Oh please we’ll be here until the next election at this rate.

If you can’t look at both sides or question the actions and decisions of everyone then something is very wrong imo. What is it you fear that makes a balanced open debate so undesirable. Constantly projecting and shutting down others doesn’t seem healthy in a true democracy or for that matter on a forum.

We even have posters on here talking about a coup and the military, I’m out you can hop back on to social media and find some like minded people who’ll validate everything you say without questioning anything.

Because for 4 years instead of a balanced open debate we've had Trump throwing out wild clearly false conspiracies and for some stupid reason there's been an idea constantly presented by Murdoch media that these hold similar credence to the ideas criticising Trump. In a fair even debate Trump and his proto-fascist policies of discrediting media, smearing his opponents and dealing exclusively in furore that whips crowds into frenzies wouldn't be invited.

Lets just say , that if it came to the crunch, the military would be siding with the system.

You'd hope so but who knows, He's stacked the pentagon with allies and the courts. You hope the dam wall holds but you have seen the result in other countries where it hasn't. There is a certain amount of the political system that runs on convention and good grace. Counties in the west rarely have anything like this hit them so don't legislate for it meaning it's done on gentlemanly conduct rather than law sometimes. Not knowing their system, a lot of cracks in the system are going to be tested.

This is very biased the other way. They are talking about people who are subverting the political system to remain in power despite losing an election. In some countries they'd be executed. In comparison being cancelled seems preferable. They are committing a form of treason, defying the laws of the nation to suit their own political gains. I think it's still the death penalty for treason there.

Probably fair that that stereotypical cancelling is from the far left. The right do it too but in a different way. The labelling of communist anyone that wants to critique any of the right agendas is the same idea for example and belittling rhetoric. You see it on both sides but it's just a symptom of the divide that has become a chasm there due to social media.

I would agree, if that were true. Convention =/= law. The courts will do their thing soon enough.

Yes but it happens considerably more from Trump than from anyone else. He doesn't deal in facts and science, he has essentially discredited his own head of infectious diseases because he didn't like what he said. It's disingenuous to pretend that it happens to the same degree "on both sides".

Yeah, at the moment they are doing it legally but there is a suggestion that the individual States could overrule the election and put Trump back in if they rule it as fraud. It would be unprecedented but possible.

As someone else said, how can you be surprised he was investigated for foreign collusion when he literally asked Russia on international television to interfere in the election and had suspicious meetings with Russian officials both in Russia and in Trump tower? Let's remember that he was never cleared of Russian collusion, they simply said there wasn't enough evidence to find him guilty. It's still not a good look and it is infinitely more suspicious than "big pharma suppressing hydroxychloroquine" or 98% of the rest of Trump's deranged theories.
