And?

I sit in the centre as stated.

This is a left wing forum.

Fact and fact.

What a waste of copying and pasting.

You actually don't given that at any single point in time you can range from left of centre to right, to up and down if you're considering the spectrum, when in reality everyone hovers around a circle depending on selfish behaviours to themselves and what they deem as important to them. Politically most people are fish.

You believe you are centrist because ultimately that is where you feel comfortable in identification, where again from a particular point of view you are simply indecisive in what you believe and thus undefined as you lack conviction in any "strength" of opinion on the matter.

This also isn't a slight to you despite how this might sound, if anything it is impressive how many people have rallied against your opinion, I imagine in an actual rally there would be propulsion of vegetation in your general direction.

Feelings are a leftist conspiracy

Thank god for genetics making me right handed, the sooner huimanity evolves to one armed bandits the sooner we can eradicate this leftist usurpation of moral decency. No doubt left hand dominant people are driving factors and co conspirators to such travesties.

ALL are for sale
None of them worth a pinch of sh1t

The political system doesn't encourage good people. It scares off anyone with good ideas or morals.

This is true; I'm left handed and brainwashing the next generation ;)

"Yet China's overseas ventures include hundreds of electric power plants that burn coal, which is a significant emitter of the carbon scientifically linked to climate change. Edward Cunningham, a specialist on China and its energy markets at Harvard University, tells NPR that China is building or planning more than 300 coal plants in places as widely spread as Turkey, Vietnam, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Egypt and the Philippines."

Okkkk.... (for arguments sake purely) if man made global warming is 100% real and its more responsible for deadlier bushfires this year in Australia then please explain how we can change this when China is doing what it's doing as verified above?

Give me a practical solutions. Realstic answers. Not greenie pipedream nonsense. I'm all ears.

For arguments sake, if Australia went 100% renewable or went 100% nuclear and made every car and truck electric tomorrow, then please explain how this can "practically" achieve anything against China's current and rising co2 levels and its building of 300 new coal power plants.

I'm all ears and I haven't even added India into the debate.

We can't. But if we continue to do nothing, how are we supposed to pressure other countries to change their ways? Why would China stop polluting the way they do when Australia won't?

It won't achieve anything, but we have to do it with other countries to achieve what is needed. You're not bringing anything new to the debate.

You're not all ears and you've mentioned India enough times to make it clear you think that Australia shouldn't do anything because China and India are worse.

Thank you for admitting nothing can be done about China's march to new energy creation and whatever we do in regards to our co2 will never effect Aussie bushfires. Realism at play.

As I said, China or India do not care what we do in regards to co2 emissions. They will have their industrial revolutions whether we like it or not. You only have to look at China's advancement into the Sth China, the imprisonment of their Muslim populations and blatant and overt spying and stealing of technology off other countries plus other issues to understand that...they simply do not care.

Reality. Realism. Facts. Take your pick. You would be lucky to find a handful of people in these combined 3+ billion populated countries that care what we did with our coal plants or whatever but yeah....go right ahead and lets destroy Australia, its energy sector, economy, jobs, families, etc. for nothing. Plus it will never stop a single bushfire or make them easier to deal with. But we got ScoMo sacked too!! Wow, what a win!!

The only way that happens is nuclear power stations

Yep, the cleanest, greenest, most productive and most reliable form of energy right now in the world....until they work out commercial nuclear fusion.

75% of France is nuclear. Smart people.

I truly hope I'm wrong.

The consequences for me being wrong aren't nearly as severe as the consequences of you being wrong.
And so far all the science and all the evidence is pointing towards you being wrong.

I genuinely hope it's me that looks like an idiot.

The Polynesians don’t think the French are smart .

I tend to think that a high incidence of uncaring and corrupt politicians tends to reflect some sort of fracture in our society.

I believe politicians are more servile to predatory big business because they actually believe that they belong to a different community. A community of high flying, back patting, ultra rich, power broking, overlords who command the ordinary lives of the masses.

Their transition into that community doesn’t occur overnight either. The lobbyists begin manipulating their egos from the moment they are drafted into the political arena.

In my mind the disconnect is when politicians don’t live in the electorates they are meant to represent. They don’t feel the weight of accountability, and can simply grease the wheels that get them a safe seat so they can play partisan politics.

What has past nuclear bomb testing got to with nuclear power generation which are completely separate things?

The French were very stupid to test nuclear bombs in the Pacific but are very smart to produce 75% of their energy from nuclear power plus export 3 billion Euros worth of it every year.

If you want a read.

How do you believe nuclear power generation became what it is today if not for weapon manufacturing?

So what?

Its history.

You dont need weapons these days to produce clean and green reliable nuclear power.

Yes she does to me.
Do you think otherwise?
On the question of Mike Pompeos beliefs LeTourneau appears to be accurately reporting the facts whilst managing to put her on spin on them.

Having read back over months of articles it’s also safe to say that the Washington monthly is a solidly left leaning pro Democrat Organization. LeTourneau is so anti trump and more broadly anti republican that I’d view anything she writes with that in mind.

Generally if something interests me I like to look for reputable sources, read both sides of the story and check the facts. Given the state of politics and the media today it’s pretty difficult to trust the word of any one source imo. I know everything I need to know because Brian told me so is long dead.

The lefties are a persecuted group in history. Sinistre is the latin root word for left which gives us sinister. Gauche is kind of stupid and unsophisticated in English - French for left, while adroit in English is adept and skilful....French for right.

My wife friends husband is a Labor state politician. He said career politicians are so removed from reality that they don't have a clue. He is doing 2 terms then going back to private enterprise. He said people try to give you free trips, tickets to events from the birdcage at the races to any stage show. Meals, tips anything are on offer if you are greedy or open to being seduced. And that's just the soft stuff, he hasn't said it but so many are getting bribes from developers and businesses that stand to profit.

It's all factional so they tend to internally fight for direction and nothing ever gets done. He said Andrews is good because he's tough enough to get through the party in fighting and get shit done.

It's rare to get an Andrew Wilkie who is moral and uncompromised by party politics. The right of the Libs won the battle and expelled the whole moderate wing of the Fedral party. Bishop, Turnbull, Pine etc were the old school conservatives. The right faction is mining affiliates, religious nutters and economic extremists.

An anti-Trump stance is a pro humanity stance. He is a demagogue. His actions are not just anti-Democrat, they are anti-American. That he repeatedly contradicts the US constitution is evidence of that. He is also ant-democracy. Breaking nepotism laws, placing criminals into Government positions, even before he entered office he broke campaign finance laws.

I could list all the offences that Trump has committed, each of which would have seen a Democrat out of office already.

Trump is bad for the world because other countries are copying his actions to entrench their own right wing Government in place.

I agree with you that LeTourneau chooses Left leaning topics to write about. This may reflect her own political stance, or that of the publisher or it may be that this publisher sees a niche focus to report on as the right wing press is exhaustively widespread and overwhelming in its saturation of the US, Australia and GB.

True, however your first sentence;

What has past nuclear bomb testing got to with nuclear power generation which are completely separate things?

Whilst it may not be a necessity to produce a nuclear explosive device today, you seemed to disregard half a century of history with nuclear power and absolving nations of basically screwing over life (FYI, France undertook 210 nuclear tests from 1940 to mid 1990, practice was banned in 1996, their last detonation was in 1995).

They've also had a nuclear plant since the 1960's, do you consider some 180 odd nuclear tests as independent to France's nuclear power generation?

Another blow to the deniers with one eye open.

The oceans are gone we are about to have the biggest mining boom in history with the seabed.
