The lemon was originally used in Mexico to sterilise the glass that you drank from. It had nothing to do with the taste. Love my Coronas after a big hot day mowing and prefer lime with mine

Ok that makes sense but why do it now if it tastes so good. I know anyone who drinks VB is considered uncultured now but we would never put a flavour in it.

Watching the AFL Legends match, they missed a trick not getting a Jenny Craig sponsorship, because the first thought watching a lot of these legends running around in vests and shorts, first thing a lot of blokes will be thinking is "I've better get into shape".

So many ex-Saints, am I the only one here watching this circus?

I love the taste of hops in a good pale ale, corona is a mass produced summer beer the lemon is about the only thing giving it taste.

No really it's not a bad beer and strangely in does go quite well on a hot day, I guess it's the tart sharp lemon as a counter point to what is a quite sweet beer.

Corona makes sense in really hot climates when you want to get hydrated while you drink. Asian beers are similar, great in hot climates but taste like water in Melbourne. I had some Holgate pale ale tonight which was pretty good, their Hoppinator is very good too.

I remember when I did bar work at uni people drinking Shandies and I can't remember the name but a shot of lime cordial in their pot of VB or draft. Black and tans went pretty well in those days too, Abbotsford invalid stout and Carlton draft was like poor mans Guiness.

Just knocking back this Imperial Red IPA from Founders brewing in the US. Very malty with spicy, piney, tropical notes from the hops.
There is no doubt the best IPA´s come from America with the UK not far behind. I tried a few when i was back in Australia recently that were ok too.
If you want a proper German pils try something from Bamberg, Bavaria. The true beer brewing city. You would see a marked improvement on the usual
industry standard products. Most breweries in this region are century old, family owned businesses. Each little town in Bavaria have their own beer. It´s quite fun to travel around and try the real local stuff. 21268240_10159182516665403_1542252044_o.jpg

They had a name for the drink of lime cordial and beer, also beer and cider together. People drink some weird shit.

Cordial and beer was a snake bite I think?

Used to put cordial in the Geelong bitter they served for $4 a jug at the public bar. (it was that bad... But so cheap!)

Those were the days.

Raspberry cordial & beer on Sunday nights at Lennies nightclub in Glenelg was always fun.

I think I just involuntarily spewed. Then again having tasted West End I reckon I know why they put cordial in it.

I ordered a lager tops (pint of beer with a splash of lemonade in it) in a rough bar in Glasgow one afternoon.

Bar man stared at me with a serious face and said, "Sorry we don't serve cocktails in here pal".

YES ITS FATHERS DAY.
So when the kids are giving you some cheap kmart Socks or jocks or a " world's greatest dad" mug for the fourth year in a row just break out the crappy dad jokes as payback.

Happy Fathers Day to all the dad's on here
