Has anybody had any problems with the bump below your knee where the tendon joins the tibia.

My right one is swollen and I feel like I’ve been belted with a baseball bat, the bloody thing is murder to walk on.

Possibly patella tendonitis which is an inflammation of the tendon at the front of the patella connecting to the shin considering your "bump" is "swollen", but obviously not a doctor so...

If so, got some advice for it considering the various quacks I saw in diagnosing the RA and work arounds / changes. As with most things it's resting as far as strenuous activity goes, ie weight training because this stresses the muscle and worsens the inflammation where it can "snap", and then it's mostly stretching exercises to allow the tendon to "rest" and regain flexibility and thus the swelling will then generally subside over time and diligence as you are also slowly building strength of the overall knee and thus the tendon.

If it ends up too much and you kinda need the leg to function then and there, general anti-inflams contain painkillers and are your friend in moderation. From experience though, steer clear of the ones that taste like arse unless you enjoy that sort of thing.

I'm always really cranky in the mornings...
"BPF, you should really do something about your bad moods," said my boss, as I
entered the office with another sour face.
"I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can do about it, boss."
"You know how I prevent this?" said my boss, "I make sure to have sex with my wife every time before I go to work. It's a great way to start off the day. Perhaps you should try this yourself."

The next day I entered the office feeling very upbeat.

"Good day BPF, I see you're doing much better. Did you take my advice?" said my boss.

"I'm glad I did, boss! It really helped" . "By the way, your wife is gorgeous and you live in such a beautiful house!"

Has anyone had a hip or knee replacement, how did it go?.

If they do a good job fine. My mother's didn't align right and she never really got her full mobility back

My dad did his knees separately, he put off the second one a long time because he had trouble with the first one. Both good now.

Thanks I’m going to try some gel injections in the knees first, it seems to be really hit and miss unfortunately.

I’ve known people who were fine and back to normal activities fairly quickly, others are in more pain than before the operation.

Gonna start a political discussion against my better judgement. Has anyone seen the statistics surrounding wages in Australia in the last 2 and a half terms of government?

Australia is one of only a few countries in the world to have a lower wealth per adult now than in 2012. In the middle of a global economic boom due to massively increased trade, jobs, new sectors, transport, tourism and generally reduced tariffs and taxes on importing/exporting, Australia is one of only a few countries to not reap benefits for it's own citizens. According to Credit Suisse, a Swiss financial company with a prestigious research division, Australia is LAST in the world in the change in wealth per adult from 2012-2019.
1572023453966.png
China and India saw a 74% rise each over the same period of time. Hong Kong 65%. The average American is 49% richer despite a huge part of their political conversation surrounding wealth. Our close neighbours New Zealand saw a 20% increase. Sweden, Germany, the UK and Finland all saw 12% increases. Australia is the standout, desolate failure in the world losing 7.8% over the same time period. That's right, the UK in the middle of a financial downfall over the last 2 years due to Brexit still have a nearly 20% differential on us. A country who has recorded all time high exports in 14 of the last 19 years, has seen 28 years of continuous economic growth and is coming to the end of arguably the single greatest mining boom in human history.

And why is all this? You might ask. Every attempt to implement a mining tax similar to Norway's among many other countries has been repeatedly stifled by lobbying companies through the Liberal Government. Tax avoidance and evasion are at an all time high while the Liberal Government continuously makes further and further cuts to the ATOs tax enforcement branch. Companies like ExxonMobil make $25 million dollars in revenue in Australia and pay 0% income tax thanks to the Liberal Government. The Liberal Government keeps giving $30 million handouts to "friends" such as Rupert Murdoch supposedly in a bid to increase viewership of free to air television; no you didn't read that wrong.

The Liberal Government constantly prevents changes to negative gearing leading to $13 billion dollars of annual income tax written off then blame "doll bludgers" which cost the budget about $5 billion a year, and then have the gall to claim that newstart is a burden on the economy. They sign $20 billion dollar defence contracts for outdated technology right before an election in an attempt to destroy the new governments credibility and when they have to deal with it themselves, you guessed it they blame Labor anyway. They not only greenlight but provide annual $10 billion dollar subsidies to Adani to build a mine that will see no profits returned to Australia and that will lead to the complete bleaching of the GBR. They sign trade agreements that allow insidious slugs like Clive Palmer to sue the government for $42 billion dollars. Their state level associates such as the weasel faced Gladys Berejiklian strip land clearing laws leading to deforestation of 50% of an entire states natural forests. They've generated a mass extinction with repeated gross negligence towards the environment. They've allowed cotton farmers to syphon water from the Murray Darling basin only to buy it back for 10 times its value because the cotton industry subsidises the Liberal Government. They've made consistent increases in ALL tax brackets except the catch all bracket that is equivalent to the heavyweight division in boxing despite election promises to cut Labor's high tax rates.

The Liberal Government consistently act against the interests of the Australian people. And yet no one votes them out. Why?

Free trade with china basically means we are allowing them to work for us , at their wages. People wanting to do the same work here either do something else or take a pay cut.
Its only the artificial barrier of distance and transport cost that stops it being a total disaster.

Or is it more a slow bleed out? Coupled with a concentration of wealth, it's going to get worse for low and middle class people. The US has already copped it, we are behind.

In other news Australia's worst serial killer,
Ivan Milat died this morning in the Prison hospital.

Good riddance you piece of shit!

Now bend over for Satan!

I watched a You Tube documentary on him a couple of years ago; a seriously deranged guy who got a thrill from sadistic murder. For a country with a small population, Australia has had its fair share of serial killers.

Sad and true

Sad and true

The case of the Beaumont children is amongst the most chilling of all. Three siblings just vanishing from a busy beach, and the case still unsolved over half a century later. Perhaps one day the truth will emerge, but it's too late for their poor mother, who died just last month.

Mrs paid for Stan tv.
I watched a 5 part series, Murder on the Bayou.
The Jennings 8 girls had no hope really.

Good that you're nice and woke there crusty but most aren't.
The population still votes out of legacy, self interest, disinterest or stupidity.
So long as the majority of personal wealth it tied up with the boomers it's going to lean to the conservative since franking credits are apparently more important than the future of the country.
Sadly people just don't even want to know. It's just human instinct to avoid responsibilities in general. Much easier to remain ignorant whilst claiming innocence.

Unfortunately the mistakes of past generations are going to catch up with us pretty soon on the whole climate change front...

I'm not sure it's just boomers. You see those giant Ram utes selling at the moment. They are like the Canyonero on the Simpsons. Full burning machines for little men.

Google wealth distribution by age. It's pretty scary. .

It's definitely held by the older generations and all ways is. Most people set up when they are young and by the time they are old are pretty comfortable. There is a lot fewer with a lot more these days generally. Wealth is condensing. Money makes money as well and if it's not taxed it condenses up. Boomers refusing to leave jobs is an issue with less people able to get into good jobs because people work into their 70s instead of leaving a spot for younger folks.
