Moronic choice to put him in the centre and stick Petrie down forward, Brennan is about as volatile as they come where I'd either stick him in the GK or for impact off the bench in short bursts. But yeah,his attempt at a banana was just abysmal...

Was reading through the most hated player thread and thought it wouldn't be worth asking there, anyone wanna tell me why Milne is THE most hated player in the AFL?

He's an exciting, entertaining player, has courage, not a sniper, can put in woeful performances but that's no reason to hate him, is it purely because of the alleged rape thing? Seeing as no one hates on Joey constantly I'm guessing not. I'm just wondering because, apart from being somewhat frustrating as a fan, he's one of my fav players

I think he's just one of those people that really gives you the shits no matter what they do. To put in perspective they hate Milne like we hate Jeff Farmer. Just happens.

Dude, everyone hates small crumbing forwards.

Farmer, Didak, Daisy, Milne.

Not sure why, but they're just hated. Maybe cos people think their goals are cheap. Maybe cos they're up and down most weeks. Maybe if I was a Collingwood supporter I'd hate Milney and love Didak and Thomas...

But yes, Milneys one of my fave players, just a shame he doesn't pull off miracle goals every 2nd week like he used to. But that goal against Collingwood, and that one against the Roos...Hell yeah!

I loved Daisy in the IR game, he looked so manly, like a sunburnt palm tree... man I so would have swooned over him... then promptly burnt him some more with a flame thrower or something "you missed a spot, let me help"

But yeah, might be because the possessions they get are deemed cheap in that it;s viewed that they merely pick up scraps when the real players combat each other.

Poor old Milney cops it from opposition fans that's for sure. Not really sure why he is the no.1 most hated player, as I can think of a lot worse, but I can see how he might annoy opposition fans. He even annoys me plenty of times when he plays on or tries to do something fancy and stuffs up.

I guess like all the best small forwards/goal sneaks Milney tends to kick a lot of those cheeky little goals out of nowhere, which we all love, but really annoys the hell out of the opposition. I know similar players like Farmer, Didak, Phil Matera etc. always annoyed the hell out of me when they played against us. Just goes with the territory of being a small forward really.

I think that goal sneaks are not really appreciated as they, in the (not necessarily correct) opinion of many :

- don't look like a 'real' footy player (a Steven King is big, strong and manly while a Daisy Thomas is lanky and girlish);

- don't have a lot of skills (they are opportunistic and often apply less than ideal kicking techniques);

- tend to be rather egoistic and act as divers and / or show ponies (who cares about the premiership if I can get the goal of the year award);

- tend to indulge in rather theatrical jubilation acts wich sometimes appear to have been rehearsed before the game (this was far worse in american football though - but over the top jubilations now trigger a 15m penalty in the NFL);

- tend to yap at opposing players (but will hide behind Steven King if chased by a big player) and supporters a lot and will involve / react to the public.

I'd say that the reason that opposition don't like Milney is that he is by far the best goal sneak and has been the best goal sneak for several years ! He should regard the title as most hated player in the AFL as a compliment.

I don't think Milney is as bad as some players when it comes to over the top goal celebrations. Sure he tends to get pretty excited when he kicks a goal and he might do the odd Brett Lee 'chainsaw' but he's nowhere near as bad as Jeff Farmer with his self indulgent 'jesus pose' or Mark Williams and his 'shotgun'.

I also think he has become a lot more team oriented in recent years and is doing a lot more defensively than early on in his career when he was only interested in kicking goals. I was actually pretty impressed with the way he played in the 2nd half of last season, thought he was one of our better players.

Man that was a good game when he kicked 11... ah happier times (probably). But his best game was probs his 7 goals this year against Richmond that got us over the line by 3 points. Milney=Legend.

I just realized we're the only team board (besides Fitzroy and the Gold Coast) without a general discussion board. Probably due to our lack of posts. But Kildo have you ever thought about asking the Chief for one. Is there a minimum requirement of posts per week or something like that? Would be a good idea i reckon, give us something to talk about other than footy. And it will also lift that all important post count too.

Can't understand why Krejza has only come in now. White should never have been played, Krejza was always a better bowler which was what we needed.

White is useless. Selected before Krejza because he's handy with the bat. Has done nothing to prove his worth. Besides get Tendulkar out a few times.
Was good to see Ponting have faith in Krejza when he was getting belted to all ends of the ground. Even the commentators were having a go at Ponting for keeping him in.

Memo to Merv and co. stay away from the Vics. With exception of Dave Hussey. Please.

Quality over Quantity ey? I'll count to a million if i have to.
I noticed though alot of Saints posters on here who post other boards like AFL and Bay 13 but don't on our board. Wonder why that is? If we got something interesting to post about that doesn't necesarilly require opinions, just general chat, there would be alot more posts. Afl topics require opinions, and you usually state your opinion once. Talking about something more general like what you do for a living or about the cricket or EPL season would create more posts.

Judging by the perseverance Punter showed with Krejza, compared with his reluctance to bowl White I reckon he wanted Krejza in from the first test but was overruled by the selection committee
