Corrupt politicians have eroded confidence through normalising corruption. Not just Liberals but they are now just taking the piss....or don't even notice the erosion of morality.

Corruption is on the up. Public are too lazy. So they think it'll all blow over.

Deputy PM sacked but the PM should be going with her.

I can't wait for the day people start to put real pressure on MPs beyond the we will vote you out in the next election maybe.

She's not the deputy PM, she's the deputy Nats leader. Well, she was.

Been happening for long time.

then this pearler

I arrived home the other night and my garage wouldn't open.
After messing round for an hour or so , including going to the shop to buy a battery for the remote switch, i found out the earth leakage switch for the house was tripping out because of my refrigerator.

The number of people who said "Its more than 10 years old, just buy a new one " was overwhelming.
But i'm a big believer in repairing stuff. Some of the new fridges are "a bit" more efficient , but not really enough to justify it on its own.

I googled, refrigerators and earth leakage, and it said the biggest cause is the "anti-frost" heating element.
I found a you-tube about it , and it was pretty easy to access.
I pulled the plug off the element, and sure enough , the fridge ran happily with no circuit breakers tripping. Soon as i plug it in BLAM.

$50 for the part on ebay. Just worried that it will be a bit of a drama getting the new element in.
Hope it all goes well, i'm a big believer of repairing things rather than throwing them away. Lots of energy and resources go into the "throw away" society.

Some items, like a car, you will really notice the difference between old technology and new.
Like a car in the 80's was a lot more reliable than a car from the 70's with a carby and points.
A car in the 90s-2000's was a lot safer than a car from the 80's and polluted much less.
A car from now is a lot more efficient. ( though probably weighs twice as much as a car from the 70s unless you have a pick up , 3 times as much ).

The majority of the Fridges on the market now , use pretty much the same construction and layout as my current one, and they really haven't improved much since they changed from Kerosene to Electric. I think the "internet fridge " is pretty much a dead duck that no-one wanted.

A lot of appliances use the same old technology year after year , spruced up with a new look, unless a game changer ( Dyson Vacuum cleaners ) comes along.
Then the old companies try to convince everyone their tech is just as good. ( cyclonic action lol ).

It kind of bugs me that we had both sides of politics falling over each other to out anyone who may have inadvertently had duel citizenship with a country who probably don't hold any animosity to Australia, and have common ideology, ( and head of state ), but Chinese spies are OK.

The crux boils down to private enterprise benefiting from public coin and where one sits on the concept economically. The basin itself is massive given it covers a fair portion of 3 states whilst VICs would largely consider it a singular river system but the point in the article is that it's an approval for expansion, meaning they were already impacting previously and it's a bit of a beat up to now be complaining about it.

Provided that the basin is irrigated properly and there are balances, quotas, checks and all the factors to maintain a healthy basin, there is largely no issue however if there is a break somewhere, if you do not have such oversights then you will invariably screw the pooch, hard and impact millions of people.

Personally, under the current scheme and oversight principles, this decision should not have been made, money should not have changed hands. It is a joke of a scheme headed by incompetents or not at all.
There isn't though. None of those checks and balances have ever or will ever exist. The "drought" in nsw is mosrly due to the excessive syphoning from the mdb. 90% of the water in it had already been syphoned and the libs just approved another 90 million odd litres if I remember correctly. And at the end of the day, the government shouldn't be propping up a thriving industry. Why do cotton farmers need government handouts or tax cuts? They already make a killing and their lobbying group already ensures the libs don't pull them up on illegal syphoning. So I'd say we have every reason to be justified in whinging about this mate.

Perhaps should have emphasised the word "now", given there's already minsters in government with water rights siphoning coin offshore because they can, yet people largely don't care because lowest common denominator mandates it's unimportant, lets run an expose on manufacturing instead to deflect. Seems conveniently timed.

They shouldn't, as indicated in my last sentence, not sure where you got the idea that I need to defend the decision when it's plain that I disagree with it?
