Nakarawa is a beast. He has a better off load than Sonny Bill Williams. Apparently he trimmed down for the Rio Sevens so he ran on at around 1.98m and 116kg. I saw that when they interviewed Kolinasau the captain of the Fiji team to ask how they would be celebrating he replied the Maccas at the athletes village might be getting a severe workout later, as Ben Ryan declared it off limits when they arrived.Nakarawa is my favourite non-Scottish player of all time ATM. What a ludicrously good player. World XV atm alongside Brodie Retallick. Immense pleasure seeing him for Glasgow and Fiji, both sevens and the full internationals.
Hope you guys pick Ryan's successor well. The talent has always been there, as has the passion and the endeavour. The focus and psychological boost (he's an amazing man manager) he's provided to the team is immense. I remember watching years ago, and the consensus was that if you got the 3 try buffer against the Fijians, the heads would drop and they couldn't get back in. I've seen them chase down 20 point deficits with 4 minutes to go. Amazing team, and as I've continued to see down the Rugby Club, amazing people. Bula!
Actually, CF, the Fijian victory is getting a lot of discussion in my circles, because of the nature of those, uh, "emotional" songs they were singing (unsurprisingly). A lot of us are a bit amused that the fact they're actually hymns is being played down by many in the media.Haha. Just go to Fiji Snake. Every time Fiji wins the World Cup 7's the Prime Minister of the day declares a public holiday. I dare say the people will be waiting expectantly for one now.
We all used to go to work anyway and just spend the whole morning in water cooler talk, then go home early.

The hymns are sung in Fijian, then in English by the players. It is one of those things that makes coaching Fijian teams very hard for expatriates. Island style spirituality must be a part of the coaching process. And it is something the Cambridge educated Ben Ryan embraced from the get go, and which endears him to his players and more importantly the greater public.Actually, CF, the Fijian victory is getting a lot of discussion in my circles, because of the nature of those, uh, "emotional" songs they were singing (unsurprisingly). O cmon we get Grand Final Eve.
Just read this wonderful article about Fiji's Rugby Sevens, "Why Fiji's Culture also Deserves a Medal".The hymns are sung in Fijian, then in English by the players. Fijian rugby players also commonly run on with the numbers 4:13 scribed somewhere on their apparel, as a reference to Phillipians 4:13 which in the new international version reads "13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength." This has become a tradition after our finest sevens player Waisale Serevi first emblazened the refernce on his wrist support strapping. Don't get me wrong though. These boys aren't angels by any stretch of the imagination. But Christianity is a very good mechanism that helps transform softly spoken young lads who lack self confidence, in to ordained warriors on a crusade.
