Probably the same as the move to the right went down with the other 50%. Honestly the right are more likely to take up arms and Trump is trying to stir up trouble with denying the election result. I think they fall into irreparable civil war even if not in an armed conflict way. Trump had a divided country and was voted out. I can't see how they recover to be honest.

You're assuming that the other 50% were Democrats ...but I believe a huge percentage of them just couldn't care less as long as Trump wasn't the president any more.
So how many of the 78 million were swinging voters or just anti Trumpers?
And if Biden does a bad job ......

I don't think Trump will attend Biden's inauguration. At any other time, it would seem too crazy any idea to even be considered, but this is Trump. I don't think he will ever admit he lost the election fairly and will stick to his conspiracy theory. Remember, this is someone whose entry into the 2016 Republican primaries came on the back of the Birther conspiracy: the accusation that Obama isn't an American but a Kenyan Muslim. That nonsense should have immediately disqualified him from running, but millions of Americans actually embraced the madness. He's changed in a very worrying way. That cartoon pretty much sums up what's happened in his head. It's like a porridge of ****ed up ideas. I never thought I'd see the day that neo hippy, anti vax, corporate cooking, media whore, Trump supporting, neo nazi, surf stoner, pseudo spiritual, Qanon spreading nutters would lose their careers over a cartoon. I don't think anyone here does, Trump is just very good at excusing everything by pointing out the dirty hands of others to excuse it. Obama technically built the holding facility so with a bit of cognitive dissonance it's easy to extrapolate that Trump is exactly the same level of cruel.

The same as where people who are fans of Trump can look past every failing of his and see a few very low level potentially corrupt things that Biden has done over his political career are terrible acts when Trump would have done all the exact same things in proliferation and still does. They's be appalled at the democrats bringing proceedings against him like it was a witch hunt

. They truely believe Biden saying casually racist things is exactly the same as overt courting of neo nazis and praising of violent right wing militias. The problem at the moment, in the light of the development of social media and online "news" platforms, is the capacity (and willingness) to critically assess the news you consume not only in the light of the source of the provider but also your own preferences.

Its the blind acceptance of the "news" simply because it confirms your current view that is really the problem. People need to learn to routinely run the ruler over their information, irrespective of source, to make sure they are getting actual "news" not just accepting information that reinforces their existing views.

Finland runs a multi platform program in schools where the aims are to integrate thinking critically, factchecking, interpreting and evaluating all the information you receive, wherever it appears.

Who produced the information, and why? Where was it published? What does it really say? Who is it aimed at? What is it based on? Is there evidence for it, or is this just someone’s opinion? Is it verifiable elsewhere?

Biden got elected on a platform of "not Trump" and "wear a mask", holy hell the banailty of the US political system is a sight to behold.

Millions live in poverty, over a 100 thousand people go bankrupt each year because they can't afford medical bills, they are dropping like flies because they don't take the pandemic seriously, and they are just about to have a huge crisis because of no stimulus into their economy.

Algorithms see what you watch and just send you similar content. A friend kept putting up crazy Trump stuff during the election and now all my Twitter feeds and facebook feeds have suggestions of Trump family members and rightwing commentators. It's easy to go down an untempered rabbit hole of watching videos that solidify a crazy world view. youtube will send you on a single path of blinkered extreme views one way or the other. After a while you don't have the same line set as to what s extreme because you see no balance.

My wife knows two educated and other wise normal women who have gone Qanon and all Pete Evans. They have lost friends and contact with family members over their beliefs. It's radicalisation....and most of it is US politics stuff any way. It's frightening stuff to me. People have lost their perspective both ways.

Not bagging Biden as often as Trump is now hypocrisy - now that's hilarious.

I've developed an algorithm which compares the frequency of offensive comments and behaviour between Biden and Trump, and apparently the next time the left wing needs to make a critical comment on Biden is on the 23 February 2032.
