Agree.......It's like a sickness invading slowly but surely across the world, and I can't see how they can stop the individual/s who carry out these atrocities.

The world as we knew it growing up is gone. I have 5 great grandchildren all under 6, and I honestly can't fathom what sort of world they will grow up in.

Between the global weather changes and terrorism, the future of this planet is stuffed imo.
This is a horrible situation going on now . Extremely tragic for all involved.
But try to be hopeful regarding the future.
Theres been atrocities throughout history. World Wars, famines ,drought, nuclear disasters ,genocides etc etc.
The human race is a bloody amazing thing to behold. We buckle but we dont break. The Goodness in people finds a way.
Humanity will always rise above an Evil like terrorism.
The day we give up on hope is the day these cowardly scumbags win.
Chin up MacMum.

Cheers...........I'd love to have your optimism, but the world has never seen this type of individual slaughter on this scale. It's like a sneaking virus, never sure where it will pop up next.

At least during previous wars, we knew who and where.

This is so different to anything we have known before.

....but I sure hope you are right.

Great grandchildren and you're online? You go nan!!! :thumbsu::thumbsu:

Agree though. It's never gonna get back to what we knew. Those days are, sadly, gone forever.

Hey, I'm not that old. I still have my mum. 5 generations of us. We're a sturdy lot, born and bred country folk:D

Im not all optimism , sunshine and lollipops or anything like that:D And im not a religious person.
I just think this will be another challenge that life throws in our face and that the goodness in humanity will rise above it.
Im worried too, and if im being honest im also bloody mad as hell about these gutless terrorist.

I hope France stands tall tomorrow and Paris is full with bumper crowds flooding to the city showing respect to the victims and supporting local businesses, cafes, resturants etc etc by getting on with life.
These low life dogs may take a few lives from us but we cant let them stop us living. If we live in fear they win.
Paris has to rally together in record numbers to say to these evil people " F.U. we wont stop living our lives because of your cowardly acts" .

Sorry for the rant guys but i feel pretty strongly about this sort of thing.

No rant mate, and no need to apologise at all. Love the sentiment and the call to arms. The only way to carry on is to not allow their barbarism to effect our way of life. Once we allow that, they win.

Terrible stuff.

I was just telling the Mrs: we are the last generation who will have had the chance to have grown up feeling truly safe. Makes you worry for the kids and the world they are going to inherit.

safe from what?

I cant speak for Kegs but at a guess id say he means safe from random terrorist acts.

Spot on.

It's easy to romantasise about the "good old days" but growing up as a child of the 70s we were isolated from the crap that impacted on other parts of the world. An attack like today, or the Lindt cafe just wouldn't have happened here. (Obviously the Russell street police complex bombing was somewhat of an exception, but it wasn't religious zealots behind it. People who simply cannot be reasoned with)

These days people can be dragged into it just going about their daily business. That's what I meant by feeling safe.

The fact is, there are too many gutless cowards who for some pathetic reason feel aligned to the values of these animals. That's the worry.

11 years later and I still get goosebumps when Schwarze kicks that goal...

What great memories that brings back:)
One of the biggest spine tingling roars from a crowd ive ever heard.
And i remember my son who was only about 7 at the time jumping up out of his seat
when that ball sailed through. Back then he was usualy a quiet , almost shy type of kid . But when we kicked that goal he was jumping up n down with his fists in the air yelling at the top of his lungs lungs in excitement. I will never forget that look on his face:D
Funny how its just a game. Its just one kick.
But little moments can stay with you forever.

I know a lot of peeps love the sport so ill probably get howled down .
But in regards to UFC , people are really gonna take their young kids to Etihad to watch two women have a fight in a cageo_Oo_Oo_O
Call me a fuddy duddy or whatever you like but you gotta be shitting me:eek:

To me it's not a sport if you can smack into someone when they're on the ground. It doesn't sit well with me.

yeah, I cant get into that sport at all Kegs.
I never get any enjoyment watching a bloke kick another bloke either.

Unless of course its the last 10 seconds of the original Karate kid movie and then I start to feel like this
