What it will go for more than 30 seconds? That's a seriously brutal sport. My head hurts watching GIFs of it.

The sport has progressed a lot since it first started in the mid 90s. I’ve been watching it for nearly 20 years & in that time it’s transitioned from amateur to highly professional. Still not accepted by a lot of people but I can tell you the athletes who participate are as professional as any sport in the world. Highly trained & skilled & are doing everything they can to continue to legitimise the sport & make it even more mainstream. Not for everyone though. I can certainly appreciate the sport.

Have many bushfires have you fought?
How much real knowledge do you have on the actual ground where bushfires occur?
Have you ever lived in and/or visited Sth East Australia where these bushfires are?

Personally, without doubting that some of the members are experts at putting out fires, i don't believe that a "Union" is particularly qualified to comment on these sorts of issues.

Unions in the 70s were responsible for Newport Power station ( the one most people don't realise is there ) being built to only half its capacity, ensuring that we are now more reliant on coal.
Unions represent the mindset of their constituents, not the facts.

It’s like asking a nurse with 52 years experience to diagnose an illness. Has experience in that area but no actual knowledge of the science required.
Having 52 years experience fighting fires is a good thing for fighting fires, but it means **** all when it comes to interpreting the data that proves man is causing global warming at an alarming rate.

They aren't even a union, they are literally an unincorporated entity with no real membership numbers and a dodgy directorship. They are a front for a couple of climate deniers and the shooters party. They get quoted despite having no real affiliation with the firefighters union or anyone else. I could start a website tomorrow and call myself the country fire fighters association and do the same thing these guys are. Journalists keep forgetting to check the sources in the internet age and make themselves look like morons.

My sister is a CFA captain and works for the DSE or what ever they call them now. I don't think he's right or has an agenda. Most crews are still working on fighting fires, they don't sit around wondering about stuff. She's still up near Dargo fighting a fire that's been going for ages. Hopefully the rain puts it all out and she can go back to work. Then she can sit around and ponder who's to blame.

I think you'll find he has directions he expects to be followed. I spoke to a lady who my wife went to school with who worked as a HS journalist. She said editorial direction is followed and even articles written can be changed to place the exact opposite emphasis on the point of view from the author. He meets with potential prime ministers to let them sell their arses and calls himself the King maker. He's a proper arseh*le.
