I actually read an interesting article about the role forums play in some peoples mental heath. They seem to always have negative articles on how the internet is producing a generation of social ******ed isolated odd balls. This article was saying a lot of older people who would otherwise suffer from disorders bought about by loneliness are actually staved off by the connections on line. It's like one big mens shed on line with out the crappy woodwork pieces littering your house. Probably sponsored by Google or something but interesting.

Anyway, it is interesting that you are probably more likely to be less filtered on here because of anonymity than with your closest friends. It's probably actually pretty sad really when I over think it. Anyway I think I use the forum to make myself unproductive, it's just a massive procrastination tool for me. I'm pretty sure it costs me thousands to post irrelevant opinions on here.

There is a disturbing point you come to when you seem to know people quite intimately on a forum, it's evidence of way too much time spent on here. My wife thinks I'm working on my lap top when I post at home, she walks in and sees BF and whines at me and now I have to kill the window as she walks in. Probably thinks I'm looking up scat pr0n or something more impressive than footy chat.

When she met me I was politically active and arty, got the ring on her finger and turned into Peter Griffen.
Let's be honest... It's either this place or pr0n.

Let's call it for what it is.

We're inside a simulation brah.

But seriously, cool post. I spent a lot of my teenage years on forums (GTA Forums, Boards and also the Stick Cricket forum of all things) the latter two of which no longer exist sadly) but there's quite a few that made it over here Rough_Edges Speck Headless The Speaker (I think anyway, hai guys!).

I'll expand on this post later but I think forums are a pretty crazy thing. I've met a few people - from here and SC and everyone was pretty similar to who they presented themselves as on forums.

I think it's so cool that every one of our posts will be visible for decades to come. Even if this forum does go down I think the Way Back Machine will keep a small amount of it alive.
I have no idea what this thread is, but you will always be in my heart. <3

much love

Whatever you do don't get addicted to Secondlife. Its the worst of both worlds ( Forums and pr0n ) and the more you think about it the more f...ed up it is and totally unfiltered.

I didn't even know it was still going. Sounds better than whining about how bad our season and coach is. I'm off to masturbate with a bunch of weirdos who are pretending to be someone they're not. ;)

Hey i look better than Lachie Weller, and i have a stack of girlfriends and i know one of them is female ( the cranky one ).

So I was doing 50 x 50 tempo work last night (50 metres by 50 times with a 20 second rest time), when my left hammy tightened up @ about 35. Went to 45 until I did a continual halfpaced jog for another 10 laps.

Upshot is that my hammy tightened because of hip flexers and overworked muscles in the gluts.

SO, I go for a lower back and leg massage for 45 mins to loosen up said flexors and gluts.

Have never had so much pain inflicted on me for money..well since Mistress Tracey and...well thats another story.

Fair Dinkum, first time I have had a massage and needed a safe word instead of AOOWWWWWWW and 'stop it you fat chinese bag'

Suffice to say it has worked, my hammy is less tight but my hips and gluts feel like some kent has stuck needles in them.

The only people who say they are releaxed by massages are the special types with the extra's thrown in at the end.

Get a real one and there is nothing relaxing about it.

Yeah, I remember getting massages like that, I always thought it was payback for colonisation or something. It's a bit like dencorub, the skin is burning so much that the injury feels fine.

I was a remedial therapist back in Oz, deep tissue specialist. The hip flexors and adductors can make a grown man cry. In general though I think it's a bit like spicy food. Once you get used to it you can't even taste mild or medium foods any more.
Relaxation massage can be awesome too though. Non sporting people get so much of their pain from tension and stress.
Miss doing that work. Making people feel better is a great way to make a living.

And WTF is the go with the RTB Ligament, you know the kent that connects your hip to your knee over the quad.

Every time it is massaged I want to punch the campaigner doing it. Why does it always have to hurt so much?

Spoke to a work collegue who rides bikes and he said i is the same for bike riders as well.

So I ask again, WTF is the go with this frikken thing? Whats the point of constantly being sore?

So CarSales.com the big smartarse car selling site, think that there are two types of engine.
Aspirated or Turbo.
You dumb bastards ..... they are ALL Aspriated unless they carry their own oxygen supply.

They are "forced Aspiraton" ie turbo or supercharger or "Natural Aspiration" .

Its bloody stupid to go around referring to engines as "Aspirated".

Anyway i had to vent that somewhere and my wife wouldn't have appreciated it.

Cause I run up to 50ks a week and walk another 50.

My flexors and aductors get tight as all get out.

Getting them massaged affects the hammy's calves, Achilles, quads and RTB's.

All get stressed and tight

Do you mean the ITB? iliotibial band?
That does hurt when it's tight. If you massage it a lot it should feel better each time. Maybe hurts more for fit buggers like you. Got a rub from a Japanese guy the other day. Usually the guys here are silent, brutal and relentless with their shiatsu prodding. This guy was surprisingly gentle and chatty. They're often blind here, interestingly.

There's your issue.

All that tension form your active lifestyle in them muscles where if bones can be carbon dated due to wear your muscles might as well have been 482 years old and you expect that unwinding them and making them loose the first time won't sting like a mofo?

That's why upon later massages it feels better, because after time and after the age retracts back to what you are, it just feels nice to have them worked on.

Half. Marathons take too long to train for.

Need to run up to 80 ks a week leading up to a marathon.

Was out doing a 23k run one Sunday and the Marathon trainers were running a 36 ker.
There goes Sunday. I run up to 50 k when in training so actually embellished. Running between 30 to 40 a week at the moment.

Also 42.185 ks is a long time as I like to run races alone. Im not fast and would take 4 plus hours. Would get bored.

Last half was 1: 53.

And luca77 yes meant ITB, things hurt like hell.

My brother in law trained for a half marathon about 5 years ago now he's absolutely obsessed, he does 2 iron mans every years and various marathons around the world. He is close to 50 and the fittest he's ever been by a huge amount. He must spend so much money on them, he usually takes the family with him so they don't crack the shits and he's taken to flying business class to keep himself in good condition. My wife cracks the shits when I spend $200 going out with my mates for drinks.

"But babe, 12 pints and a pack of ciggies is completely equivalent to having the hard chiselled body of a performance athlete"

*wheezes walking up the front steps.

Exactly how I see it. $200 would hardly get you drunk these days and taking a cab fare out and it's hard to get tipsy. That's how you know you're getting old, you hand over $50 when you buy a round and you get coins back and think it's a mistake.
