Yeah tend to agree with the selfish bit.

It takes character to realise the damage you are doing to your family and draw a line in the sand.

Not easy to do, but you have to understand what you stand to lose and choose accordingly.

Same goes for making a marriage work.

Adversity tests your character lime nothing else.

I remember watching a piece on Darryn Cresswell from the Swans that ended up in prison. He talked about how the first time he went to the track he won heaps and the first few times he came home with money, then the luck turned and he was always chasing the high and trying to win back the losses. Ended up double mortgaging with multiple banks and got done for fraud. I think at that point it becomes a pathological addiction, not just a selfish campaigner with impulse control problems.

Anyway, it's harder to understand than drugs but things like cocaine, Ecstasy and marijuana aren't seriously addictive but plenty can't stop. I feel sorry for any addict because it's a ****ed humiliating life. Anyway I guess I was lucky the only time I went to the casino pissed with mates and won anything I got up by about $2000 and then lost more than I came with. I was so ****ed off I hated gambling. I don't lose well.

One of the best lessons life can give you is to lose on your first gambling experience.
I did, have never been interested since.

I won on mine.

Old man gave me $20, I won $250.

I got a bar of chocolate since it was kinda illegal for me to be inserting the money and pressing the button, but no one saw so it was cool.

Now I love chocolate and I blame pokies for it!

But yeah I don't gamble, period. Seen too many people screwed over by it, don't even enter work comps or anything.

I worked with two women who were gambling addicts. One got herself back from the brink, the other lost her marriage.

I love gambling. Parents gambled since I can remember and never hid it. I was betting at the races from the age of around 10 and on my own from around 14. Never been good at it but am great at betting within my limits. Take the amount I can afford to lose to the races so if come with any its a bonus. Love the casino but again bet within my limits. Cant stand poker machines. No idea how people can stand them. My mum loves them. Gambling is so much fun if you can control yourself and there is actually skill in some forms especially horse racing.

I'm from a racing family (just hobby stuff, nothing big) going back to my grandfathers day........he lost all the family money gambling.

We have retained our love of all forms of racing ....and pokies, but with the knowledge of what happened with my pop, it has kept us all very aware of what can happen.

My dad (dec.) followed his love of racing religiously, but rarely bet. My hubby is the same.....and I just don't at all.

I do like playing the pokies occasionally ... but have a limit. It's called being responsible.

Gambling is ok if you practice self control.....if others don't, harsh as it sounds, that's their problem not mine or the majority of others who do.

THIS!.
Years ago i used to go to the Casino with $50 to spend.
I never played for the big win.
On a good day i'd be there 5 hours and leave a couple of hundred up.
On a bad day half an hour and i'm out.

If youre gonna spend time at the casino, do yourself a favour and learn how to play craps. Its genuinely fun and a slow burn as well. I routinely have my $50 limit last 45+ minutes of gaming time. Plus if you understand the bets it allows bets with technically zero house advantage (on top of a regular bet in their advantage). Plus everyone plays against the house at the same time so when you win, everyone wins! Only game i play when I rarely go.

Craps is clearly the best casino game. Unfortunately there is only one table in Melbourne and it's not always open

So is heroin if you can stay with in your limits. I worked with a guy that was stealing from work to gamble, ended up in jail at 25. I don't mind people gambling but it shouldn't be promoted 24/7 to become normalised.

In Victoria we are banning plastic bags.
This is because its too hard to get people to not throw them on the ground.

Next i guess we will have to drink softdrink from a vat with a straw.

Meanwhile my household will need to start buying plastic bags to pick up the dogshit in the yard.

Most plastics these days are designed to break down, many of the broken down components end up in the ocean as microplastics. These microplastics are also found in makeup and other products. They adsorb biological chemicals onto their surface which makes them seem like food to some organisms and these organisms preferentially seek out these chemically doped microplastics. The organisms with microplastics are eaten by bigger organisms and the microplastics are concentrated more and more the further you go up the food chain. Earlier I mentioned the chemicals adsorbed onto the surface of the plastic as something that makes it "smell" like food, but there are many other chemicals that attach to these plastic particles, some of which are toxic. These are also concentrated further up the food chain. The plastics also accumulate and by simple space occupation prevent real food from being digested thus reducing overall nutrition. The combined nutritive and toxic impediments are now affecting large numbers of organisms and it seems it may only get worse.

Not saying its not a problem. Just saying the root cause is not the bags, its the pigs just throwing their waste onto the ground.

Hey does that stuff work as a way to lose weight :D.

Plastic bags shouldve been banned years ago

So how are you going to fix the problem of glass and plastic bottles, and cans?
The real problem is that people are disgusting.
Shit there even seems to be a problem of bicycles causing pollution.
Apparently the overseas investors didn't consider how disgusting we are here.

As a general population we are worse than we were decades ago.

Just as bad is the issue of fabric fibers polluting the ocean because of people washing their clothes.

I'm talking bags here
They should've been banned years ago because they can easily be replaced
I don't have an idea on bottles.....hence why I didn't mention them

I'm happy with our strategy so far in this trade period.
We had a nibble with possible deals that would be in our favour. The fact none have come through is not a negative.
We've held our nerve and not pannicked.
So if in the end we are left with 7+8 we are in the best position that we could have been.

I prefer this to just doing a trade for the sake of it and landing players that aren't really going to take us to a flag.

Bags are only a problem because people throw them on the ground.
Fixing the symptom never works.
