The Napthine government paid elite private school Scotch College $5.4 million for a thin strip of land, taken for a road widening project, that was previously valued at just over $1 million by the state’s Valuer-General.

I'm getting really ****ed off with it but the public health officials aren't doing this for their own gain. Most of them would be losing popularity by the day. I understand your frustration and point of view Pluggs but have to respectfully disagree. Our numbers spiked and the lockdown commenced because of self entitlement and arrogance and the reason why we don’t have Europe type figures is because of the control factors emplaced.
I agree we’ve had some questionable decisions over the course that have lengthened the lockdown (the initial lockdown zones based on post codes for example - as if a virus cares about where you live? Should have always been geographically based... I digress) but the majority of Victorians have done a phenomenal job in quashing this thing and stopping a pandemic.
I know people have suffered financially and worse, but the death toll overseas is far far worse and I wouldn’t be surprised if our economy rebounds far quicker than those staying open and trying to keep business moving.
Anyway, it’s just my opinion and the government will do as it pleases. Regardless of political slant I think the response has been world class

That is relevant. By the way no one including me has suggested we shouldn’t have had lockdown. Even going to my golf club people both behind the bar and those ordering drinks were saying why should we put up with restrictions when those protesters can do what they want.

I really doubt we have more entitled people. What I don’t doubt is quarantine was stuffed up. I think even labor and Dan lovers can see that. I also clearly remember dan being no where near as strong on the blm protest initially compared to every other state. Both were at similar times. To me that caused the perfect storm and not entitled victorians. As you say we agree to disagree. All I know is comparing our numbers to other countries is totally irrelevant

The countries who have favoured a more economically open model have had mass second outbreaks. I don't see how anyone would want that. The UK has been getting bigger case numbers in the current outbreak than the first one. They are going have to lock down again and it's going to hurt a lot more than ours which was done earlier and ripped the band aid off quickly. Businesses are going to be properly ****ed if it it keeps on devastating communities.

Colder weather? Europe and the US are getting much bigger numbers with the weather dropping. Quarantine definitely was the start of it but the governments mistake was trusting private enterprise, which is the model conservative governments everywhere push for.
