DELICIOUS!Is Mark Howard licking his lips???![]()
, just wanted to hear other peoples views on the issue. Just steering this ship towards a contentious issue. I am interested in hearing opinions on the supposed "racially influenced" attacks on Indian students. Are Indian officials being too irrational, is our media blowing this way out of propotion, or are Aussies too ignorant to see "it"? I have my opinion, just wanted to hear other peoples views on the issue.
My view is that (unfortunate as it is) people of all backgrounds are bashed and mugged from time to time. The law of averages will dictate that occasionally these people will be of Indian heritage.
I know a number of Indian and Sri Lankan people at my cricket club - none of whom have been bashed or mugged. I know people of other backgrounds - two of whom have been bashed in the CBD and one in a mistaken identity road rage incidient.
The media is having a great time of this, and I noted from one broadcast that they kept referring to an indicident where "an Indian man" was bashed, along with "another man".
What I havent seen is concrete statistics regarding the percentage of the general population attacked compared to the percentage of indians. This would probably be too boring for the media to publish.
I have heard that some racial groups ( Somalians)? may have a racist hatred towards them.
