im all ok now was thinking i might need a change of undies cause it certainly scared the crap outta me but my main concern was someone else further down the road ... it was 5:30am so its not uncommon for drivers to be still somewhat waking up to start the day so they might not be as awake as i was to aviod this mad man....
interesting side note it was the same stretch of road Ben Cousins was caught driving meth'd off his face recently ... it wasnt Ben who i faced but it has me thinking that there is most likely a dealer close by ...
It’s a bit simplistic, it’s not as though you can just hail a cab or use Uber.if we are going to cut cost i think the cars the cops drive should be towards the bottom of the list... the dollars spent on parlimentry drivers would be high on the list of what i would cut
We used to have local police stations and police walked the beat.My kid has had his license a couple of weeks he's already had a driver heading towards him on the wrong side of the road. He's a nervous driver and all the more now.
My daughter who had been driving around a year, was parked at traffic lights unable to move, while a "non-gang" was moving towards her car smashing lights , panels and windows with baseball bats on the cars in front of her" the cops arrived before they got to hers, and the "non-gang" all ran off. ( no arrests of course ,
( its easier to park the BMW on the side of the freeway and radar a few cars for doing 10km/h over the limit ).
I remember the old movie "Escape from New York" and wonder what we're turning into.

Haha yeah, look you wonder if you’ll end up charged yourself that’s the problem.I would have held onto him. Tie him up, sit on his back & watch some TV while you wait.
Then you both have a reason to complain to the police about how late they are.

sorry thats rubbish ive seen it first hand the line of luxury cars infront of parliment to take MP's to their lodging it is a total indulgent waste ... i get the duty of care side of working long hours and driving ive worked on minesites where that is a huge factor but workers doing that get a shuttle bus to get them back to lodging not a line of luxury cars ...It’s a bit simplistic, it’s not as though you can just hail a cab or use Uber.
I worked at 1 treasury place back in the day and know as well as anyone how the system worked then.
Some ministers and other members have a designated car and driver, others use a pool. Now when you consider all the meeting they have to attend in an offical capacity some in country electorates and add that to the sometimes torturous hours that both houses sit it’s not appropriate, safe or the best use of their time for members to drive themselves.
These people are reading reports, briefings, taking calls etc getting on with what their elected to do part of that cost is the drivers.
I haven’t done a costing of what a private service would cost in comparison but I doubt it would be any cheaper or deliver the same quality of service.
I know exactly how much drivers were paid back then, it seems generous but it’s really due to the hours they are required to be on duty, without the overtime it’s just a decent wage in line with their responsibilities remember these guys are chauffeurs not cabbies.
It’s funny I’ve worked for the state and commonwealth as well as multinationals and other smaller businesses. The government really runs a pretty tight ship by comparison, wages are much lower and rorting is pretty much non existent. Most of the red tape is because it’s required by law and demanded by the very public that complains about it.
Shuttle bus to where exactly, their all going to different places so that’s just rubbish st trav, this is a city of 5 million not a remote mine site.sorry thats rubbish ive seen it first hand the line of luxury cars infront of parliment to take MP's to their lodging it is a total indulgent waste ... i get the duty of care side of working long hours and driving ive worked on minesites where that is a huge factor but workers doing that get a shuttle bus to get them back to lodging not a line of luxury cars ...
a very good friend of mine works in car leasing so yeah i know and have seen the big rort that is as well ... ive seen leased cars for government officals sit in shire depot's doing two parts of stuff all while they get a driver to run them in and out of meetings .... next you will tell me a Chopper flight to an event is reasonable ...Shuttle bus to where exactly, their all going to different places so that’s just rubbish st trav, this is a city of 5 million not a remote mine site.
The lines there because parliament has finished for the day. It’s either the current system or a private one, which in my fairly well informed opinion would cost you more for less.
Many of these guys are also in a general pool working driving other officials around.
Do you get a company car st trav? You realise that many people do or lease through a business and claim it as an expense. Executive level public servants can get a car as part of their package so we’re talking specifically about the drivers as a cost here.
You should check out your local members itinerary, it’s no walk in the park they work long hours and really cover some ground. In WA it would be even worse for members with country electorates.
Interestingly the great peter mackenna gave away teaching and the media to become a chauffeur for the state government.
Lucky to still be here mate, buy a Tatts ticket.Meth is bad kids ......
ok i sit here slightly shaken posting this feeling very lucky to be alive.. so this morning on my comute to work driving down the same street i drive every morning i came across something i was not expecting to start my day ... traveling at about 140km/h on the wrong side of the road was a White toyota hilux 4WD heading directly for me head on.. at first i though it was just an idiot trying to overtake at possibly the most stupidist place , but as the 4WD got closer and closer i could see the driver was quite litterally Meth'd out of his brain, he was bashing his head against the steering wheel screaming at the top of his lungs with the spit from his frothing toothless mouth hitting the windscreen ... averting the imminent head on collision i mounted the curb hitting the dewy grass of the business facing the road i was travelling on causing the back end of my car to lose traction almost putting me into a spin, thankfully i managed to right the car before heading into the brick letterbox of the said business and avoided a prang ...
mean while Mr 4wd Meth head continued down the road at 140km/h on the wrong side looking for his next victim ... once i composed myself a quick call to the cops to report the crazy driver was made ... hopefully they catch him before he runs across someone not as alert as me....
Where getting off topic a bit but for what’s it’s worth there seperate issues.a very good friend of mine works in car leasing so yeah i know and have seen the big rort that is as well ... ive seen leased cars for government officals sit in shire depot's doing two parts of stuff all while they get a driver to run them in and out of meetings .... next you will tell me a Chopper flight to an event is reasonable ...

