Absolutely hilarious movie, I've probably watched it 3-4 times now.

I've seen some sights that would give you nightmares: people who have no right to ever wear shorts in public are strutting around like sunburned peacocks. Bodies which haven't seen sunlight in years are on show to the world. Not the type of physiques you get on Bondi, put it that way

Anybody know much about payroll processing?

It's my pay week this week, and we would normally be paid on a Wednesday evening - officially the day is Thursday.

Whenever there is a public holiday in that week (eg Queens Birthday this week on Monday), the pay is always delayed by a day (so officially Friday this week)

Other people who work there have indicated that this practise is shonky, and have said it is illegal. Can't find much online about it.

It's just a bit inconvenient, and from what I understand uncommon.

I am employed by a public hospital if that makes a difference.

Really odd mate. Never worked in a place like that before.

And to delay your pay even if it's NOT on a public holiday is even more bizarre. I'd be going to the union...they are great too, really helpful and will give you some solid advice. Next step after that would be fair work.

I think you read it wrong, they are NORMALLY paying it a day early. If there is a public holiday the day before pay day, the payroll people can't process it that day. I think its pretty common practice in larger organisations.

I don't think so, cartel is saying he will be paid today being Friday as a result of Monday's public holiday.

Now it was decades ago but I did run the payroll section for a state government department that paid several other bodies as well across several different awards.

It sounds very odd especially given the unions that cover hospitals. if I have misread it then cartel is bring paid early and would have no reason to complain.

Yes it's was and still is common practice to be paid early when payday falls on a public holiday.
