I do enjoy my av, gets the point across without having to spell it out, if you know what i mean.

Loud as in the forum exploded in the past 72hrs. Normally it's the same 15-20 posters, not this week. It's buzzing.

Real Man's BBQ - Not for metrosexuals or latte drinkers

Here's just a couple of the Q&As:

Q: Hi does this BBQ come with a gas bottle ? Also is it safe to pick up from Carramar ? I've heard I may get robbed there and have been recommended by a friend to leave my dog at home.
A: The gas bottle will be thrown in so you can start cooking up those snags right away. Carramar is a dodgy area but only because it is full of metrosexuals. Grow yourself a set of mutton chops, dont shower for the rest of the week and definately no pants and you will blend right in (you are female though right ?).

Q: I have a colleague at work that is single and looking for hot birds, preferably 25 - 30. Will this bbq help him?
A: Without question. Women pretend to be attracted to moisturiser smelling, highly groomed, stubble wearing freaks. But lets face it, women want only one thing. A man to let them know how it is going to be and when it is going to be.

Q: I barrack for Collingwood, does that make me elligible me to have a bid on this magnificent specimen of culinary class?
A: Hello. Yes of course you can bid on the item but as you do barrack for Collingwood and the price is already above $6, not to be offensive but it would seem you would not be able to afford that amount.

Q: If you're such a man, why did you sell a skirt in 05?
A: If youre such a man, why are you searching for skirts ?

Just steering this ship towards a contentious issue. I am interested in hearing opinions on the supposed "racially influenced" attacks on Indian students. Are Indian officials being too irrational, is our media blowing this way out of propotion, or are Aussies too ignorant to see "it"? I have my opinion :), just wanted to hear other peoples views on the issue.

Srs or not.

My view is that (unfortunate as it is) people of all backgrounds are bashed and mugged from time to time. The law of averages will dictate that occasionally these people will be of Indian heritage.

I know a number of Indian and Sri Lankan people at my cricket club - none of whom have been bashed or mugged. I know people of other backgrounds - two of whom have been bashed in the CBD and one in a mistaken identity road rage incidient.

The media is having a great time of this, and I noted from one broadcast that they kept referring to an indicident where "an Indian man" was bashed, along with "another man".

The protests in India are entirely laughable.

Guy gets stabbed, it must be because he's Indian, big FU to Australia for being racists!
Using that logic;
Guy causes traffic accident, unborn baby dies, guy drives off from scene. Hes Indian, big FU to Indians for being baby killing horrible drivers.

Pick which one would be more likely to be deemed outlandish and racist.

The unfortunate truth is that the media perpetuate an "us against them" agenda as Squizzy stated using cuch terminology to highlight race where it is contentious to do so. You don't hear "a white man was stabbed today in a..." it's always "a man" yet youhear "A Greek man..." "An Indian man..." "A man of European ethnicity..." "Chinese" and etc as if the race was poignant in the story. They then draw int he weak minded fools who play the race card that because an Indian was stabbed it had to be because he was Indian and others were intolerable of this fact.

It disgusts me to no end whoever potrayed the police force as the KKK in the media, if they are so sure of white bias than why don;t these heroes solve the bloody crime themselves within the confines of the law.

What I havent seen is concrete statistics regarding the percentage of the general population attacked compared to the percentage of indians. This would probably be too boring for the media to publish.
I have heard that some racial groups ( Somalians)? may have a racist hatred towards them.

Depends how you "classify it" as to how you spin the story of the race card.

In the two situations I outlined above (the hit and run and the stabbing) the two were not Australian citizens and here on Visas (student and working I believe) would you call these Indians and would you call an Indian with Australian citizenship (living in Australia) an Indian or an Australian?

The percentage would actually be very low given that in Melbourne specifically the last sensis should most of Asia covered, a fair bit of Europe, Indonesia and the Carribbean with the usual dribs and drabs from other nations. "Indians" themselves would make up a small percentage as a minority group of ethnicity when you compare with "Vietnamese, Chinese, Mongolian, Japanese, North / South Korean, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia" and so on so forth, a smaller fraction still would comprise of those actually attacked. So if the Indian populace made up 15% of Melbournes it'd be entirely likely that less than 1.5% of them were attacked because of their race and not any other reason.

@Punter, that's the pic that is rather pathetic I'm amazed it was allowed to be published in a way since it'd just end up pissing people off further and escalating any tension between the countries.

Oh imagine the outcry and plethora of effergies if the Herald Sun printed a cartoon defaming India/ns, or an Australian appeared on Indian TV declaring India/ns terrorists.

Pretty much agree with everything here. But as much as i despise the whole issue, and think India is being irrational, the whole issue is being driven by our media. And they are loving it.

So a different take on this mess with trading in '09;

Malthouse was originally drafted as an AFL player by.... St Kilda.
Malthouses coaching record at the pies is 216 played: 108w 108l
Collingwood draft Ball with 30

It's all an elaborate plan to wound the Pies from the inside out, and how can you get this to happen if not by offloading one your most loyal players to fill the role!

That takes care of Collingwood, and with Barry Hall going to Dogs, well, there's another ex-Saint, who after completing his job at Sydney in nabbing Ross goes to the Dogs to suck them up some. All we need is someone in geelong and we're set. :p

Was thinking about putting this in the joke thread (well, it did make me laugh):

Magpie star Dane Swan has taken a hit in the hip pocket after crashing his Porsche into a parked truck on the way to football training.

The gun Pies midfielder clipped a refrigerated van in Kingsville, in Melbourne's west, about 7am yesterday.

His silver 4.5-litre V8 Porsche Cayenne S was badly damaged on the left front side, but Swan suffered mainly embarrassment.

"What does it look like? I hit a parked car, mate."

The 26-year-old was on the way to training when he crashed barely a block from home.

"I don't know anything," he said

Collingwood spokesman Nick Hulett said "it looks like a stock standard traffic accident, nothing untoward".

What is it with Collingwood players and automobiles? I mean every other club there's booze or drugs or rape or theivin thievery yet with Collingwood it's always "oh, he pranged it, yeah pranged it good and proper!"

Seriously, get a bike or a goddamn tricycle. Baby steps.
