In regards to the Vegan protesters who stormed a Melbourne Steak restaurant and used megaphones and chants to harrass people eating.
Firstly I'll admit I'm not much of a steak eater myself. I eat meat but I'm not a huge fan of a big steak.
BUT!!!!! If I was out with my family having a relaxing lunch or dinner and somebody came in with a megaphone near me & my wife and kids and started blasting out " meat is murder" in in our ears I can 100% say that if they ever wanted to use that megaphone again they would have to be flexible enough to bend over to the mouthpiece which by now I would have shoved completely up his arse.
Hope none of these w@nkers
had any leather on their shoes, manbags, or wallets.
Pretty sure they don't wait for animals to die peacefully of old age before they skin them.

I have a 15 year old daughter who has been vegan for over a year, she isn't a protester but she won't wear anything that is leather or has animal testing. We had to go to vegan restaurants all over Europe which is actually pretty easy to find these days. You'd be surprised how much it costs to not put leather in shoes and stuff, it used to be cheap to buy vinyl shoes and stuff but to ethically make plastic shit must be costly.

My daughter dated a vegan for a while. What a pain it was when he came for Dinner or went out with us.
He used to try to say that there were health benefits, but then it was ...oh no that might have touched meat, or i don't know what oil they use in the kitchen here. To me it got very pedantic.

I wonder how those who are Vegans for Ethical reasons view the existence of "other" carnivores in the world.

Meanwhile i don't care how many Vegans there are , because it reduces the demand of meat ( more for me ) but if they come near me with a megaphone while i'm eating my steak they better watch out.

I dont have a problem with anybody deciding to be a Vegan, Vegetarian or whatever the hell they want to eat.
Not a fan of the Vegan Guerrilla Army protest though:p

I have a 23 y.o who is vegan. She doesnt protest or lecture. She finds that counter productive.
She doesnt complain when we eat meat and my teasing.
I am not a vegan, but people deriding them shows they know f all about it and their generalisations about them shows their ignorance and stupidity.

I would be a vegetarian / vegan if I had more strength.

I am philosophically opposed to killing animals just to eat. Especially if the animals' lives are poor quality or they suffer. I do choose have less meat in my diet than I used to but I am weak. I love bacon, steak, pork, lamb, and meat products too much. The best I have done is 3 months of vegetarian only diet. My usual week is 5 days vego and 2 days with meat in a meal. I don't preach to others but I do explain why if asked.

I think vegans have their heart in the right place, but when they get together (often online) they get caught up in a feedback loop. They recognise that most people are just unaware of cruelty in our food production or have a willful blindness to it. Some vegans choose to evangelise.

Evangelism is something I might consider re: climate change, equality or immunisation, but I have not reached that point for animal rights. I suppose it would be hypocritical of me (since I still eat meat) but then, I still contribute towards climate change...

Good story.

When I was growing up in Fiji, maybe 9 or 10 years old, I remember our neighbour was the American Consular General. Anyway I was working with my dad out in the back yard (remember no fences in Fiji), and the neighbour approaches us and introduces himself, and asks for some help. He wants to hire a live-in maid (very common in Fiji) and wondered if Dad, being a local, could recommend somebody. Dad sets about this task with great seriousness, because the last thing he wants, is the new neighbour getting traumatized by a maid with no scruples. He eventually recommends a niece, and she is duly hired. About 4 weeks later the neighbour pops around again while we are in the back yard, and Dad asks how the maid he recommended is going. The American replies "She's wonderful. She's very respectful and does a great job. But, there is one thing that I find a little bit strange. She keeps eating the hedge." Turns out the neighbour's 'hedge' was a very common plant that is a delicacy in Fiji, and is only ever planted for the express purpose of harvesting it regularly.

So I always say to people, that I come from a long line of hedge eaters! People just look at me sideways though.

I really came here to say, that if you had to kill the animals you eat, there would be a LOT less protein consumed in society.

Haha great story.

When people look at you funny because you say hedge eaters, they probably racially stereotype you and think you said 'a long line of head hunters' [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]

What should dogs eat? :D

Its kind of traditional in most society's to eat meat.

What about Bugs? Is it OK to eat Bugs? Angelina want's to know.
Is there an issue of cruelty to Bugs?

In a lot of cultures meat has not been consumed as highly as we do now in the western world. If you ate your chicken you didn't get eggs. If you ate your bull you didn't get calves, eat your cow no milk. Livestock is as good as currency in some places and eating too much is like burning money.

Fair enough, but Vegans choose to dispose of the infertile eggs and don't drink milk either, because cruelty and stuff.

I'm no vegan advocate but the way the milk and eggs are farmed now it's not like a fringe benefit from having a chicken that eats the snails in your back yard. My grandparents had farms and I still have family members who run farms. They won't be handing them over to the next generation because to produce $1 a litre milk you need to be a huge factory farming operation. Intensive farming isn't very good for the animals.

Interestingly there is a push from some physicists suggesting that panpsychism might not be that crazy after all. Things like cups and forks might be "conscious". It will throw up some rather hard philosophical debates about how to eat anything.

I met some Jain followers once who explained how the really strict ones won't eat root vegetables and will only eat fruit that is dropped from a tree already. They are very careful not to harm insects etc. That would be hard to manage.

Pity future generations of protesters - no wonder the vegans are going hard at it now.

The one thing I'd say about vegans, which I think says more about society's different expectations of men and women, male vegans always look ill whereas the female ones look perfectly healthy.

If we used more bamboo or hemp we could probably ditch a lot of plastics and leathers.
I still like leather but, and better to use it than waste it.

Company X needs communication lessons.

The rest of the email is equally unclear.

I reckon both vegan/vego genders look pale and weak. It's just that weak DNA males followed the gals to try and get laid. They were already naturally hindered before further self -inflicted mutation.

Guzzling milk daily is one of the rankest things you can do.

Baby cow sludge is for baby cows.

Allowing your kids to fill up on the shit daily is abuse. The last thing they need is baby cow steroids.

Hold off on the dermatologist appointment til you get 'em off that rancid mucas. They might not naturally look like a gargoyle.

I read this as a MILF buffing a burrito.

I spent 5 minutes looking for that that little donkey.

Mate I am in shock. I can't believe we won the superbowl. How good was the game? I've never supported a team that has won a/the title in my lifetime!

My love for the Saints is 100x more than the Eagles and I'm over the moon now so I can only imagine what that will feel like when the Sainters finally do it
