Had a laugh on the ABC news site this arvo. A journo, probably young, suggested that Moorabbin was the Saints' spiritual home. Guess the 81 years at Junction Oval doesn't count. I remember following Prahran when I was a kid and going to see them play Moorabbin before the Saints came on the scene. The ground was a mud bath back then.

just finished a feed at foodland , went up to the 2nd floor to by a tap from homepro and as I went back down to the ground floor found everyone had cleared out - then hid behind a pillar in the middle of ground floor as the shots where going off - after about 20mins some guy let me into his hairdressers - where we stayed for around 6 hrs laying on the floor behind a counter until we escaped out of the place.The killer was killed in the foodland - just feel for the young girls who worked there - the manager was one of the victims / what blew me away is he was using a M60 machine gun - the noise of it was deafening.

Apparently when its raining and you are in front at the traffic lights and they turn green.
You need to stay stationary until they about to turn red again, then creep through, ensuring hardly anyone behind you gets through.

Literally had a 4WD straight run reds at Flemington rd this arvo, gave no shits about the 6 cars coming in from across tram lines because they had to go to the next set at the underpass to Mt Alexander rd. Went from green Elliott av turn into red and they just kept going.

But yeah, it's fun times riding breaks when you find that one car doing like 30 below blowing smoke up their arse or something as soon as there is one iota of water anywhere near the road, or an accident to gawk at, or breakfast to have, or the phone is too important, or...

Pretty much killing Holden and other car makers in Australia, shit NBN and trashing climate/energy policy were Abbotts only achievements in government.

The Button plan was designed to slowly reduce tariffs, so that local car makers became globally competitive.
It worked for a while but got to the point that we were simply competing with 3rd world labor.
People then lost track of why we had the tariff reduction in the first place, thinking that it was simply so we would end up with cheaper cars.

That wasn't realised unless you start comparing Apples with Pears.
Between 1987 and 2000, tarrifs decreased from 58% to 15%.

The cars being designed around that time were globally competitive , it was more a question of "Corporate Policy " whether they were or not.
Cars have improved with time, but there hasn't been much inflation over the last decade or so.

We are still paying pretty much the same for a mid size sedan as what a Commodore or Falcon probably would have cost.

But the recent news is that Holden as a car SELLER is dead.
They were unable to compete as an importer against other brands.
Nothing to do with Abbott there.

I did catch a snippet that their operational costs were way way higher than all the other car importers, possibly due to high transfer pricing of crap such as computer support. Add high operational costs to low sales and goooone.

Their official reason for pulling out is that they will no longer produce cars for RH drive markets.
When they claim that it cost 100 million to engineer the Colarado for RH drive, they are either incredibly inept at producing cars or they are bullshitting.