Different thing they love pork barreling. They love spending money down at the Cattery .
Will be over $100 million free hit from the Government.
A lot of people would do that or worse , then our legal system would no doubt penalise the adult home owner more the the "juvenile" criminal thug.
Given the violent criminals running rampant, its totally frustrating to see them snub their noses at our sensitive new age police, who then seem to go no tolerance on minor misdemeanours of otherwise law abiding people.
Immigration and breeding are blowing out the population, and it superficially helps the economy, but not if you take into account the fact that infrastructure and services have not increased to accommodate it.
Police is just one of those services.
And with that in mind, why it's more racist to caricaturise a black woman throwing a tantrum than a white man in politics or "corporates".
We used to have local police stations and police walked the beat.
Now in my neighbourhood the police station has closed as they have in several adjoining suburbs along with the fire station and the population would have at least doubled in that time.
Couldn’t agree more, you defend yourself and worry about the wash up latter.I'm not above things to say that some bloke attempting to gain entry through my window received the blunt end of an axe to the face before he scurried off over the fence after some obscenities, because you know, you kinda don't expect it in suburbia.
Way I see it, if it's a choice situation, what happens after happens after, in the there and then, a choice was made to negatively impact a person, if that person is yourself then screw the other guy until they stop.
Also just rehash;
It's not, one is just more socially accepted because stigma. At its core racism is racism if it's the point of highlight to infer inferiority or volatility based on the race of the person. It's only "more" or "less" because you're using excuses to validate certain levels of racism as acceptable as it's what society deems is acceptable.
Time was we only had 2 cops in town for the shift change, and detectives had to be shipped in from 2 suburbs away despite the population trebling. We were lucky in our position since a block over the local fire dept for response times, but yeah, good luck seeing anyone in uniform despite things having gotten better, it's also why we still used the Neighbourhood watch when others had dropped it, since it's all you had to suppliment.
" 'Tis better to explain to twelve than to be carried by six." Old police proverb.Couldn’t agree more, you defend yourself and worry about the wash up latter.
Fantastic news Perse!! excuse me, DOCTOR Perse!Okay, guys. I just received word from that my examiners have passed my PhD with very minor revisions. It only took 6 weeks, which is apparently mega-quick (I was expecting to wait until November).
So, it looks like I'm Doctor Percy now.
I just wanted to thank the many of you who have kinda walked the PhD journey with me over the years, in this thread and elsewhere. I've really appreciated your support, friendship and encouragement along the way.
