If a big Roo had my dog in a head lock i would pick up whatever the hell was nearby and try to knock the Roos head off to save my dog.
BUT ...once that Roo had let the dog go that boof head had no right to punch it.
Dogs Ok , Roo was Ok. Just walk away .
Punch was totally uneccesary
Cant wait to see his next video where he eye gouges a wombat.

The guy realised he had to punch the roo to assert dominance, and then the roo would back off. If he'd just walked away, the roo would have jumped him with his legs and he could have been very, very seriously injured.

• Kangaroo – 18 deaths
• Bee – 16 deaths

• Snake – 14 deaths

• Ostrich or emu – 5 deaths
• Others, including fish, sheep, goats, camels, cats and jellyfish – 39 deaths

The actual cause of these fatalities varies with top of the list being falling off a horse, pony or donkey, followed by being crushed or trampled by one. These creatures along with cows, bulls, kangaroos, ostriches, emus and bovine animals were also responsible for a good number of motor vehicle accident fatalities between them, over 50 in all.

Deaths caused by dogs were mainly by bite, although three people died due to motor vehicle accidents caused by dogs and nine people simply fell over a dog. One person during the decade fell over a cat and died.

I can only find a record of one human death by Kangaroo attack ( 1936). But lots of people were "nearly killed" ( in their own words ) by them.
If Kangaroo's are starting to get more aggressive towards dogs, maybe its to do with all the feral dogs in the wild.
Dog deaths by kangaroo seem to get reported a bit as well. Apparently one killed a Pomeranian.

Dogs are more deadly.

Oh shit i just googled "Ass" pictures to post some corny comment forgetting that Americans can't spell or pronounce arse, and think its the same word, and got stuff on the screen i shouldn't have.

Its unfair for the poor members of the equine family to be reffered to in common with arses, even though they each have one.

So, little bit late to the party.

Years ago when my cousins were still little they of course had dogs, and play turned into mauling one of them whilst i was on parental watch as a new teen. Since I was a drive in see twice a year kind of guy, the dog didn't recognise the usual tones and commands to back off and play nice.

So I ran up and punched it in the side of the head, hurt me more since dogs have hard skulls.

So, dog lets go of my cousin, looks at me since I just punched it, and first thoughts in my head was that now I was going to be royally screwed because dogs in a means to go someone, so I headlock it and effectively mount it so that it can't really do anything but calm down. Said cousin who just had his dog go him, walked up to said dog, tears in his eyes and a little bit bloody, and smacked it on the nose, whilst I sternly told him to piss off inside his house. Did I want to punch said dog? Nope, did I set out to do so? Nope, did the dog deserve it? Nope. But you really don't think about those things when you're in that moment where you have to make a choice, the only thing going in your mind is how to stop whatever said animal is doing to something you give a shit about, so that it does not do it again.

I have family that would do that to an animal going their dog, just as I have family who would see it happening, crack a tinny, a deck chair and laugh heartily at the spectacle.

So did the bloke have to punch the roo? Probably not, but the roo did just go his dog, and at his approach to diffuse the situation rear up to make himself look bigger to either launch at him or dissuade him from approaching through intimidation. This isn't a roo in suburbia lost and looking for a way back to the bush and safety, this is a roo, in the bush (judging from the surroundings) in its native habitat, I mean sure I would not have, but as above it's a split second decision you make, you hesitate and shit can get real, really bloody quickly.
