I'm dying, mate, and haven't had a wink of sleep tonight. I would never survive 40 degrees; surely it's better being dead! 20 is perfect for us; 25 is okay in the day, but not at night! The dog and me are trying to cool off in the garden! Wife is asleep, but I can't handle it. Bring back the rain!

When its warm in the UK its pretty humid, i was there when it was around 20° and i found myself in a T-shirt sweating a bit.
I had a jacket on while i was travelling on the tube , because...pockets, was bloody hot.

the idea behind agile software development is that are you release the minimum viable product as soon as possible then refine from there. given the position the government was in with an upward trend of infection, it made sense to roll it out ASAP and then refine the issues as they were found.

since then our trend has gone in the right direction and the app is more of a measure that should only be needed when outbreaks occur, which is what is happening in melbourne now. almost all who have had the infection here have been those who are in quarantine from arriving overseas. so it's no surprise that the 6 million user's who have installed it haven't been exposed.

the test would be the low levels of community transmission you have now only recently seen in victoria.

since then Apple and Google have implemented their own Covid tracking API. which Bill Shorten has absolutely nailed what our position should be moving forward:

but let's remember this option was not available when the app was first released and we were rightfully looking for speed of rollout over functionality.

At what time does it go dark in Melbourne during your winter? I can't imagine you are like the UK, when it's dark by 4 p.m. midwinter. I would imagine sunset also varies greatly in different parts of such a huge country...

Well at the moment the sun is setting around 5.12pm according to my iPhone’s Weather app. At the height of summer it sets around 8.45pm from memory (with daylight saving).

There's the Tropic of Capricorn running through Aus, so say you're in Melbourne or "south" you're looking at a low dew point, cooler oceanic squalls since Antarctic winds and winters are generally 1-15ish with some frost instances mostly. It's slight irritating as opposed to "grab the shovel" or "lets make pretty pictures".

You're north, say Darwin or Mackay for example, then yeah you're getting your 10-20 variance with high dew points and more equatorial in nature where everything will just feel heavy, suffocating in nature.

It's not going to be like yours though, since you aren't impacted by equatorial instances at all. Landmass wise you're also relatively tiny where we are what, the 6th largest country of the world? So there's going to be massive variance in answers based on where people are located.

It's proper dark at 6 to 6.30 in mid winter. 5.30 to 6 is already getting close with the sun dropped but some residual light. yeah, we don't even have the same time zones it's so big. Darwin has days over 30 at this time of year and down south we can get snow on really cold days or in the mountains at least. It's around 13 to 15 degrees most days at the moment but feels colder in Melbourne. Sydney is a nice climate for winter. It's not got the really had edge of Melbourne but you can still wear a bit of winter finery for style. Southern Queensland is like a UK summer right now.

I've been going up to Gippsland a bit lately. I'm coming back into Melbourne around 5.30 to 6.30. 6 most days still has a touch of residual light but by 6.30 you have proper darkness and the Dandenong drive in is playing already.

Spent a bit of time in the Gold Coast during winter a couple years ago. Perfection.

What a coincidence I just finished the Netflix doco an hour ago. Some really great storytelling and thought-provoking ethics in there.
