Agree. It seems like we try and twist ourselves in knots to work out why us getting attacked was justified.

Of course no one likes to see all in brawls in sport but what were we meant to do when it went from fouls on court into a fist fight with cowards ganging up on our players and nutcases from the crowd throwing haymakers? Of course we will give as good as we get and fair enough too, would be disappointed in our national team if they didn't stick up for their team-mates.

There's only about four or five teams that can win it in the nba. Might as well call off the regular season.

I love basketball, but there are way too many nothing games in the nba where there are some outstanding players just cruising around.

Simply: It doesn't matter how rich Joe Bloggs is , if he can make 20% more money by moving his operation, including all the jobs to China , he will. Then he won't pay any tax to Australia.

Its not giving money to a rich dude, its encouraging business. If you want to go total socialist you need to follow Lenin's example and close the borders and start repressing. In between socialist systems won't work. Those affected too adversely will simply take their bat and ball and go and find other kids to play with.

A bit of Chicken or the Egg in this line of thinking for me. Are we well off because our corporations are strong. Or are our corporations strong because we are well off?

I like to think that if the middle class is financially secure then a strong business community will evolve from that.

I also prefer a policy framework that allows business to evolve from entrepreneurial households. And I dislike that which seeks to attract established money or debt fuelled companies.

In my head it‘s all the same money, and the question is should the government take their slice off households or corporations? And for mine the obvious answer is both.

But corporations are sociopathic by their very nature and always seek to maximise their share of the pie. When regulatory agency gets captured by corporations then we the people effectively end up being governed by big business. Case in point America.

And that’s not good for all invested parties because it will inevitably lead to cataclysmic change.

It's pretty much the difference between companies now and 50 years ago. Once you worked for one company and they treated you like family, the CEO got 4 times the guy in the factory floor. Now they lance you every four years before your long service and rights kick in and off shore the jobs or automate anything they can. The people at the top will get 10 years wages of the sacked factory worker in bonuses for doing the dirty work.

Our heatwave continues; it hasn't rained in weeks, which is most unusual for a British summer. Long hot days at around 28-30 degrees. Not Darwin/Perth temperatures, granted, but good for us. It's already the best summer we've had in years.

hang on im not excusing the actions of the Filipino team at all ... just stating its a very long bow to say the coach or their team planeed the fight to happen ...
the fact is there is bad blood between the teams its not the first time there have been issuse ... the initial foul on goulding was intentional and from my vantage point was a show of frustration from a player who has a reputation of being a dirty player no mistake there ... but what should of happened is Goulding should have got up and taken his foul shots and the possesion ant that be it ... sure the aussie players have every right to remonstrate with the player making the foul a bit of push and shove would have be fair .. but for Kickert to come out with an elbow to the head like he did thats not on .. what proceeded after that point is even worse ....
im not saying its right but in the mind of the Filipino team the Aussies were being disrespectful and befor the game started there was heat in the game (yes caused by the filipino team) thats where the refs needed to take control early and stamp out the niggle ... i actually watched the majority of the game last night online and it was a terribly officiated game both sides were pushing the boundaries with cheapy elbows and pushes ... the filipino team are known for that rubbish the aussie team who realistically are trying to claim a top 3 ranking in the world should be better then that aand not get drawn into those kind of titfortat antics ...
the Philipines team already were a joke .. a minow team with a bad rep .. the boomers sank to their level then the philippines took it to a whole other level

looks like the aussies never kicked off the s**t behaviour. i think there's a stereotype of aussie sports people that they're arrogant and unsportsman like on the field. so any conflict must be because they have talked s**t or instigated it. its totally unfair IMO.

sure we have history but its no different to any other competitive nation around the world, so we can't keep jumping on our own based on a stereotype. it appears we are more prepared to through our fellow country men under the bus than other nations are prepared to do. sand paper gate is absolute proof of that. whilst i think its good we hold our sides to a higher standard than other countries i do think we need to get better at coming to the defence of our own.

lets be honest if an opposition player tried to trip you up in what is a harmless warm up, you would probably push them or have words with them over their campaignerish behaviour. it appears from that moment on the aussies probably had their back up knowing they're prepared to go to do some pretty assholish s**t to get a win. so once that block happened, which from that angle would look like a forearm to the face, the aussie probably tried to do the same thing and overcooked it.

that by no means excuses our behaviour but i do think the focus here should be on what started it and the serious nature of a mob assaulting what is an athelete in a foreign country.

have you seen Chris Goulding play ?? i know a few guys who played with and against him at various levels and he is a flog of the highest order ... i love the boomers next to the Saints they are my favorite sporting team but hoenstly we should be better than that .. the blow up was extreem and unforgivable but really had we been more professional then it wouldnt have got to that.. i mean even the removing of the stickers .. totally understandable they needed to be removed but FFS go about it the right way , just doing it themselves does stink of very little respect being paid ... you report it and get the officals to order it be removed (and if not then you simply refuse to field a team)... this whole thing is just little spot fires niggling and niggling under the surface ... the boomers shouldbe above all this
