It’s stopped now. My mate sells stuff for elective surgery. Has nothing to do now

I'm not sure if mine would be elective or not. I'm not sure pain matters so much, more things like cancer treatment and heart surgery being non-elective is my guess. Anyway, I'll just pay and suck it up. As my wife said, if it was that much to save the dog at the vets I'd pay up but my own health I whinge about paying for.

I hear what you’re saying but over the years it has saved us thousands and thousands Daughter with her scoliosis we got to choose the surgeon and seen the bill over 60k. The wife eyes are fk they take her eye out cut the nerves off sew back on and adjust eyes to stop the double vision and that needs doing again , once again we got to pick who done it where and when

As much as I hate paying it I really can’t get rid of it

Sorry not the nerves the muscles attached to the eye

Yeah, I think that's when it is good. If too many pull out the premiums rise too. My eyes are hurting just thinking about that operation.

LOL
They actually wake her mid operation give her an eye test and pull the stitches until eye is in right spot

If it's a rap song we have to try and fit the words "n1gga", "bitch" and the "F bomb" into the lyrics otherwise there is no street cred

That rotten bitch Pell , is going to hell.
He probably ****ed the choirgirls as well.
If he ends up in prison he'll get his own hell.
Some big m**** f**** n1gga will get him in Jai...ell.

Excellent effort but don't give up your day job

Paid for the basic family cover and if it's classed as tendon or bone damage it's covered, but nerve damage isn't. I need a plastic surgeon because it's damaged the nerves and it's specialist work so it's 100% out of pocket. I don't honestly know why we pay it. We get dental but only check up and clean. When you need fillings and any work you still pay the bulk of it, none of my son's braces were covered. I don't actually know what you get out of it.

In recent times I’ve had significant nerve related surgery, cataracts, varicose veins, and hernia. The nerve stuff at one point involved a long needle and injection into the neck, which was almost unexplainably bad. But nothings been as bad as my recent dental clean. That shit is f@cked up.

Couldn’t agree more. Most painful thing you could imagine.

I really enjoyed it. I liked season 1 because I liked the small town feel of where the family moved, and the creepy characters that pop up. I've heard some people say they didn't enjoy season 2 all that much, but season 3 makes up for it. Great show.
Season 1 episode 9 enjoying it

I watched Ozark it’s a good show with a very good cast.

Another well worth watching is a British crime series the fall, it’s well written and again it has a very good cast. I wouldn’t normally watch either and if you’re not into high levels of violence then I’d give both a miss.

The detectorists is a very amusing comedy series if you want a laugh and to give your mind a rest from the doom and gloom.

I started the Detectorists last night. I had watched a couple of episodes ages ago and din't get into it. I ended up watching about 5 episodes. It's kind of relaxing, it's really low key and quiet. I quite enjoyed it this time.

If you’re interested in the A league and Australian soccer at all levels really then this is well worth watching if you have a spare couple of hours.

Just some formers greats of the Australian game some still involved at various levels offering up their thoughts on the current state of the game and where they think we should be making changes.

That's outrageous; what if you don't have the money to pay? Tough, just deal with it? The ability to be cured shouldn't be related to how much money you have. Healthcare isn't like buying washing powder.

My family have a history of breast cancer.

I had a lump in my chest and (even being a guy) I freaked out and saw a specialist. He believed it was just a lipoma but because it was growing on a rib near my lung he wanted to remove it and gave me 2 options:

Go through the public system. It would be a 6-8 week wait but would cost me nothing.

OR

Take the rest of the week off work, lay down on the table and he would remove it on the spot for $8,500.

I didn't have private cover or $8,500 so I spent the next 2 months hoping this thing didnt grow into my lungs so that the public system could cover me. My life wasn't in immediate danger so I had to get in line.

I still don't have private cover but I totally understand why people who can reasonably afford it do. The ability to 'jump the queue' would be such a huge relief on things like that.

I understand your sentiments here, but the issue you have is underfunding of the public sector. Nobody's health should be a matter of how much they can afford to spend. It is a human right, not a consumer choice. Prince or pauper, everyone should have the best possible care in such situations.

They do but everything is subject to a proper assessment, if it’s not urgent then you go on waiting list.

Obviously people pay for private insurance to be operated on in private hospitals to avoid any waiting time. If you were diagnosed with something terrible then public, private makes no difference. Medicare which is our universal public option is funded through the tax system. It’s a 2% levy on your taxable income with an exemption for low income earners who depending on the circumstances may pay nothing. You can walk into any GP in the country and be seen often for free although some charge a relatively small co payment. We also have a pharmaceutical benefits scheme that subsidises prescription drugs.

Anyway our system has been pretty good and if governments continue to provide appropriate funding it will continue to be a very effective system imo.
