I always stir up Blues supporters at work by saying Jezza was a champion Stkilda player who showed promise during his time at Carlton:)
You're doing good works

I stir up Carton supporters by saying "Cain Ackland and Craig Devenport". Makes me happy.

Jezza. My favorite player
Back in 1980 there was a game my mum wouldnt let me go to co's i had the flu. My sister & brother went and they bumped into Jezza who was in the crowd watching the early part of the reserves game. They asked him for an autograph for me. He signed a page in the footy record and wrote....
"Dear Snake* I hope your feeling healthy soon" Alex JEZZA Jesaulenko.
ironically the 'healthy' wishes were written on a Winfield 25's cigarette ad:D:D
I liked Jezza after that as well sammm:thumbsu:

*Snake obviously isnt my real name:rolleyes:

To bring this back to Scifi chat for a moment: Go to the movies and see Interstellar. It's 169 min long but if you like space travel, wormholes, blackholes and the end of the human race you should enjoy it. The soundtrack is also amazing.

I'm not always big on the "mainstream"scifi though.
Take gravity for example. I liked the film, but in the end, Sandra floated through space for a bit through a debris field, and spacehopped to a different ship and returned to the planet.

Captain Kirk, did stuff like that before breakfast each morning while simultaneously making out with an alien chick.

Interstellar is a bit more scifi than gravity which was pretty one directional. It's got more a complex plot than gravity and is fairly heavy on the science (even if the science isn't 100% perfect) and has some alien influence thrown in. They go to a couple different worlds and have cool AI robot helpers but it's not a full on scifi like Star Trek etc.

This draft period has claimed its first victim, me!

To put it in perspective I'm very out of shape after four months of non exercise and most of that eating my way through Europe! I've put on 15kgs in that time, so at the end of a workout session in a grass paddock mind you (first mistake) I decided to see how I rated amongst the draftees times over a 20m sprint. First run, 3.04 which was ok as I used to be a decent sprinter about 15 years ago, second run - about a metre left I feel a ping.

Major, major hamstring snap. :(

To quote Danny Glover, I'm too old for this shit! Currently on a couch in a world of pain, cheer me up lads!

I thought that "Promethius" was pretty full on.
( funny they used the name of the Stargate ship ).
While Promethius was cinematographically good, it was junk on just about every other level. What a waste of a great budget.

Gravity was action packed and tried very much to stick to scientifically feasible - liked it for those reasons
I usually like a well scripted movie. This barely had a script. Just enough to baby feed you on what is going on.

Gravity was pretty Crap. Hoping Interstellar is better, gonna see it after exams. Gone Girl was brilliant, well shot, directed, written and acted.

Saw Interstellar last night. Thought it was exceptional :thumbsu:

I won't spoil too much but it really is the definition of a Sci-Fi movie. Needs some suspension of disbelief as it gets pretty crazy at stages. Well acted and for a movie that goes for nearly 3 hours, they don't spend too long getting into it and it never feels like it's gone for too long.

Only downside is the soundtrack. It's actually amazing. It's just over-powering at times and I seriously struggled to hear what they were saying at times.

But yeah it's a minor inconvenience in what is otherwise one of my favourite movies this year.

The main things that weren't factual in gravity were:

1. The 2D orbits. Everything was in an orbit of exactly the same elevation ie you can't go from space station to space station without changing velocity.
2. Sandra's underwear, which , while quite fetching, was nothing like the real gear which resembles a full body nappy.

Hey guys im trying to remember something but need a lil help!

Pretty sure we were playing the Eagles at the dome back then and we kicked something like 10 goals straight in the first qtr?
Who was the bloke that hit the post for our first point?

Memorys shot so please forgive any mistakes!

That would be Stevie Lawrence.

We kicked 11 straight from memory. I think that was the day BJ went nuts as a makeshift FF and kicked 4 or 5 as well.

thanks L_W_P

can't remember much about Goddard in that game. I'll have to find the replay and watch it.

Might have been a different game then. I just remember BJ kicking like 4 in a qtr from FF against the Eagles at Etihad haha

Well friends, I'm off to Zambia today for three weeks, to lecture at a College there. I might have internet access, but maybe not. If I can't get access, then here's hoping Draft day goes well.
