative in 3 years time. Its the only way to win.

They already were, Shorten was bizzarely promoting his "positive" campaign , while nearly ever advertisement was going the smear.
Or attacking the libs for an education and health funding shortfall that was simply and extrapolation compared to an imaginary Labor funding.
Outright lies.
The only "grand vision" i heard was some crap about electric cars without any explanation about how it would be achieved.

Lol the Allan Jones mouthpiece has awoken, strutting around like peacock, defending his racist mates Abbot and Dutton as expected.

Just dont go out to dinner in case those Sudanese gangs attack you...

Enjoy the next three years living in xenophobic fear and victimhood.

Thats the problem Shorten had an each way bet. He should have been hammering how bad the Libs were.

You mean like literally the majority of the Liberal party?

All of them dumb the issue down, both sides. People are emotional about it, but the fact is neither party can do more than influence a small percentage of a small percentage of global warming.
But it seems that people want action, so some the politicians will run in circles if people think it will help save them from global warming.
Like it or not Australia will be followers in any solution.
We'll buy electric cars when they become cheap and good.
We'll use better power generation when its developed.
It won't be Australia developing it though. Anything invented here is sold, unless some bright politician finds a way to reverse that trend.

LOL still attacking the man VDS.
The other day two women of Sudanese appearance knifed each other outside a very large popular shopping center near me. Shoppers were alarmed when some of the crowd ran among them saying " its ok i'm just standing near you so the cops don't come after me " . Its a different society.

But me, i don't live in fear. You really aren't as clever as you think you are VDS.
Abbot and Dutton are not my mates, nor are they favored politicians of mine. I don't worship any of them or drink their bathwater like you do VDS .
If i ever hear Alan Jones, its a random appearance on a tv show i'm watching.

But you know all VDS.
And if i think you're wrong you'll try to smear me, just like your mates do.

And shorten. Why is it pricks like you have to smear everyone. Just like the labor party does.
You call me morally bankrupt but you think you can smear anyone you like.
Abbott has done far more than you ever will.

That's quite hilarious...

Apart from job titles, please, oh please name me 5 things that Abbott ever did to improve the lives of Australians.

Go on, go for it.

As far as smearing him, as you say it's a democracy so get used to it.

Abbott's record speaks for itself when even his own party is happy to see the back of him.

Go on... 5 things. I'm waiting.

That's what you get for calling people pricks, champ.

The reality is that your belittling of people who have bigger ideas on climate change and calling them.lefties started the rot.

And never once stopping to consider the alternatives and dismissing their thoughts simply because it won't make difference.

Own it and move on.

I don't know all, but I can honestly see from your comments that I have a more open mind to these issues than you do.

You'd disagree about the advantages of economic management which provides the best framework for businesses, and hence employment, since you follow some bizzare religion with an archaic belief that every business is run by a fat cat boss, and the public coffers are bottomless, and the only reason we don't pour unlimited funding into health and education is because those with the money are nasty nazi's. So i won't bother.

Bigger ideas are not always practical , so not necessarily better. Its easy to say, "i have the biggest idea , so i win" but its wrong. Throwing money at it can't fix the problem and it has consequences. The " tragedy of the commons" also applies to global warming. In the tragedy of the commons, those doing the right thing don't win. In fact no-one wins. That's the real issue that needs to be overcome.

Perhaps you should have gone down that path in the first place?

You are eager to jump on here to ram the result down my throat. Good for if it makes you feel better.

Anyway, perhaps ask StMuir what he thinks of Abbott and why.

Right now I am.blessed to be alive and about to spend the day with close family and friends.

Sorry if I got personal.

That's better lads! A bit of respect goes a long way!

Personally i am of the believe that mankind has drifted into a cesspool of greed and fear of which
There is no turning back!
Finding it harder and harder to believe in anything good these days!
Twas hard enough knowing i am doomed, because of choices i have made!
But seeing the masses suffer due to hate, paranoia and lies makes me oh so incredibly sad!

Bet my left nut his workers won't get paid.

The government paid out $20 million to cover some of their entitlements. Don't think we'll see that again. I have some mates who are family of Liberal stalwarts and they are unhappy with the result, they hate the current set up and the swing towards right wing populism. Even rusted on old liberals don't like the current lot. The better ones jumped ship out of frustration.

Hey, I congratulate the Libs on the win they played it better and won, but Abbott was wrecker, even inside the Liberals he was someone who was not a team player and really screwed up any chance of positive policy change. I know for a fact here are many Liberals celebrating his removal.

I think off shore money to avoid tax is a no brainer, governments shouldn't let them tender for government projects and should chase them for any thing they make locally. We need to buy back all our utilities to make hem cheaper and move to renewables as part of that, it will be cheaper than maligning new old technology.

The money from non tax paying businesses do make it harder to pay for the things we need as well. Privatisation will go one day as the model can't sustain with more needed every year to give back to share holders. So the prices rise. One day people will demand it go back.

More money going through small business generally gets redistributed through our local economy which creates jobs and results in healthy retail and services though. We should prioritise the small business economy.

OECD rankings say that the Liberals are consistently worse economic managers than Labor though. That isn't just some labor shills either, it's a collection of independent economists. Unemployment and underemployment are consistently lower under Labor, wages are higher and workers rights are better. The only reason we don't hear about it far and wide is because old mate Rupert Murdoch owns most of the news outlets in Aus and is intent on convincing Australia of the biggest fraud in history, that the Libs are better with money than Labor. You know Australia has only ever had two treasurers rated as best treasurerin the OECD. Both of them were Labor treasurers. We came out of the GFC the top rated economy in the OECD due to Labor leadership.

So how did our debt crisis go under the great economic managers recently?

History shows and is acknowledged by both sides that the modernisation of Australia was due to HawkE and Keating.

Under Rudd we avoided the worst of the GFC, another inconvenient fact soon forgotten.

Howard was the highest taxing PM.

Carry on...

Did you know that cutting penalty rates has not created more jobs.

Funny that realists are accused of following a bizarre religion when they themselves are drunk on right wing propaganda.

Trickle down economics and austerity do not work.

The saddest part in this discussion is the convenient ignoring of certain facts because they don't suit the narrative.

At least a few of us are objective enough to acknowledge the good and bad on both sides.

Talking to mate today who voted liberal. Doesn't own a property yet argues what a great thing neg gearing is and shouldn't be changed. FMD.

People vote on perception and blinded loyalty, quite often against the better interests of themselves and their kids.

Society has been dumbed down and people just bend over and take it.

No doubt you remember when you could actually protest without being demonised.

Very sad.

So, I haven't actually been able to watch anything live on Foxtel today at all.

Samsung TV nope.
Sony TV nope.
Windows PC nope.
Phone nope.

I can only assume old Rupert pulled all the data streams to circle jerk the Lib victory in 4K to global friends, family and monsieur Bolt.

And as I am writing this; chrome magically loads an and advert on GWS v Carlton, after 5 friggen hours.

Also, support services on this service is akin to a self made lemonade stand from scrap wood, only without the lemonaid, bottles, water and just lemons. Friggen atrocious

I’ve been having the same issue. Must be a foxtel outage.

I can only assume, just minimised the full screen and got the "unknown error" pop up, but no disruption to service.

Saw a couple of things of peeps asking support for the Now service, but after 2 hours of no responses decided to stop looking and just do something else like AC Odyssey. :thumbsu:

I've had fox on all day in the background with no worries up here in North East Vic.

And just got error that my device was de-registered during the last bounce segment.

It's random yeah, but this service is utter garbage.
