Not much, that's why we tried to get pick 25 for him and also ended up getting rid of him a few years later.
Exactly.

Not fit enough to tie Luke Ball's shoe lace.

Why did we offer Wellingham + 30 to North for 25 then?

Because we were trying to get Andrejs Everett from the Dogs, and were trying to get a lower pick than 30 for Ball to satisfy the Dogs, hence the projected trade to North. However Dogs wanted lower than 25, so the deal fell through.

Who knows what would have happened if Andrejs Everett had got to the saints, but on the surface it seems like you dodged a bullet there.

Would have been better than the doughnut we ended up getting!! :(

Off topic but my dad text me this morning saying this -
it was 49 years ago today that the saints won the flag. I was 9 years old and still remember it. We won't have to wait that long for our second.

Can't wait for the saints to get there!! Us saints fans are truly in love with our club!

Freeman is a gun and can't wait to see who else we land.

If you're 55 and your dad is texting he's doing alright for himself

I was 9 years old when we won the flag, and turned 10 the following week. Was there at the G on the great day with my Dad....sadly no longer with us.

I turn 59 next week funnily enough. I will turn 60 a week after we celebrate the 50th anniversary of our flag. There's some Maths for you!

If you had told me then no more flags until at least after I had turned 60.....'well i wouldn't have believed you'!

I shake my head thinking about it. We should have AT LEAST 3 flags i reckon.

Looking for a senior coach if anyone's interested YVMDFL. This thread has more viewers than all the papers so please if your interested PM me.

Should have won four - 66, 71, 09, 10.

65 and 97 a bit beyond us sadly.

Also reckon we would have given 05 a shake if we'd got past the Swans.
65 was too early....even though we had been the best team through the year. We were probably lucky in 66, just made the 4, lost the second semi , and had been thrashed by Collingwood during the season. 71, 97 we were leading at three quarter time. 09, 10 still hurts! They all do really. We are due some luck, but I thought that in each and every one of our gf losses and draw.

The saints shop seriously under stocks - the ugly sweaters only came out a week ago and they're already sold out for us normal sized people. They're meant to be for Christmas.....

I would have said 66, 97, 05 and 09 were the years we should have won.
71 and 10 were close
We could have won them all, lost them all. Sometimes I thank our lucky stars for 66. 71 we were 20 points up at three quarter time. Hawthorn were a very good team, but I thought it was in the bag. Bob Keddie....hadn't had a touch, and gets 4 goals in the last. Oh dear...

Here's a scary thought. We sometimes joke about the one that got away in 1913 when we had won the first gf, but were challenged and then lost the replay. Think that's how it went. That 1913 GF had been 53 years before our win in 66. There wouldn't have been too many people around you would think that had seen both games.

In 2019, when our next 'window' opens we hope, it will have been 53 years since our flag. Bloody heck! If we do get there I might be in line as one of the few to have seen both games. 1913 suddenly doesn't seem that long ago!

How exactly did that finals system work? Why did Fitzroy get a second chance to win?
